Just for the record, this album, Pretty Hate Machine, was released in 1989 way back before Lacey's dirty lil cooter had a single curly hair on it, let alone before she was singing in what she calls a professional capacity. The mediocre version Flyleaf did, with Lacey's over-intonation dripping fake anguish all over real lyrics wasn't first, or comparable. Comparing the two is like saying you made something on your Etch-A Sketch that looks "fuckin exactly" like Van Gogh's "Starry Night".

As for depressing, I'd say this is rivaled by "Creep" by Radiohead.

This is definitely right up there in both categories, though.

Oh, and another creepy one is Ludo's "The Horror of Our Love." That one's based on a true story in which a man killed and ate his wife to be closer to her. It's worth a listen.

It's a great song based on Dennis Nilsen, a serial killer who targeted mainly gay men to kill and kept their dead bodies around his apartment to keep him company. The police didn't catch him until neighbours started finding human hands clogging up the drains..

I love how if you listene hard enough you can hear birds chirping a few seconds into it.. To me that sort of induces a flashback on an emotional basis..For example..When you're that emotionally distraught everything seems so distant except nature, It's as though you're in a meditative state of mind that isnt self-induced and all other sounds are inconspicuous yet the sound of crickets or Birds chirping seem to be more prominent or noticeable for some unknown reason.
