Fresh water source isn't an option sometimes near the ocean (or source that can't be simply filtered). A distiller needs takes too long. The Katadyn Survivor pump can produce 35 gallons of fresh water a day. Also removes dissolved chemicals, nerve agents, viruses, bacteria etc.
One thing you might want to try is to put the pump in a 5 gallon bucket dig a hole deep enough to allow water to flow over the top yet keeping sand out you could get the pump deeper into the water and reduce the pumping sound as well.
I like you videos because they are not just the negative crap most survivalist videos are. You give actual tips that can help, not just go on and on about how in a survival situation everyone is going to fail at everything. You don't have that holier than thou attitude that many survivalist have. Thank you. I'm stuck because of flooding in the Midwest, so I'm going to sit down and watch all your videos today.

Thats pretty neat . Have you ever looked into ram pumps ? I believe you would find these very interesting . They move water without electricity .

This video was shot at the camp, not at my house. The water is drinkable, but we bring bottled water with us when we go to the camp.
