  • Absolutely great track!! Just heard this on finnish radio. Had to find out what it was....

  • I fuckin love it!

  • @FabrikaStraha Wow,you just couldn't leave 'Dislikes' alone now could you?

  • this is Stoner Rock who said Post punk who!! u retard

  • @sidonot u trolling rite?

  • @sidonot Stoner rock? Lol... in the 80's they were considered to be in the same genre with Depeche Mode and The Cure...

  • Its the worst track on Absolute Dissent in my opinion and it's STILL pretty good :D

  • @MansonNiles11 how can this be the worst track? it's one of the highlights along Absolute Dissent and This World Hell.

  • @lucaslotti Have to agree... KJ has always been in my top ten all-time but this song is worthy of leaving on repeat for hours...

  • @MansonNiles11 well, if you are talking HEAVY, i must say that i think the tracks deserving that title have to be Depthcharge and This World Hell, not this one. But overall, my favorites are Honour the Fire, Singularity, and Ladbroke Grove, those are true masterpieces! (just in my humble opinion, don't want to get youtube-murdered for what i think)

  • @MansonNiles11 All I know is this song is genius...

  • @zonker400 Good for you bro, at least we can share the fact that the album all together is great

  • @MansonNiles11 Totally... haven't been this impressed by a single song of theirs since "Millenium" so you can guess what it is about them I like. Ladbroke Grove on the other hand is going to take many listens before I get used to it...

  • @zonker400 Oh, you are into their metal stuff? yeah, i like it too, best thing about them for me though was the early what is THIS for? and Revelations, the industrial tribal rhythms, atmospheric keyboards, and pounding bass lines, those and Hosannas are my favorites

  • @MansonNiles11 Yes, their metal stuff is absolutely brilliant but I even put Brighter Than a Thousand Suns into that category... one thing you hear over and over from casual fans is how much they like the vocals. To put it into perspective my other favorite bands of all time are Iron Maiden, Rush and Amon Amarth... only liked punk that crossed over into metal like DRI and Cro-Mags.

  • I don't, and never have associated KJ with any metal subgenre. They play what they always have: Big, brutal, loud, crushing music built around pummeling riffs and blunt political themes.

  • @grahamlaur Post Punk, perhaps more post than punk.

  • thanx! i love kiling joke!!!

  • 1 dislike....WTF xD

  • This whole album is so awesome.....thank you killing Joke you never disappoint...

  • MY FATHER LIVED THROUGH THE GREAT CULL OF THE UKRAINE IT DOESN'T MAKE SENSE TO HIM ETHER BUT IT HAPPENED. IT TAKES GREAT COURAGE TO SEE THE TRUTH & FREE YOURSELF FROM ILLUSION THAN IT IS TO MARCH TO YOUR DEATH

  • i will never tire of this track if it was released years ago before nobhead ft dickface etc started fuckin charts up(lolcharts) ok i sad twat we need more of this on top of the pops wen it comes back teach yung uns wot its all about boo-yaa bye the way?WHERES CAPTAIN KIRK?!

  • ITS'S GOOD THE WORLD IS SO F--KED SO THAT KILLING JOKE HAVE ENDLESS THEMES TO PRODUCE MORE OF THE BEST.

  • God dammit this album is brilliant!

  • can somebody explain the cover art ? WTF is that shit on the cross - antennas ?

  • 0 dislikes? Wow! I can't believe that it still has not found a fool who will put dislike.

  • Just you wait! [It wasn't me, I swear!]

  • @VoiceOverBerlin Unfortunately, there was always at least one idiot, sooner or later.

  • What a cracking tune..FACT!!

  • I've only listened to about six of the songs from this album, but this one immediately got a thumbs up. Thus far the best.

  • Supposedly, food companies the world over are in on it, willfully poisoning their consumers. Why? Why would a business that makes more money the larger the population gets, decide to be complacent in killing its consumers, thus killing its profit? It makes no sense. Blindly following conspiracy theories is just as bad as blindly following governments.

