@prettyinpink53 No, they're going around the dounut to show the viewers that they can avoid walls and turn when something is in the way. It would be a sure cute race though.
Given that all the robots aimed at the obstructing robot and then veered away towards the wall... and that the first robot freaked out when it saw the obstruction and caused the school to come to a halt... and that it noticed the obstruction so late that it led the school to what appears to be the narrower side, it seems there is still a lot of work to do!
I imagine that the fish leading a school are not using the same rules as those following!
