try this..

- Directx 8.1 and 9.0 option tab==check "emulate HW TnL caps. Just check only this option...

- Go to C:\Program Files\Aspyr\Guitar Hero III\DATA\ZONES

- copy z_viewer.pak.xen and paste to this direktory with 8 copies.

- backup this files: z_artdeco.pak.xen, z_budokan.pak.xen, z_dive.pak.xen, z_hell.pak.xen, z_party.pak.xen, z_prison.pak.xen, z_video.pak.xen, z_wikker.pak.xen.

- rename copy of z_viewer.pak.xen with those files.

i'm not sure how this thing works but you still need a decent graphics card to run the game no matter what. The only thing is their recommendation for the game is higher than you actually need. They recommend having and 8800 GT. Well i ran just fine on my 7300 GS, with a little bit of lag here in there, but i was still able to 5-star just about every song. Now i got a 8600 GT and it runs perfectly smooth, and it's on 1024 x 768, not the lowest setting.