  • @ageekofalltrades MONEY IS JUST SOMETHING THEY USE TO RUN THE SHOW ALONG WITH FEAR & MANY OTHER THINGS, IT DOESN'T MAKE SENSE TO YOU BUT THEY DON'T THINK LIKE YOU & ME, TOTALLY DIFFERENT UP BRINGING & VALUES.

KILLING JOKE IS CALLED KILLING JOKE FOR A REASON & IT'S NO JOKE!

  • While I really do love Killing Joke and this song, the Great Cull(ing) is absolute nonsense IMO. Just think about it and actually research it, and you will see what I mean. The biggest and most glaringly obvious reason why it's BS is that this theory has been around for many decades, but what has the population done in that span of time? It's grown exponentially. Then think about one of the major ways they're purportedly carrying out this nefarious plot, and the logic only further unravels. Sup

  • feed the herd.

  • @balhaut69 its thin the herd.

  • What I've heard so far, folks, is pretty darned good. My 10 year old daughter is being introduced to the school of Killing Joke....about time too !

  • thats what the right-wing eugenics fascists do to the poor -"The Great Cull"

  • Epic song. Can't wait to hear this mofo live!

  • @BrettKeepin Heard this live at Sonisphere. They absolutely owned the bohemian stage. Performance of the weekend for me.

  • @loingsigh101 Wicked! They're passing through here next year, picking a ticket up tomorrow. Be cool to hear the new stuff life.

  • i could see governments doing this very soon

  • i like how this has 0 dislikes

  • The Great Cull will be Starting Very Soon, Blackwater OP's getting ready, and the weapons they have are INSANE, watch what happens late 2011

    Hang on to yourselves

  • THIN THE HERD!!!!

  • Very good quality sound, thanks

  • Brilliant.! just when i start to think iam the only 1st wave punk left on this god forsaken planet, i trawl through youtube and come up with a little gem like this....thanx KJ.

  • and yeah, eu is planning new food & drug code, banning all herbal medicines, and hey, guess what the name of the code is? Codex Alimentarius! Already knew this day was coming, but still, FUCK EU, piece of shit capitalist organization.....

  • dearest global elites, the eyes of texas are upon you..

  • this shit is happening as we speak. chem-trails,food code,HAARP, elenin, denver airport-country broke... we need names and addresses of the global elites.

  • @1vonrichtofen you are correct. and the punchline is we can do nothing but say, "toldja so"

  • @WilfulDays Same here woman - my man got us this and I was just blown away... awesome... Killing Joke is back and sounds great :D Will be rewarding him too

  • JOKE JOKE JOKE!

  • Monstanto seed, Monsanto feed

  • their best song for 25 years. a total classic

  • My 16 month son headbangs to this! Don't worry folks rock won't die!

  • Love the production

  • KJ leading the way musically as ever...

  • some people are already dead and they just don t know it.i won t let my fading youth

    bury me.i love this song!

  • Sen neko tik labu neesmu dzirdējis no mūsdienu mūziķiem!

    Greetings from Latvia!

  • You guys should check the lyrics to this song. Research eugenics and Monsanto. The elite really do want rid of 80% of us. This is a reality.

  • @WilfulDays Wipeout is also an all-time great video game ;)

  • .....are you hearing the lyrics??? Jazz has is eyes on the ball........big time...

  • this album is growing on me, like all Killing Joke albums they take a while to work their way into my brain, love it, great base.

  • Jaz doesnt sound any different than he always did, I dont really see the black metal comparison, whether vocally or through the music, this rocks as they always have

  • Jaz doesnt sound any different than he always did, I dont really see the black metal comparison, whether vocally or through the music

  • Comment removed

  • Thin the heard!!!!!

  • this is fun tune.

  • Yes,yes..yes!

Finally, after waiting 20 years,Jaz has gone back to singing.

I am not too crazy about anything they have done after Extremities..So harsh sounding and Jaz sounds likes he wants to be in a Norweigan black metal banc.

Anyhoo, sounds like they are certainly back on track.

