  • I love this a lot. First artsy one I've seen.

  • I had this camera and the XL1, served me well. But both are replaced now dude to the Canon 7D, amazing. I love this video man, great work and editing. Could of rendered it without the borders, and got it to 16:9 aspect ratio. But still great

  • what settings did you have it in?

  • @justkrump

I always have the settings in manual and as raw as possible everything else is in post.

    the only thing that I set the camera for is / 16:9 - 24 p - 1/48

  • @orzmono when i set my videos 16-9 i alwase get the same box you have in your vid right now. any clue on how to do away with that or would i just need to film in 4:3

  • Great Sun Rise at the end.

  • Hey! Awesome looking! What compression settings did you use for this video you have uploaded to YouTube???

  • I used an Mpeg4

  • Tks.....

  • Great Video............I may try something like this with my panasonic AG DVC20P...........By the way, how did you accomplish the, "picture frame" shots within the video?

    Thanks;

    Torchidman.....

  • By just adding a picture shot sound (downloadable on the internet I guess) and freezing that part of the video + adding black and white. Depends on what software you use to edit clips.

  • exactly like that, thanks for helping

  • hey Orlando, you shoot this in AV mode on the Canon XL2?

  • please tell me. are you using a boom mic?

  • no boom mic for this video

the sound track was recorded in Logic pro

  • I really like your video love the clips of the random people. I was planing on buying a XL2 of my own for my films. are you happy with yours?

  • @vinsunchild I'm happy with mine i did a quick test of the DoF of the XL2 check it out.

  • hey, love your videos Orlando great work...

I especially like this one and your rabbit shot.

    Really nicely done.

  • thanks for all your comments

  • Hi dude,

I've also Canon XL2. I liked your focus shots. Did you used any other lenses while recordings that focus shots or were they recorded on default lens? If they were default can you explain me the details? For example do i have to make on the stabilizer etc.

    Thanks :)

  • DOF is achieve with the standard canon lens. by zooming close enough to one object to and other in the distance so in this shot I put the camera close to the chain zoom in to make the shot tied and the bird in is focus the I pulled the focus back and now the chain is in focus and the BG out of focus

    thanks for your comments

  • I love the shot with the chain and bird tvery nice DOF...good stuff bro

  • thank you very much nice comments

  • Is it silly for me to ask what filters you were using?

I am a novice, but know enough to know that your film is something to aspire to......

    Respect and blessings

  • thank you for your comments I haven't post any video lately but working on it something would be up soon

  • I have now my XL2 and for nothing will change it with any HD camcorder

  • I'm glad to gear that cause I feel the same way

  • This is fantastic, great job. Its sad to see the homeless people, but you did a nice thing in showing their pain to the public.

  • it's a film about a homeless man waking up at 5pm.

  • jajaja actually thats not a sunset, it is a sunrise, take a closer look again :-)

  • great shots man!

  • This is great O.Z. I like the cameras and the editing is very good my friend

  • thanks a lot jose,

let me know when can I see your documentary

    can wait.

    thanks for stopping by

  • same question what did Program did you use to edit this footage very good work.

  • what editing software are you using... send me message if your using final cut

  • unbelievable how good it is.

  • hey quick question. did you color correct any of the images or was it all natural?

  • Most definitely color corrected. lovely!

  • i love this video i cant stop watching it its very artistic

  • That one sun set at the end was awesome. 24p will give you some amazing results

  • nice

  • Very nice...

  • Love it, very artistic!

  • very nice. what method did you use to transfer your footage onto your computer?

  • very nice

  • Very nice.

    Good job.

  • did you use any lenses to get the shallow depth of field? if not, how did you do it?

  • no I didn't use any lenses, but the one that comes with the camera.

  • can you please tell me how you do the timelapse stuff?

  • Great Work!!!

  • fuking beautiful

  • An amazing video. It's nice to see someone opening up their iris on people in society that are so often marginalized and forgotten.

The shots in your vid are awesome. I just bought an XL2 and it's nice to see it's potential.

    Great job!

  • nice

  • Well done

  • The quality is really good. Good job! May I ask format you used to upload this? All my videos I upload on youtube look awful after you tube have proceseed them.

