This song takes me back to my youth and learning karate from my Oriental neighbor (who was also our janitor) in the apartment complex where we lived. Just my mom and I! Those first couple of weeks were rough after the move from New Jersey!
@1966ahotstinker4u The 90's weren't half bad either, but when 9/11 hit, it's like EVERYTHING worth something was flushed down the toilet by those in charge...
@1966ahotstinker4u and a LOT of sex. But I've come to think there has ALWAYS been a lot more sex than people let on. If anything I think they have LESS sex now - in high school anyways. At least that is what my 17 year old son tells me, but then, that's what I told MY parents....
Oh god! When i first saw this video, I guess I was 13, I had such a crush on those 3 girls, damn they were hot! (Actually they're still not too bad now!) Funny, 3 girls i went to high school with reminded me of Bananarama, Ha! Those were the days!
@MichelleNJ1975 My first real job was at a full service filling station in 88. It was a cruel summer to say the least. I think everyday was about 100 degrees out here in Wisconsin I had to wear a dark blue shirt and pants. You get the idea. Get a hair cut get a real job. lol
@MichelleNJ1975 Heck, I got my drivers license in December 1971. I could fill up my Pinto (10 gallons), pay with a 5$ bill and still get $2.40 back in change!! Those were the days
im a 90s baby but man i bet the 80s was cool.. now our generation is messed up callin girls bitches and girls acting like whores..i dont kno what else could go wrong
this is my moms fav so cause when she was a teenager her mom and dad (my grandparnets) would leave at home by her self and take her brother on vaction with them and she wasnt allowed to have friends over but her friends still came over.
@ferraribbi Yes, this is absolutely true. I would gladly give up all these things for a one-way ticket back in time. Oh yeah(almost forgot), then I could watch & listen to this(& other great tunes) on MTV again...cuz it wouldn't completely suck like it does now!
Hmm.....when I watched this video as a kid, I never noticed the similarity in choreography and wardrobe with Come on Eileen. What was it with huge overalls and skipping in the 80s?
If you've ever served in the military that little skip they do with the feet is called "change step"-- when you walk in formation its used to switch legs or get in step with everyone else.
Love it, Love it, love it, I close my eyes and I can still smell those beautiful 80's summer days, how I soooooooooooooo wish to go back to such a remarkable time :( :( but I unfortunately have to live is the shitty shallow greedy times we have now
@Friday131969 Not exacty. I've been a fan of all three you mention for 30+ years and I'm not exactly poor thanks to trickle down economics of the 80's & 90's. During that period, for every $1000 corporate made, I could make $100 for my hard work & creativity. Today, my share might be $5 if I'm lucky no matter how hard or long I work due to greed at the top. Have you ever heard of a CEO exporting his/her job to a foreign country in todays business world?
What a great forerunner of the infectious Stock-Aiken-Waterman beat that would later rocket an irresistible, pint-sized, antipodean, singing budgy into the most popular and greatest live entertainer, spinster showgirl of the modern era. God created Kylie. Thank You, God.
I have a time machine, it's called a media player. Unfortunately I haven't figured out how to physically get into it yet. It just keeps playing things from the past. I'll sell you one if you like?

Music has always been a mood altering experience for me and this song and video has been a favorite. It's high positive energy is like getting a set of fresh batteries. IMO, the video represents don't take life and responsibility so seriously paralleling the plot from Ferris Buellers Day Off. Its a mystery to me how these three girls fully clad in baggy coveralls are loaded with sex appeal. Maybe its because unlike todays videos they leave something to the imagination in their presentation.
Man I miss 80's girls.....the feel of bush on my upper lip....joico and freeze hairspray in their hair scraping my cheek or cheeks...ahhh the memories.
it,s more to it than simply being cyclical i,m 34 and i like 60s 70s and 80s from country to RandB but the last 20 years of music has been shit i like good music made by people with talent nowadays it,s soulless music made by soulless people

The idea that the world is more innocent yesterday than it is today is simply an illusion based on your age and growing cynicism. Based on your logic, today is crueler than the vietnam war? World War 2? The Gulf War?
No, of course its not. Regardless what you may think, there has NEVER been a better day to be alive than TODAY.
@cyberslick18 Did you experience the 80s? Of course they were more innocent, no mobiles, no internet, no PC mind bending, Facebook etc , and you think that things like that make today better?
In 20 years of course it will be said that the 10's were more innocent, because they will be, but what's to come will be a damned site more sinister than what is going on today.
Remember this is the 80's we're talking about not the 40's. And that still doesn't alter the fact that todays music is tosh.
@keijak1 People in the 80s said the 60s were more innocent. People in the 80s said new electronic dance music was trash and that the stand up singers from the 60s were way better.
Every generation has said the previous one had it easier. We live longer than in the 80s. We cure more diseases than the 80s. The standards of living across the globe have raised almost universally since the 80s.
There is no better day to be alive in human history than now. You are wrong, and I am right.
@keijak1 In the 90s everyone said Nirvana, Green Day, N Sync and Britney Spears were just main stream pop trash, and that stuff from the 80s like classic rock was way better.
Now go to those videos, everyone is saying how much they love 90s mainstream and how shitty todays music is. It's a never ending cycle, and if you can't see and understand that, you are way, way too immature to be on the internet.
@cyberslick18 Most people miss being a kid. Life was easier and when you are young most kids are way into music and movies. When you get older hearing your childhood music brings back good memories and positive feelings of a simpler happy time in your life.Youre right it is a never ending cycle.I was born in 75 so i,m partial to the 80,s and early 90,s.my parents hated the hair metal of the 80,s and their parents hated the beatles and elvis.

@cyberslick18 That may be true, but morals went down the toilet.

Look! A music video where the girls dress like normal people instead of sex symbols. Amazing!