    Just my 2 cents worth

  • @woodykinskileone he has a good aggressive voice though, you have to admit that

  • @woodykinskileone Norwegian Black Metal wishes it could be as brilliant as some of KJ's recent harder stuff.

  • @assenavlp I love Killing Joke, but you should not compare BM to this, that is a true stupid comment.

  • @SlavicIn3D I was NOT the one who made the comparison. I was responding to Woodykinskileone, who was the person who did. He said: "So harsh sounding and Jaz sounds likes he wants to be in a Norweigan black metal banc."

  • @assenavlp whoops.

  • @SlavicIn3D very stupid indeed! black metal fucking sucks!!!

  • Very few old punk bands still sound so interesting. I think that KJ flow in my blood. So regretted I have not been to their concert last month in Athens, Greece.

  • Beautiful beautiful.

  • Absolute Dissent just might be my album of the year, (and there have been a lot of candidates). Practically every single song is some of the most brilliant work K.J. has ever done.

  • F*** YESSSSSS!!!!!! Killing Joke rules again!!!

  • @TKK1999 They never stopped ruling!!!

  • Wow.

  • I read about this albums release in the paper today .. This is the first track i've listened to . I've got a musical bone a phone for sure ! when killing joke are on it they're on it

  • Ha - every time they put out a new album I'm kinda non-plussed by it for a couple of weeks, then it clicks. Think it really clicked with this one tonight. God how I love them!

  • I need to see this band live.

  • This entire disc is stunning. About once a year, I'm lucky enough to find a release that really strikes me, and I'm delighted to know that this year it's by Killing Joke. First, I was enthralled by the power of "In Excelsis", and now, I keep listening to this! AWESOME sound! I love the drums, just the right pauses, use of the floor toms, and use of rolls, like aural punches as Jaz hits that epic chorus!

  • is it just me or does the production on this record suck complete balls?

  • THEEEEEEEE GREAAAAAAAAT CUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUULLLLLLL IS COMING DOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAWWWWWWWWWNNNNNNNNN

  • What a voice!

When I try to sing along just one verse my voice is destroyed for days!

  • @WilfulDays nice :)

  • Wasn't sure I liked the song at first but then realized I wasn't playing it loud enough. All is very well now. I daresay they're playing as a whole group more than in a long time, certainly since "Extremities"; otherwise, they've mostly been Jaz, Geordie, & company.

  • @hellchild65 Thank you - a sensible objective view point and I totally agree with your comments.Unlike kingofwank1977 who is under the illusion I began listening to KJ a few weeks ago when in fact I've been a fan since 1979. Like I have said before, everyone is entitled to their opinion if it is measured and has substance. I just don't see any fruition in slagging off a band so much. If you don't like them that much, piss off and find something positive to say about something you do like.

  • Amazin lyrics,makes you think!!

  • SRMoore1178, I couldn't agree with ya more. Have been listening to the tunes and rubbing me hands with greed, but no joy until November, so I hear at this point. May I be dead wrong, if not dead. Amazon were a bit of a tease at one point with mention of an October 5 date but that's come and gone so the joke's on us. No pun intended. Somebody correct me, please.

  • What the fuk do I have to do to get a this album if I live in the US. Amazon still only has the import which apparently is out of stock. And I want a CD not that mp3 crap. I've already downloaded every song from the album off of youtube for free but I still want a proper album with good sound quality. Something fishy is going on here!

  • @SRMoore1178 US release date was Oct 20 according to my local store of musical awesomeness. Hope you can see them when they play in the States!

  • Holy Cow, totally frigging amazing track. Brilliant in a wicked, ravaging way

  • why do people always have to argue such shite on you tube??!!

its just music, you either like it or you dont

i love killing joke...i've learnt so much from jaz colemans ideas and lyrics...occult, ancient cultures, etc

seeing them in 9 days in london!

