  • she only sold for sixty thousand?!?! wtf?!?!?!

    she's way better than that!!!!

  • I must be getting better at understanding auctioniers or something.......i actually understood this.

  • She is tall for a yearling!!

  • Now that's a bargin!

  • busta ryhmes

  • No one would have ever figured that they were in the presence of the Queen of Racing.

  • Got to love those "KRIS S" mares. Their babies are SO TOUGH & ATHLETIC. I was at the sale...bought a couple of "POSSE" colts. Wasn't in the market for fillies, BUT, man, did I blow it on this one. GOD ONLY KNOWS...you either hit on a GREAT ONE or not.

There are SO MANY VERIABLES to getting a GREAT racehorse. Look at "The Green Monkey"...so, again, You hit or miss. THE BEST TO THE MOSS'S BABY FROM THE GREATEST FILLY EVER...(well maybe RUFFIAN would have given her a shot???) :>)

  • @LauraJdogmom darn!

  • sounds like he is singing!!

  • 00:29 WTF!!!!

  • If they only knew what a hell of a horse they were bidding on.

  • @hannahhorsego I think they did their homework. The videos of her Dad's races are pretty awesome. Plus Dottie's son's a smart guy :)

  • @SantaInesRanchGTO I was just thinking that. Her ears were darting all over the place!!

  • Sounds like a song

  • wow.....

  • Even better than that, Seattle Slew sold in 1975 for $17,500. If that's not an incredible deal, I don't know what is. :)

  • Can you imagine how the guy who gave up at $55k feels today?

  • @qhsperson ya he would be like, FUCK! lol

  • She seems so calm O.o

  • I'm in for...$61,000!

  • Zenyatta + Gio Ponti = 20 Grade I victories

Zenyatta + Gio Ponti = over 13.4 million dollars in earnings

    2009 Breeders Cup Classic = P-R-I-C-E-L-E-S-S

  • @westinniles - Goldikova had 12 or 13 GR1 wins also, with six of them in Open Company.

  • @TicinoParadise

    Goldikova?

    Who the fuck is that?

Is she some "wog" from Europe?

  • @FUCKUflylion132 you are an idiot

  • @FUCKUflylion132 Goldikova is a turf filly unbeaten until 2011 her last race she lost was the breeders cup she also won 3 other breeders cups shes a champion <3

  • I'll bid $65,000.... drat I'm too late :0) was there ever a better buy? I had no idea she was bought so cheaply until now. Bargain of a lifetime

  • @FIST2k8 Genuine Risk was a bargain, too, something like $32k. She didn't have Zen's career, though.

  • This Beautiful animal is worth soo much more than that

  • Turn on captions LOL

  • owners were happy she had a skin condition at the time. lolz

  • Talk about getting a great deal 60.000 and earning 10.000.000 that's a heck of a bargain.

  • Lmao :D

  • why does he talk so fast :\ lmao and 60,000... bargain lmao

  • transcribe audio..... OMGGG. roflmao.

  • SECRETARIAT was worth more! he was worth like 6-7 MILLION bucks!

  • @sparky681000

    Are you on dope?

  • @DBJKAJ urg! no! i have no clue what that is! im only 13! durr! just saying secretariat was worth more!

  • She is so pretty but I like Ruffian better

  • @trosselit

You mean that filly that never beat males? She died trying though. She crumbled like Humpty Dumpty on the backstretch of Belmont Park when Foolish Pleasure was at her throatlatch. He gave her no easy lead that day and looked her "in the eye" until she folded like a cheap tent. Front runners (like Ruffian) are under duress when they don't have an easy lead. They "react" and tend to spit the bit. "Go for Wand" is a prime example (when Bayakoa made her cave in past the 1/16 pole).

  • @westinniles

You hit the nail right on the head. Pace pressure crushes horses. Many front runners have died when receiving pressure. I have a list of 'em.

If you watch the 1990 Breeders Cup Distaff, you can "actually" see the the older mare (2-time champion "Bayakoa) not letting up on the filly ("Go for Wand"). The shadows of the grandstand tell the tale as you can see Bayakoa coming up next to her and "Go for Wand" not being able to pull away like she normally did in all her races.

  • I love Zenyatta, but listening to the Auctioneer here is enough to send me into into spasms. Or, give me flashbacks from the early '90's.

    "I'm the Scatman!"

  • It nearly sounds like a song! O.o

  • Louisiana Downs I could have went I live in Louisiana

  • os compradores tiveram um lucro razoavel!!!!!!!!!!!!kkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk

  • that guy would probably be an awseome rapper...lol

  • Sounds like the new Hamsterdance!

