  • tampons lol

  • Lovely. I'd have another lighter in there too.

  • Great video Mike. I really like your choices of kit.

  • hey man, just wondering, what is that pouch you used called for the possibles pouch and where did u get it?

  • @woody000555

    Hi there,

The pouch was made by Artkis and is a compass pouch.

    hope this helps

  • Between the sharpenstone and the gaffareel... At 7:15 he says something like... "Some strong fred"... What is that... ???.

  • @JanHuniche end he says some strong thread...

  • @JanHuniche he meant thread like sewing thread

  • interesting, that mora looks exactly like my bahco knife i use at work! but diff color, joint company perhaps,

  • LMFAO TAMPONS

  • where do you go when you're on a hike? i have no good ideas

  • o nice

but i think not the right

    and to much

it's for the kits to camping

  • chlorine dioxide droplets are just a effective and it tastes like tap water

  • Comprehensive getup. But why two firesteels and 2 lights?

  • hey mike i am a big fan, and i wondered why do u prefer hammocks insted of a tent? and what do u think aboat tents??

  • @iwalkedinawall

I certainly do prefer a hammock and tarp over a tent, im not one for sleeping on the floor any more. I do how ever think tents do have their place, like when i go into the mountains and there are no trees!!

    hope this helps you

  • @wall2rockclimber

    thanks for answering, mike.

  • I would like to note that (and perhaps you've addressed this in a prior video that I haven't seen) You don't seem to have any reflector for emergency signaling. You could use a flat mirror, a small/thin piece of polished metal, or the least space consuming and weightless thing of all that would work is a piece of tin foil which could have multiple other purposes like if folded it could make a lightweight bowl or cup, cook on, or roll it to make a funnel...would seem practical.

  • Where do you get you awesome pants

  • its got the quick release

  • man im so up for this shit now..

im off to get lost in the woods for a month or so.. be back when im dead.

  • @AbattoirDream LOL :)

  • nce video, great kit, really good job pal, nice to see a kit that doesnt have 90 items :D

  • drop the knife stay with the multi tool (assuming it has a knife)

  • Gd vid I likes what your carrying, how where u carrying the thread? On what?

    Thanks

  • where can u get the victoryinox card

  • its better to have a plastic whistle so you dont freeze your lips to it in the freezing weather

  • nice kit

  • Great video

  • I've got a similiar kit but it all fits in the sheath pocket of my Cold Steel Bushman

  • do u live in the woods????

  • Lol 2:07 Car

  • Double fishermans knot on the knife, yosemite bowline for the loops, amirite?

  • @aseglkj ye your bang on mate

  • @wall2rockclimber british dude! you rock just for that!

  • As usual, great vid, Mike! A couple things... ever thought of waxed dental floss? I have actually sewed a wound with it and it makes a pretty decent fishing line as long as your not going for marlin. And it's already rolled tight to boot. Also, tampons are used by both our spec forces as battle dressing material. Good choice for your kit. Keep up the good work!

  • don't forget the blow up dolly...... wales ? blow-up sheep

  • nice gear i like all the gear

  • wait a minute! you said light this time?? I thought you guys over there always say torch, maybe it's a preference? lol I'm not being a jerk friend just having a laugh

  • YOUR SMALL KIT IS GOOD . BUT THERE IS A FEW THINGS YOU NEED TO ADD. LIKE SOME SPIDER WIRE FISH LINE...NOT MUCH AND SOME FISH LEADERS AS SNARES FOR SM GAME. FOOD IS FOOD IF STRANDED!

  • Good one. And that's from a 62 year old git who's been doing this for a while. Cheers. Mind you, I haven't had my huge Swiss Army job more than about a metre away from me for time for the past thirty years. Except for flying, of course. Always remember that the next time you'll have it will be at the carrousel. Unless you've landed at Thief Row (Or Colombo) of course, so bury it deep. Feel free to update, but you've pressed the right buttons. Oh, and I cheat: I got some LED lighters from £Land!

  • do you allways go alone??? you shoudn´t...

  • @deojett Thats the most stupidest thing i have heard!

No one to burden me, no one to worry about and no one to mess the trip up but me.

Hmmmm i think i will stick with me, myself and i

  • @wall2rockclimber LOL I agree!

  • @wall2rockclimber hmmm tho survival doctrine says u should always tell someone where you're going, when you'd be back etc. usually having a buddy makes things easier. it's an essential in some situations.