    YES

extremeties has always been my fav album

  • Great filthy dirty guitar tone from Geordie and hellhammer drumming (most assuredly not the Norwegian black metal percussionist of the same name) that only Big Paul can provide. Jaz' lyrics make me think of an interview he did in 1985 for either MELODY MAKER or NME in which he meandered through a London crowd with the reporter, muttering 'Too many people.' I've been thinking that very thing on every damn queue I've ever been on, lads. Kickass.

  • Fantastic...

  • big Zombiepizza88

  • killing joke = f*cking dangerous

  • @kingofpunk1977 I don't think you get it. Being a true Killing Joke fan is about dedication to what they do and trying to adapt to new styles and eras. When they change, we change with them. I've followed them for 30 years and it annoys me when you cite Wipeout as a song title. I think you mean Whiteout? To my knowledge they have never had a song called Wipeout. If you think Absolute Dissent is shit, you clearly don't have KJ in your blood.

  • @07parallax we dont have to change with them to be honest, no point in torturing with music you hate. i think their 86-89 stuff was terrible but im a fan of most of their other material.

but what kingofpunk is doing is just being a troll who either A: has no life and is a little 13 year old (evidence that hes been doing this for the last couple weeks) or B: he cannot let go of old memories and cannot except that as you get older, you might not like some bands like you did when you were younger.

  • @07parallax

"Being a true Killing Joke fan is about dedication to what they do and trying to adapt to new styles and eras. When they change, we change with them. I've followed them" - are you suggesting we should "follow the leaders"?!!! Can't we leave blind devotion to the Michael Jackson fans. If KJ want to move on and try something different then fine, but I'll take it or leave it - in the case of this album I'll leave it for now, unless it grows on me.

  • Brighter Than...is actually a great album but it always seems to get slagged or thrown into the "goth" bargain bin! Shame really.

  • @878commando I wouldn't go as far as to say it was great but it certainly has some great moments. Particularly "Wintergardens" and "Rubicon". I doubt you would be able to find 2 KJ fans who agreed on which of their albums were good or bad. I think the only truly great album they've made is "Revelations".

  • We are most certainly on the same page. There seems to be an archetype that hate anything from their favorite bands after their second or third album. I used to see this with Black Flag fans. As the band matured, developed, and explored, they'd be criticized by the purists. They're like the conservative right of the underground.

  • can anyone tell me if this is the sound that they really want or they just dont have enough money to have better quality?

  • @TheInnerStation -- fair assessment. At least you like a bulk of the new material. After all these years, I can never guess which tracks fellow Gatherers will love and which they will toss. It's the ones who dismiss anything post '82 or '83 that I consider completely absurd. If you don't like more than 50% of a bands output, then you obviously don't like the band. Simple as that.

  • @tylerskiss: I can find something great about each KJ release. There are definitely tracks I could go without, but IMHO when they're on, they are full-on. Even though I rarely play it, I can find a few things I like about Outside The Gate. Not on my top 5 though;-). I've been fortunate to see them twice now and each time they have been amazing. A true live band. I put them in my pantheon with WIRE, JOY DIVISION, and GANG OF FOUR.

  • this song is great, one of the best of the album, and one of the best of their entire 2000's production. Very Extremities style+Hosannas.

    Absolute Dissent!

  • Not a fan of this track. It has its moments. A lot of die-hards love it, but I can't seem to pick up the thread. Not loving This World Hell either. However, I think ESS, Absolute Dissent, In Excelsis, HCTS, Fresh Fever, Raven King, and Honor the Fire are amazing. Some of the best material I've heard from them in a while. They are in dire need of better production, distribution and packaging though. They deserve much better.

  • @TheInnerStation that's a 5 star album then!

  • @jordmeisterful: Indeed! In Excelsis sends chills up my spine. It has that hook like Democracy. The song Absolute Dissent is just incredible. I start my day's drive to work with it and it hasn't worn yet. reminds of me of Seeing Red. What power! I was also happy to see a nod to Pssyche in that one.

  • @TheInnerStation Right ON!

  • A Ceremony tomorrow night at The Fleece in Bristol.....can't fucking wait!

