To question religion most Churches don't allow. Or question the pastor, preacher, or what title given. To some its like questioning God and risk getting shunned. They expect you to follow the rules, the dogma. Threaten you. Is not only Amish. Jesus taught spiritual Laws/Truths. Like it is done to you as you believe. And taught Love, the Greatest thing. God is Spirit of Light and Love. Church is an umbrella and thats good if it uplifts you with love, not fear.
Much is true about the Amish way of life, but I must say that the Narrator forgets to mention that every different amish or mennonite group will have different rules and customs. Thus being this group can only adear to rollerblades and scooters. He stated that bikes with wheels were forbidden. I am very good friends with deacons of an old order Mennonite group and they get around by bicycle, horse and buggy. Point being, I did not want folks to misinterpret what the narrator had stated.
@iPriestHolmes You mention facts ? Please tell me what facts you have that when we die there's nothing after ? I base mine off a book that has made hundreds of prophecies that have come true just as the book said it would. If I live by this book and when i die it is not real, then I have lived a good life and I will just no longer be. If you don't live by this book and you die and it's real, What do you say ?
@flatpicker1234 you don't know me at all. when i die, i die a good person. i don't give shit if there is a god or not, and if he exists and he doesn't accept me into his 'heaven because i didn't believe in him but was my entire life an honest, caring, unselfish person..then he can go fuck himself. facts are that mostly anything and everything can be explained by science, and things that can't be explained by science will not be filled by bronze age bullshit. not one prophecy has come true.
@iPriestHolmes I never at one time said that you were not a good person? I don't know you. Even if I did I would not judge whether or not you are a good person. I was using myself as an example. I could not image when i die standing in front of the God of everything having denied him all my life when he has so much love for me. I didn't always belief in the bible but after a GREAT deal of study i have realized that it is true. So many prophecies have come to pass. No Offense intended at all.
@AppleSouffle Christians don't hear the voice of God literally, they are guided by the scriptures. I don't really see Christians killing people in the name of God or Jesus very often. It's very very very rare. Islam is a different story. Regardless, these people work harder than you can even imagine. They deserve a great deal of respect. Look at the wicked world we live in today..pornography, prostitution, drugs, alcohol, crime. They are right and you know it.
@neener420420420 -> "I don't really see Christians killing people in the name of God"
Lol, a remarkable piece of ignorance! Dear friend, Christianity is what has by far the largest and fiercest of 'killings' (in the name of god) throughout history, with no other religion coming anywhere in proximity. Just read your history book, let me help you: "Crusades, massacre of pagans, catholic inquisition, persecution of jews, witch hunt, genocide of locals and so on" - ALL in the name of god.
(Cont.) Or, are you referring to the "contemporary" modern followers in particular?
Well, the fact is, the overwhelming majority of contemporary Christians are "secular absolute", and have little to no influence of religion over their mindset. Christians today have now revolutionarily reformed (essentially altered) their doctrines in conformity with secular understandings, much after the social renaissance that spanned centuries. So, don't confuse "present-day Christians" with "Christianity".
@neener420420420 I don't mean for this message to offend your feeling but you don't know all Islamic people, Islamic people are just nice and peaceful as much as everyone on this world. It is some group of men who uses the name of Allah to kill others, they are not Islam. The same goes to many wrongful situations that are created by people who uses the name of God. Please don't judge Islam in the wrong way, we are all people of Nature.
Way to go Efraim! Jesus is NOT religion, I'm so glad you could see that! I pray that you keep your faith in our Lord and Savior Jesus, and you have such a beautiful family!
The bishops in the Amish community remind me of the Pharisees during Jesus' time.

Keep talking to God and let him direct you in what you should do. Hang on to God not the Amish religion. God has so much more for you to experience.

Debbie3720, these days, listening to an unseen voice is called schizophrenia.
I think - God told me to do it - has been used as an excuse for oppression and murder for centuries.