  • I just export my final video to a MPEG 4 quit time file format, and upload it

good luck and thanks for your comment.

  • YouTube says AVI is the best format to upload with.

  • AVI/MOV, it doesn't matter.

They're just a carrier. The actual codec is what matters.

You could have an Mpeg4 avi or mov.

    I usually upload divx video.

    1000kbps.

    Etc..

  • cool i liked the ending

  • Very nice, what kind of tripod do you have?

  • @orzmono

hey very nice footage, but i have a question for u

see, i have the same cam, but i dont use collor filters/settings on the cam, so i shoot in natural colors and edit it in final cut express..

do u do the same? or do u set up the collors on the camera?

  • Wow, this depth of (un-/)sharpness! Like 35mm cinema look! which lense did you use? the standard lense?

did you ever have problems with the camera by wetness/dampness? I had twice! very sensitive..even humidity

  • It is just the lense of the canon XL2, so far no problems with the camera

  • its the 24p feature that shoots in 24 frames per second so it mimics 35mm it really can improve if you do get a better lense... but its all looks good

  • i loved the rack focus

  • You just sold an XL2. Although I'm a little worried at something this expensive being my first camera though.. I'm looking to make short films as a begginer, wise choice of camera or not? great work by the way, what did you use in post production?

  • you think i could reach almost the same picture with canon hv20? it has that 24p cinema mode. i dont think i will ever have the money for xl, but to spent thousand for something that won't look as beautiful as yours is also not wise

  • HV20 has 1/4" chips. XL2 has 1/3" chips. So the XL2 is better.

  • wow

  • Great demo! Just bought the camera and its great to see the results of someone putting it to good use.

  • I'm so happy to see this. I just bought this camera and this is a wonderful demo for it. Nice eye, too.

  • Wow you used that XL-2 Right, I love the colors, they went perfect with all the shots and the music. Nice job man.

  • thank you

  • The men in this vid look like Che Guevara. :D

  • I'm amazed, just loved it,

    keep on it!

  • amazing

  • Que bien~

  • great job!, keep the good work

  • i watched and enjoyed.

  • thank you all for your positive commnets on this video

I am very happy that a lot of people like it.

  • wow, that was beautiful.

  • Great video. You have a good eye

  • nice video! i've got sooo much to learn about encoding... ugh

  • what aspect ratio are you using for this edit ???

  • Just Regular 16:9

  • fucking great man this is good

  • thanks a lot, I'm glad you like it!

  • yea i'm upgrading to the xl2 hopefully in 2 weeks so i cant wait bro, just trying to find a really good deal

  • that was very professional ,I love filming and watching other people work and let me tell you , well done

  • thank you very much

  • hey... question about the last scene with the sunset speeding through... did you get your XL2 to capture a frame at long intervals or did you actually leave it recording for that long? It seems longer than 60 minutes (the length of a mini-DV tape) and I was just curious.

I like this film by the way.

  • Thank you I set my XL2 on intervals of 2 sec every 30 sec for a total of 4 sec per minute and live it recording for about 15 minutes, then speed it up on final cut 1000 times.

I like that tecnique a lot

  • lovely

  • HI.. exelent video. I am about to purchase a XL2... any recommmendations? also... dow does it work wiht Final cut pro??

    thanks

  • Orzom.

I know you, and I will not acept less from you, Is very good.

    I like it.

    Keep it up...

    E.F.

  • Nice video. Very professional looking and the quality is beautiful. I'm debating whether I should get a Canon XL-2 as well, and I was wondering if you used some sort of adapter to give it a really professional look. Thanks and again, great video.

  • thanks for you comments on my video.

I did not use any lence adapter for shooting this, but I had filters, to increse contrast and shadow definition. I use color correction in post with Final Cut Pro and Magic Bullet, I also composed the sound track using loops from Garage Band.

  • very professional and I like the quality.

  • Thank you very much

  • hi, and the pictures u took in the video is it in the camera or software? sorry for too much questions but its interesting, im getting into the videos

  • the pictures are freeze frames from the same video retouch in post with final cut

  • hi how did u add the 2 black lines ? is it in the video or a software? if its in the video whats the option called cause ive got a sony HDV FX7E

  • Great work!