  • It's in the heart

  • This song is great. I'm not completely in love with the production/mixing on the album though...It's much better than on Hosanas, but it still sounds weird. For example, the single "European Superstate" could be a perfect single (maybe even a hit), but it is mixed really weird, especially in the chorus. I do appreciate going with a rougher edge to production vs overpolish, but I'd actually prefer the pristine production of Andy Gill on KJ 2003.

  • Rubbish. Killing joke 2010 are crap . They have become a stinky Metal band

  • @kingofpunk1977 you havent heard Hosannas at all? 1977? really hope thats not your birthyear :)

  • @sikapena I have heard Hosannas from the Basements of Smell. SHIT SOUND QUALITY Rubbish (Joke used to record really well). And Jaz now sings like the Sugar Puffs Honey Monster

  • @kingofpunk1977 You just can't fucking get over your own opinions can you.

  • @yaakovreuven - and what exactly are other posts here, in fact the whole of youtube? Some statistical poll based on the average opinion that obeys political correctness and most likely not to offend? No. They are all individual opinions that everyone "can't get over" - including yours. Stop wanting this band to be as good as they were. Hosannas had awful sound quality. KJ's first album was crystal clear, with the full dynamic range represented. The idea is to produce music, not stools.

  • @nothingnewsince82 Ha! Spot on man. It was all over after Revelations, the moment Jaz's ego got the better of him and he went centre-stage. Anyway, if you weren't aware, you're not allowed to disagree with all the arbiters of good taste on here. Collective consciousness reigns........

  • @bufon63 Thank you. And the "arbiters of good taste" are just little children who cannot come to terms with the fact that KJ 2010 are a disappointment. Like I said, if it's shit, it's shit. Use the money to buy lovely Ludwig Vans' 9th Symphony instead, guaranteed to satisfy....

  • @nothingnewsince82 Stravinsky's "Rite of Spring" would be a better choice :)

  • @bufon63 - A revolutionary piece, we are not worthy, it's just a bit too much sometimes....! Changed the way people thought about music. Funny, his style got more traditional as he matured, started out weird, then mellowed as it were.

  • @kingofpunk1977 have you not heard anything from 1990 onwards?

  • @hellchild65 Yes I have heard their albums (fortunately a mate gave me promo copies of Democracy Pants de Moanim . Thank goodness I got them for free . they are kak) & I purchased the Yellow 2003 Album (Asteroids was ok didn't think much of rest) & I bought Basements of smell without hearing it . A mistake. Why did I bother with Killing Joke post 1990 ....Because the first 5 albums (1980-85) & Extremities were excellent

  • @kingofpunk1977 well then let me ask you this, if you have not liked their material since the mid 90's onward, why the hell are you still on here complaining 15 years latter? that would be like if i divorced my wife 20 years ago but I still leave her messages from time to time saying "you used to be so awesome, now your just a bitch".

  • @hellchild65 A good question . 1979-1985 Excellent.Classic Killing Joke.1000 Suns was a great disappointment & O the Gate was pants but 1990 Extremities was FANTASTIC. With that in mind it was always in my interest to keep my eye on Killing Joke because you knew they had the capability to be truly magnificent if they pulled their finger out . Wipeout & Asteroids harked back to classic KJ & the 2008 Forum shows proved they could do it & Timewave was good but Absolute Dissent is shit

  • @kingofpunk1977 I might post some songs off their Duende spanish session recordings, the play alot of their old songs.

  • @Zombiepizza88 - Duende sessions were given to me by a very good friend, and they were very promising - this recording was one of the reasons I had such high hopes for the original line-up. Saw them 2008 at the Forum, and was very much looking forward to this new material, only to be let down. Cannot sanction it just because it's Killing Joke. If it's shit, it's shit. Will continue to keep an eye on what they do, but Absolute Dissent is absolutely awful.