  • @wall2rockclimber haha nice =P

  • @wall2rockclimber You also die by yourself if you get pinned under a tree .

  • @wall2rockclimber

No kidding. No gadget-needy wankers stumbling over a cliff as they text they're falling over a cliff. Most people are ballast and most girls' sense of adventure stretches no farther than their hair dryer cord. I hike in the woods to get away from people. Maybe I'd take along a dog if that. Nice kit.

  • @wall2rockclimber one is none two is one

  • @wall2rockclimber I agree, although I don't go alone I take the dog, good company doesn't whinge and he does what I do, I don't have someone there boring me shitless and whingeing ;-)

  • @deojett lmao

  • @ wall2rockclimber There's no way that pouch weighs 7 pounds! And xvxTaNtRuMxvx's point is more that "survival kit" means it's for letting you survive which means keeping you alive. Possibles pouch means it's got... possibles? It just sounds uppity and unrelated to what it does. The kit is great it's the name that needs revision.

  • Wow I love your setup! It's great! Do you always have your knife out of your belt with your shirt tucked in if you're just going into the city? i love the setup though!!

  • you mentioned silvermans... are you a millatary man?

  • Hey mate, love your videos, very informative.

Just wondering if you've ever been in a situation where you've actually needed any of this stuff, and if so what would you or could you have improved?

    Cheers

  • @xvxTaNtRuMxvx

then it would be called a survival kit no????

exactly its a kit to be used every day hense the "possibles pouch" name

  • @xvxTaNtRuMxvx there two different things, survival kit is a number of things to help you in a survival situation, a possibles pouch is a way of orgonising things you would like close to your body at all times!

  • Nice video!

  • is that a "Raiders" belt? That looks like a wade egans buckle...?

  • Wow its illegal to carry a knife in Great Brittian without a permit?

Shoot Id be in trouble then I never leave the house without one. lol

  • If your going to call someone else an idiot, make sure you use correct spelling first otherwise its like the pot calling the kettle black lol.

  • Why don't you just carry fishhooks ?

  • @mwillblade

they dont have as mutch lakes and streams in england

  • they can be but why not just take some fish hooks??

  • nice kit, looks a lot like my pouch

  • listen people if u people havent got all thise and want to become an outdoor person well think about it once you get all that and you dont know how to use it youl be dicapointed

  • You provided very good ideas for your last ditch kit. I really liked your use of the quick release, swiveled keyrings and carabiners. THANKS for the information and your time.

  • @TheDason1234 how old r u?

  • very nice kit

  • Didn't understand the function of the piece of the inner tube.

    Very competent video, nice presentation

  • nner tube lights on a flame when wet (last resort firelighting)

  • no it burns a really black smoke for signaling

  • sorry mate, its for wetfire lighting, if he wanted to siganl with inner tube hed need ALOT of it

  • great video:) thanks

  • If the tampon fits in the little tube (with the brass-wire) you could suck water through it. Tampons make good waterfilters.

  • very interesting. just an idea, perhaps include some fishing hooks to use with the thread you've included.

  • I drank Iodine water for a whole month in Peru and tbh i kinda like the taste. My only issue was that, after the trip, my old platypuss looked like i peed in it.

  • I think you'd like the Blackhawk Biners for holding your gear on your belt like this, much stronger than those cheap ones...

  • Good knife! mora frost right?

Frost knifes are often used as working/tool knifes her in sweden, they are very strong and quite sharp in the beginning, and they are cheep to, so if you break one, just buy a new one for about 40kr (5 dollars)

  • i'd recommened always taking a filter and purification tabs + iodine and not to carry any water. 3 litres is heavy !

i have a dc4 but would never take it on trips as i'd rather use a stone from a stream if need be and wait till i'm home to sharpen. As far as tacks go i wouldnt even pack those - too dangerous ! splat the sharpener into some mud if need be.

I just cam back from wild camping alone in snowdonia for 6 days and took much kit i never even needed. Won't make the mistake again

  • hi mate you proppbly know this but if you want to snare animals with snare wire you need to hide the scent from the animals you want to snare so buerry it for three days then you can use it because the scent will go away bye

  • or if the place your snaring at if its active there will be droppings, this doesnt osund so good but but the droppings on your hands and snare wire and that masks the scent.