  • Hollering "I'm ZENYATTA, get me out of here!!!"

  • bet they thought when they god the bill for her goddd how much i wasnt really listening

  • i didnt understand a word he said...

  • She looked good to me! Can't believe she didn't sell for more than 60k.

  • she did have ring worn thats part of the reason she sold for less. but what an amazign gurl <3

  • Street Cry is leaving quite a legacy!

  • that is cheep for a thoroughbred

  • @722cupcake mine was £1,700

  • @StarTheBorderCollie oh cool did u know she had a rash when he bought her

  • @722cupcake No she had a ringworm not rash

  • @horsesaremylife31899 oh sorry but u know what i mean

  • @StarTheBorderCollie A race horse ? Out of famous horses ?

  • Wow even I can't talk that fast o_o

  • only 60k??????

  • boy, when she was a yearling she was STILL super tall!

  • Zenyetta is like wtf is that guy saying

  • @SantaInesRanchGTO

I believe she put in a couple of bids herself.

  • @SantaInesRanchGTO More like, "I'm Zenyatta, get me out of here!!!" ;-)

  • wow! she was sold for literally nothing just goes to show you can spend a few thousand and come out with a superstar and a few million and you can get a something useless id say she was bargain of the century considering how much her foals are going to be worth

  • @beedlebugs It's unlikely that any of Zenyatta's foals will be sold. The Mosses like to race their homebreds. Plus, her foals will be like their grandchildren. But considering that her nephew sold for $4.2 million, her babies would be worth at least that. Curlin was an even bigger bargain at this sale., He sold for $57,000, won over $10 million on the track, and can make millions as a stallion.

  • @LauraJdogmom The Mosses won't own the foal it belongs to Lanes End farm since that's where Zenyatta is stabled at.

  • @lilchi721 No, that's not true. Lane's End is a commercial boarding facility. Yes, they own mares, but Zenyatta is not one of them. The Mosses are still her owners; they pay Lane's End big bucks to take care of her. This is common practice in the Thoroughbred industry. The Mosses own Zenyatta, so therefore they own her foal.

  • @LauraJdogmom - How about Skip Away who was purchased for $30,000 and made almost 10 million. He was a great horse.

  • @TicinoParadise Yes, he was. When I mentioned Curlin, I meant horses sold at this particular sale. Skip Away was a great horse. Did you know that he is going to be reburied at Old Friends? They are starting a cemetery for Hall of Fame horses. He will rest beside another great, *Noor.. Seattle Slew was another bargain at $17,500. Of current horses, IIRC, Blind Luck was an $8000 yearling. I love it when "cheap" horses make good.

  • You folks don't seem to understand.... I've taken foals from being born to to 2 year olds..... I have NEVER seen a yearling with her stature!!

  • Worth the freaking money!

  • I dont know if she herd him, speaking in another language, she seems like she did, but for 60g, u just dont know what yall gonna get. (LOL from oz, no "Forrest Gump)

  • @farleyfarkle, of all the $1M+ horses at that sale, the best by far was Rags to Riches, 3-year-old champion flly and winner of the Belmont. She sold as hip # 423 for $1.9 million. Besides Zenyatta, another huge bargain at that sale was Curlin. He sold for even less--$55,000. Not bad for a horse that won over $10 million and still makes money standing at stud.

  • @Barbaro1, Pepper9873 is right. The Mosses will never sell her. They've already been offered millions for her. They love Zenyatta almost like a daughter. They talk to her on the phone almost every day. For real!

  • I wonder how many of the yearlings which sold for over 1 million at that sale made it to the track! Not bad for a mid-priced yearling!

  • who ever bought her sure got there moneys worth now that she is retired i just hope they plan on keeping her

  • @barboro1 I highly doubt the Mosses would ever consider selling her.

  • 60 K ???? lolololololololololololololololololooloololoololololololololololololololololololooloololololoololooolololololoolololololololololloolololololololololloololloolloololololololololooololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololololloloololo

  • An excellent purchase!

She was NOT happy ... but her new owners sure were just a few short years later.

  • does the auctioneer just learn not to breathe or something?

  • Did they guy who made this video edit the auctioneer's voice, or is that what he actually said?

  • oh...my...God

  • i bet there happy with that buy!!!!

  • Haha the auctioneers voice is a absolute crackup. Zenyatta sure was a stunning big horse. If i was the owner i wouldnt breed her with sea the stars id breed her with either the japanese wonder horse deep impact or the mighty horse from downunder So You Think.

  • Wow, such a Big Beautiful girl..........