  • @kingofpunk1977 "WIPEOUT and Asteroids...." lol I know you meant "White Out" but now I'm trying to image KJ doing this oldie especially with a "Revelation" or "Firedances" album sound. I'm sure Big Paul could do something nasty with those tribal tom rolls.

  • @kingofpunk1977 Whiteout* and Asteroid*.

  • @hellchild65 Brilliant.

  • Holy shit! There I was thinking Endgames was going to be the most powerful song on the album. This is so good

  • i think this is my favorite of the album...

  • Comment removed

  • @flyingcougar Agree! I espected they would deliver once again, but the outcome is even greater than I dared to hope.

  • Great that Jazz's eighties vocals are back.

  • Roll on October 11th! Nosturi in Helsinki, can't feckin' wait!!

  • Titans !!!

  • Wow!

    Killing Joke forever!

Can´t wait to see them in Hamburg (3rd october)!

  • Are the vocals auto-tuned in this entire album? I usually hate auto-tune, but I think it contributes to the album very well. Idk, maybe it's a different effect, but whatever it is, I'm liking it

  • Pumped for new Killing Joke. Can't wait to pick this one up.

  • That's a mighty drum sound

  • @humanoid66 That's Big Paul Ferguson, returned to the line-up after being too long away. He was the original drummer and was key to the unique Killing Joke sound. Check out "Unspeakable" from the second album "What's THIS for?" of 1981.

  • @Beelzebubbbbles one of my favs songs, he ventured into heavy metal I think with Warrior Soul.

  • @Zombiepizza88 and evidently still continues :) A pity, he should have remembered that he used to be different and original. Ah well....... :)

  • @Zombiepizza88 He did indeed. I used to be good friends with Pete McClanahan the bassist in Warrior Soul, he was married to Eleanora of The Goops back then, and filled in on bass for them for a time. Awesome player, and great guy, we lost touch when I left NYC.

  • @Beelzebubbbbles But sadly this is hardly "Unspeakable". Ferguson's like any other drummer these days. Sounds like a session guy; he can play but there's no originality where there once was (well, 30 years ago). Just like the rest of the band. A spent force since "Revelations". A heavy rock outfit. Ah well........

  • @bufon63 KJ evolve. This album is different to Hosannas, which was different to KJ2003, which was different to Panda, which was different to Extremities, etc. How original would it have been for Paul to recreate the drum style he used almost 30 years ago? Why don't you rate Fire Dances, his drumming on that was class, especially on Frenzy, Lust Almighty, Dominator, and the single Wilful Days...

  • @Beelzebubbbbles There's a difference between evolution and regression into sounding like any other hard rock band.

  • @bufon63 And which hard rock band do you think they sound like? Still sounds like KJ to me. What I don't understand is that if you don't like any of their output since 1983, 27 years ago, why do you still bother with them? Me, I've had my ups and downs with them - I wasn't particularly happy with BTATS, nor much of Democracy (I don't consider the porridge of OTG to be a real KJ album). I thought Extremities was class when it came out, and still love it to bits. They still rock, imho.

  • @Beelzebubbbbles You've got a point. Old passions die hard I suppose.

  • this is the song that sticks out for me when i heard this album a few days ago fcukin magic

  • I love the refrain and chorus in this, but the rest seems a bit too mundane. Still, it's an excellent song!

  • It reminds me QOTSA first moments of the song

  • cant wait for the album after all the delays sounds like worth the wait the tour superb honor the fire

  • sooo chuffed about the PNW dates in Vancouver. I'll be at Vancouver, Seattle and Portland!

  • thanks for the upload!

  • They sound like they mean business here - The incantatious rant at 3:36 was amusing & then it all kicks back into the main riff at 4:02. Epic stuff.

  • Great production, crystal-clear definition don't you think!? Not surprising though seeing as it has a team of super-engineers and shit-loads of money thrown at it! Thank god it doesn't sound like it's been recorded using a Woolworths mic and 70’s Walkman!

  • Ya can't beat 70's heavy rock like, don't you agree? :)

  • Brilliant...KJ at their best!

  • Love the production, total opposite of modern trends.
