  • Nätti pätkä. Mun ensimmäisiä pelejä kuusneballa.

  • Excellent work. Have shared this.

  • @c64glen Cool! :)

  • Uridium is my all-time favourite videogame... and this... this... (I think I just peed a little...) Very, very well-done!!

  • This shit's brilliant, son! Used to play this with my buddy Kevin over at his place. Nice work!

  • excellent remake, one of my favorite games on the C64, the sounds, the graphics... great stuff, nice one Andy B! :)

  • Järjettömän siisti pätkä! ihan lemppari pienenä. Kiitos!

  • am disapointed , i hoped that was a real remake , snif !

  • all classic side scrolling games deserve remakes for modern hidef widescreen tvs

  • great stuff, looks awesome

  • so ein mist

  • They ported this to the NES as "The Last Starfighter" in 1990.

  • thats not uridium in dark orbit

  • @topikauppinen it COULD not even be. Any true fans here? :) Original C64 URIDIUM always took veeeeeeeeery long until you got the "Land now!" order. This delay is much less shorter in the animation. :)

  • remake or 3d render???

  • Ah, good point! :)

  • WOW good job man!! this looks so killer i need it now!!!!

  • WoW !!!

Imagine something like this back then when the originall came out !

  • This clip though just 3D video is amazing and I would be taking this to Coktel Vision the company that bought Mindscape . Well done I think, looking at your showreel your already working fulltime in 3D

  • Now this looks cool!.You realy need to turn this into a game now..love it!.

  • Wow, crazy. Is this a freeware game? Remake? Just an animation? What is it? Very cool.

  • that aint the commodore 64.

  • Haha, if only it'd looked like this back in the day. I think you'd be looking at a frame every 30 seconds if it did though. Brilliant game at the time. Alleycat was cool too especially for the crashing into the ground explosive effects. If i remember right braybrooks games were all pretty good. I never did get morpheus as my dinner money never quite reached the slightly fatter price tag it waved. Could only starve myself between being kicked in for being a computer nerd for so long ;)

  • And do you know what? When Anrew Braybrook made Morpheus, he actually put an enemy in there called a "Uridimine": A reference to the homing mines of Uridium ^_^

  • Always wondered what those ships looked like to the Manta pilot........... =D

  • I remember the first time I saw this for the c64. I was awestruck at the 3d and the ship flipping as you turned directions.

  • AMAZING!

  • Brilliant tribute! I wasn't quite sure what was happening, for a minute :)

  • OMG! How Great Is This! That´s exactly how i wanted uridium to be like, when i was playing it as a kid.

If you want, i can produce a new soundtrack (a remix of the original music) for this clip. let me know !

  • Sounds good! Why don't you try it?

  • C64 can do this type of 3d graphics???? Interesting.

  • *points at comments*

    "Classic C64-shooter REVISITED."

Note the word "revisited". The C64 can't handle powerful 3D.

  • But the sound chip was a pretty advanced one back in the 80's for a home computer.

  • This man speaks the truth!

  • thats wicked..xbox live arcade ?? hehe /id buy it

  • Very good re-imagining!

  • beautiful!

  • Now that I think about it, this game has a silly plot... you've got this space station that clearly doesn't like you, and then you land and they give you a bonus!!! wtf!!!

  • why was that in 3d? the c64's wasn't like that, has it been tampered with?

  • c64 was 3D, but 3D chip was disabled by governments in case hackers used it for...hacking.

  • I liked this a lot, a nice way of expanding the game without overly re-doing it.

  • too cool. We need a resurgence of flat shaded 3d games, especially remakes

  • wow great!

  • Excellent video.. how was it made?

I'm working on a Remake of this game for PC retaining its 2D Gameplay but with enhanced graphics.

  • Nice job on the angles of the video... Was a truely awesome game.... Your angle changes make it appear even more impressive. :)

  • Ah, doing a bit of research I think you might mean the gameplay controversy! It was very original, but definitely not for everyone, I liked it for the feeling of experiencing something different, something I'm always on the lookout for. As for the publisher, it was Rainbird, who were good at promoting alternative type games.

  • Fantastic game, though not his best (that award goes to Paradroid), or his most unique (I'd give that to Morpheus). Perhaps his coolest and most exilerating, I still love it to this day!

  • Morpheus had the most contraversy around it for sure. was it hewson or rainbird putting it out? hehe.. but yer braybrook/turner were kick a** game makers and graftgold did some spot on conversions. It's a shame they didn't continue today, they did original games.

  • I'd agree with you, Cosine they were some of the best, it's a real shame they aren't making stuff for the latest consoles, it could be amazing. As for the controversy, wasn't aware of that- sounds like there was a royalties issue going on there? I know not everyone liked the gameplay- having a ship take up most of the screen was certainly a bit odd. The whole thing was just so intriguingly different- one of the last great 'programs' on the C64.

  • hey a game about me ehh!!1

  • I've never been a fan of 3D games (mainly First Person Shooters) but I ponder that Uridium certainly would have benefitted from an isometric remake...

Hmm....[ponders the idea]...ah, that would be Zaxxon, wouldn't it?

  • ha ha great video

  • Great idea, and well done - very cool.

  • Fantastic. What did you use to animate this?

  • Thanks! I used 3D Studio MAX, Premiere and After Effects.

  • This is simply fantastic! A great job, great re-imagining of the game. I know it's just a video but this would be a fantastic starting point for a new 3D version, would go down well on next-gen download services. Not sure who owns the rights anymore, but whoever does should take note...

    Great job!

  • Bought Uridium years ago on c64 it was by far the best game them (most arcade like) I then bought an Amiga which was graphically a lot better but not as good as the hype. I always said I would but a new games system when the grapics really were good. I have bought a ps3 in March and I would highly recomment it. Graphics are brilliant as is gamesplay.

  • The best thing about this game was the loading music. Truly the best tune I heard on the C64

  • BRILLIANT

  • Brilliant game, twenty years on I still haven't completed it.

  • This is a game with one of the highest playability-factor on the C64.

Played it out several times fucking addictive!!

  • i`ve just been playing this...on a real 64!

  • Great animation of a classic game!

  • Maybe, but the Game Over theme is HORRIBLE.

  • You don´t have to worry about that if you have skills to play it.

  • Maybe, but I'm not the games expert that you are. So when I play this, this is usually where I'm headed-one mistake can end your go faster than you can say "Uridium". Anyone see what I mean?