  • greath vid love your pouch keep up the good work m8

  • hi mike

can you tell me some web sites to buy cheap bushcraft gear from cheers

    tommy

  • I suggest changing water purification. Iodine doesn't kill cryptospiridium

  • Hi Mike,

    Nice Vid.

Perhaps something to think about, i see the fire strike in the poss pouch hasnt got the metal strike part attached. Say you lose your knife and your matches get wet (it could happen!) I guess the point of the poss pouch is to have the life essentials at hand if you lose the rest of your kit, so maybe its one to add. Just an observation not a dig.

    Keep up the good work.

  • no, thats a valid point. but i must add if you have the chance of loosing your knife then you are not storing it properly, that knife will not leave my side!

  • brilliant . good to see a brit making a video cause most of the websites and vids i see are made by yankees(no offence)

  • that's the bear grylls' shirt? and in another video a can see that you have a bottle of water like he uses. I'm a bear grylls' fan too. greetings from Argentina

  • it is the shirt yes, but i am not a fan of bear grylls,

    sorry to disappoint.

    mike

  • don't worry. ;)

  • @wall2rockclimber I don't know anyone who is serious about wilderness survival who IS a fan of Bear Grylls. I know I'm not.

  • You could use the leather cover of your sharpening stone as a strop to get a better edge on your blade too. Or use your belt if it is leather.

  • you don't have a fishing kit. is it because you don't live near the water?

  • spot on mate, there is no need for me to carry something that would not get used, if i do go to an area with water then i would take one.

sometimes even a cheap compact rod and reel

  • lol even take it when going to the dentist LOL?

  • Keeping your basic items, fire water knife shelter food. on your person is key

  • Compact and interesting storage of few but usefull items.

  • yeaa frost mora i just got mine 2day from mail!

  • actually they recommend that you dont use super glue because it can infect the wound. look for "Celox" its the best on the market. Another thing is what veterinarians use to close wounds on animals.

  • I have the same Mora and love it, but the sheath sucks. It's always falling off my belt. I'd pay decent money for a quality replacement in leather or cordura...

  • ive seen kits wid 100 items and this swill do the job jus like em its not how much but what u carryi mean he had like 20 difrent fire startens 1 or 2 good jees

  • air pistol would be good for hunting rabbits

  • finaly a good kit. i been checking peoples kits for ideas all day!

  • y dont u have an extra knife or do u carry that in ur other bag?

  • Hi. You are probably right for your environment. Here in Argentina, having a blanket makes sense as you find high winds only in Patagonia. In the bush area they are really useful as shelters, water collecting and signalling. Also we have to use bigger blades 8 to 9 inches minimum. Good kit though.

  • Why don't you carry an emergency blanket?

  • hi there, i dont like to carry those types of blankets as they shred in high winds and so become use less. thanks for you comments, i have now up dated my kit shown in some of my other videos

  • hey just wondering if you could recommend a good supplier of paracord in th UK? thanks

    P.S great vid

  • hi eclipse159,

best place i have found is surplus stores or ebay you can get the cheap stuff or the 550 stuff

  • Little tip from the Boy Scouts....Magnatize your sewing nettles so you can make a compass with them in a pinch.

  • sorry mate, unless you carry the Magnatized sewing needles separate to the compass you will ruin the polarity of the compass

  • Hi, nice kit! You can get small quick release clips/shackels from marine chandlers. They do not break or come undone. I use them as a safety feature on my driving horses harness (that is how strong they are!) and to attatch kit to my belt. Best wishes, Lizzie

  • IIRC those iodine tablets are 1 per 0.5 liters of water, so with 50 tabs you have 25l. of potable water.

Also, those quick-releases are prone to bending or snapping. Thrust me on this, they WILL fail!

But it's definately a pretty good PSK

  • hi jim,

i did double check those iodine tablets they are 1 per litre, so i do get what i said 50 litres of water. and for the quick release i can change them relatively easily, but i have changed my pouch now so no need to worry.

    mike

  • nice kit im from england but i dont no many shops to get this stuff from do you no any.

  • Even in my vast experience with hiking and climbing in Canada and living on minimal supplies I would say this is a very clean compact kit with nothing in it that I would call un-necessary. I pack a similar kit when going in the back country that is slightly more minimal but I say this is a nice kit!!

  • thank you very much, i have now refined my kit and take a little more with me as its got a few more survivaly type items,

    thanks for your comment

    mike

  • Well done. Will definetly start carrying these items.

