The only saint that ever inspired me was St. Augustine, he had a very modern outlook on life. He lived with his concubine, drank lots of wine, partied with his friends, broke the occasional law, tested the boundaries of morality, pursued his career in the big city...and read numerous books from the Pagan philosophers. Then and only then, did he convert and become the most righteous defender of the church. He sounds like he grew up in 21st century New York City ...just like me.
