I don't like the STI driver's choice of driving lines. He knows the thing understeers, he should really plan his lines better. RX8 kept up well, probably cause of the tighter slower speed corners.
@rarejd That RX8 was keeping up just fine on the straights too... i doubt it was stock. The STI didnt have very bad lines, you're just being critical. Upload a video of you racing a manual on this track, see if you can beat his time.
@SleeperWag I fail to see the point of your comment. You're saying that because I don't have a video of me driving his car on this very track, it's impossible for me to be critical? Worse yet, you're saying that because I haven't driven this particular car on this particular track, I'm incapable of understanding the concepts of driving lines or understeer? What a poorly thought out argument.
i love the dumbass in the s2k doing the fucking course with the top down, i really want to get into this but i dunno if there is anything close to me...
when it comes to the track its a balance of power and handling the sti obviously has more power the rx8 is making up for this and plus more on the corners
the RX8 probably has a nice set of coilovers ... no body roll!!! nice!!!!! thats the advantage on the corners the sti was scratching the side skirts..haha unfortunately the lack of torque is noticeable.. the Rx8 had a better line all day!! but have to give it to the sti ..to Autocrox pays.. hahahah nice vid!!!! i wish we had that track in florida!! i've been in moroso, sebring, .....
think about it...the cars run the same size tire width (225) and the STi is heavier...the Brembos help keep the braking system performing at optimum for longer without overheating...they don't necessarily decrease stopping times, only better tires do that
you have got to be kidding me. that is some of the greatest BS i've ever heard. you're saying the ONLY way to decrease stopping distance...is through TIRES? HAHAHAHA in that case fuck Endless/brembo/wilwood....just run 283/40/17's and stop in a milisecond! Bigger pot brakes DO reduce stopping distance, because they have more brutal biting power to stop the weight of the car. what misinformed bs.
Big brake kits won't reduce your stopping distance, and in many cases actually increase it by altering front/rear brake bias. What they do is reduce fade on the track by being better heat sinks/heat radiators than stock size brakes. If you want shorter stopping distances, get stickier or wider tires.
I went from 215's to 245's/40/18's...and the car if anything feels like it takes more to stop. honestly...im sure tires DO have a positive roll in stopping distance, but you cannot say that big brake kit's have zero effect on stopping distance. gimiabreak already.
that has to do with the fact that you added more weight and rolling resistance...i give up with you dude...not trying to attack you, just saying there's more to the story than simply add this big brake kit and you stop faster
I don't know about that, I have to agree with the term "biting power" but brakes are not setup like that as you mentioned. It is true that bigger brakes do spread more heat so there's less fade, but most brake kits have bigger or more number of pistons, which of course bight more than some stock brakes. You are right about the front/rear brake setup though, if the weight isn't distributed to the right location by the brakes, this could increase your stopping distance.
@sunnyjason its all about who is driving. That STI is 0-60 in 4.3 seconds STOCK. the rx8 is 0-60 in 5.9... WAAAY slower than the turbo charged STI but the RX8 EASILY could have passed the STI more than once if he was more aggressive. Its way more than who has the bigger engine and the best mods. Its about the fastest line, the right handling, and the best decisions. Above all knowing when to accelerate and when to decelerate in relation to the apex of the turn
Rx8 is better on tracks , Subaru is better rally

Looks like a almost fair race the rx8 does amazing in the turns but lacks in the straights love my rx8 just want to upgrade the torque

yea, the sti has a full sec on the quarter time, im sure it would pull harder than that, i agree he wasnt trying to hard.

interesting how different the driving lines are between your RWD and the AWD...
you can outbrake him all day long

Don't think the STI was trying very hard...it has brembos all around, should have no trouble outbraking the rx8.

so you are saying I can have a honda civic with all four brembos it would be faster than lets say rx-8?