  • the tampon tinder idea is a really good idea! that's something i'll be sure to add to my kit.

  • how good is the DC 4, i just bought a DC3 and want to know before it arrives., and i carry a role of dental floss as its stronger than thread. you get a 50 meters in a little role pack

  • thank you for the tip with the dental floss, the dc4 stone is ok but i have broke it, the diamond stone came apart from the fine stone, nothing that abit of super glue couldnt fix

    cheers

    mike

  • a sharpening stone for a huge beekiller? Lol.

  • LOL

How did u discover the tampon tinder idea?

I noticed the British like to wear bottom up colar shirts on hikes. Also those pants that have those large knee patches.

  • when i was at school on the wrestling team we used tampons to stop nose bleeds

  • they're also the perfect size for a gunshot wound of either 5.56m or 6.72mm rounds.

  • is that knife a mora?

  • the innertube burns well , even when wet

  • Very remote wilderness with all that traffic in the background lol... jk :)

  • i just got my mora yesterday and i love it already! keep up the great vids man

  • Invest in a swiss army knife mate you won't regret it.

  • i have one and i never use it out of the house

multi tools (GERBER) is the way forward

  • I agree. A Gerber or Leatherman is the way to go now'a'days for any small folder. Swiss Arny Knives are not as strong and the blades are much to weak to be used on their own for bush survival. One really good strong bush knife should be carried. Frost Mora (as you have) is one of the cheapest reliable bush knives you can get.

  • yes though folding knifes are a little dodgy you know you cant do certain knife teqniques. nothing is as good as a decent knife

  • no way, a good knife is the best thing. if you had to take 1 item, a knife would be the most senciable. maybe because you use a mora clipper. buy a decent knife for more then a 10er. i agree mora clippers are nice knifes but they dont compare to a nice *full tang* knife.

  • True. Nothing beats a full tang. No chance of it breaking or the handle coming loose as can happen with a 'Hidden Tang'

What I was saying about the Frost Mora was simply that its the BEST of the cheap knives avaliable. It was one of my first owned knives when I was young and I still have it.

  • oh yes definately so. sorry if i seemed rude

  • Nahh...thats ok. No worries mate.

  • Wenger Ranger 156 is is a really good knife

  • i love going out i go almost every weekend i take my kit with me which i might make a video soon.i fish with a line lol i caught one last week and slowly cooked on some rocks i heated up,it was tasty i have similar stuff you have.5 stars.brill!!!!

  • waht do you mean US BRITS

  • if you watch my other videos you will see i have plenty thanks!! and a knife doesnt need to be that big for bushcraft or survival

  • Good work mate keep the good work up i can tell your a fan of ray mears

  • Em I tought the point of the ouch was incase you lost your main pack, if thats the case why do you have the inner tube in there but the kighter in your pack? If it's just to complement you pack then it looks gd to me.

  • ye it is and your right i meant to say i left one in my pack to go in the pouch if you check my new video its in there now

  • Ok mate thanks for clearing that up

  • I think you should put in a folding hunting knife in your little pouch incase you loose your pack and your survival knife. If you have no room on the inside then you could take some paracord and tie it on the outside. I would put a Gerber knife in or on it if it were me, or Buck or Case. :)

  • nice, but whats the tube 4?

  • if you was talking about the inner tube of a bike tyre, i use this for fire lighting in extreme wet weather, it can be submerged in water and then lit with a lighter.

  • im glad some one else agree's with me, its made in sweden home of bushcraft, so for the money you cant go wrong i also issue these knives to people i take out with me

thank you all for your comments and you support

  • hey can you help me out i bought a bcb fire steel and i want to know the best way to strike it cause the one it came with is crap

  • dude how much was that knife it looks like it was 40 dollars. i really doubt that that thing is a decent survival knife.

  • this knive is a frosts mora and about 80% of bushcrafters used this knive as there first, this is and will be for time to come a good top spec knive.

  • trust me i have one its really sharp and its awsome, comfortable to use and strong

  • this may be true but i prefer the sog seal team elite and tom brown tracker knife! both somewhat pricey but definitely worth it!

  • ye and that said most of us bushcrafters in england dont use fighting knives for bushcraft, im not mocking US knives but with recent knive crimes there is no need for those type of knives

  • nice pouch!!

    Where did you get it???

  • this space is for comments not slagging matches save it for the forums guys

    cheers