  • this is a hell of a horse, who would want to sell her, do they see what they're missing...btw..she's bigger than my 10 yr. old thoroughbred gelding

  • Wow... the people who sold her must be hell pissed right now

  • She is bigger than my two year old O.o

  • @reconteskeTHANKS FOR THE INFORMATION I THOUGHT THAT MAYBE SHE GOT INJURED OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT. RACHEL ALEXANDRA'S EXPERIENCE AT FOUR IS NOT UNNUSUAL ACCORDING TO AN ARTICLE I READ IN THE DAILY RACING FORM. MOST CHAMPION FILLIES DO NOT COME BACK AND HAVE A GOOD FOUR YEAR OLD SEASON. MAYBE THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN THE SAME CASE WITH ZENYATA.

  • 60k for an American Hero!!! LOL!!

  • Oh my god! She sold for 60k and is such a fantastic horse and The Green Monkey sold for 16mil and never won a single race!

  • Damn!! He talks fast!!

  • I HAVE REALLY BEEN CAPTIVATED BY WATCHING THESE VIDEOS OF ZENYATA. BUT THE QUESTION I HAVE IS WHY SHE DIDN'T RACE UNTIL SHE WAS FOUR AND MAYBE THE HORSE RACING INDUSTRY SHOULD DO THIS MORE OFTEN INSTEAD OF FOCUSING ON THE THREE YEAR OLDS.

  • @rgarric2000 Zenyatta is a BIG filly/mare. Often is takes the larger ones more time to grow into their frame and for their muscles to catch up. Zenyatta's owners and trainers did the right thing by the filly by waiting and allowing her to mature. We'd have sounder horses and less traumatic injuries were all horses allowed to mature until 2-years before training to race at 3 and holding major stakes for 4-year-old and up only.

  • @reconteske THANKS FOR THE INFORMATION I THOUGHT THAT MAYBE SHE GOT INJURED OR SICK. I READ AN ARTICLE IN THE DAILY RACING FORM IN REGARDS TO RACHEL ALEXANDRA. IT STATED MOST THREE YEAR OLD FILLY CHAMPIONS DO NOT COME BACK AND DO WELL THE NEXT YEAR IF THEY RACE. MAYBE THE SAME THING WOULD HAVE HAPPENED TO ZENYATA.

  • omg the already have a chain or bit in her mouth its no wonder people find this sport abuse i like horse race but damn for a yrling to have that in there mouth COME ONE they are still babies

  • @barboro1 The bit in her mouth is a rearing bit, and it is there for the handlers safety. Trust me, you would want them to have it too if you were leading around a 1000lb baby. Young Thoroughbreds are very high strung and can be unpredictable. It is a safety measure, not cruelty.

  • @LiLmissinez any young horse is high strung still no reason to use them if they would spend a little more time on ground work instead of thinking about nothing but racing then maybe they wouldnt need those things

  • As you said baby no baby need that if they are in the hands of somebody that knows what they are doing I have never used a bit on any horse under 2 yrs of age

    @LiLmissinez

  • LOOOOOOOL How fun..

  • Wow she sold for 60, 000! She is worth so much more now!

  • And 5 years later she became one of the greatest race hoses of all time. We love you Zenyatta!

  • What did he say?

  • awww she looks scared...

  • seriously, do those people even know what they're saying?!

  • 60,000...small price to pay

  • best... 60g... ever

  • Hot Dog, She was already an Amazon at 2 years old :) and such a Beauty !!

  • Hmmm.Im thinking ik y she didnt sell for so much. She was born on April 1(April Fools day).Maybe some people thought she was just a joke

  • WHAAHAHAHAAHA SOUNDS LIKE A SONGG!!!! yeahh chipmunks rap

  • The talking sounds like a freaky sped up Alvin+the chipmunks rap.

  • stressed, worried, alone, uncertain of their future, terribly unnatural enviroment, and to think I was once a part of this! so sad these wonderful young souls are nothing more than a commodity to bought and sold, broken down, overbred and more often than not, thrown away, confused, frightened and in chronic pain. Sorry to be a spoilsport, but lets face it, the only reason they get sent to slaughter is due to overbreeding for that "one in a million", good luck with that!

  • the guy in the back that was just about to bid probably made the biggest mistake if his/her life 1:17

  • HAHAHAHA. BRBRRPRPPRPRROROROR 45 45 45 inthebackrbrbbrbrbr45thankyourbbrrrprbrrr 50 rbrgrtrrpriehfisgfayuk<sfdukafdkuyafduyafdasufa 55 asudgafgag60fafg60agyesnosirf8fe7 60brrrbbabrtrrrbrbababrbyessirnosir60 in the back something 60

  • 60k are you kidding! Wow the person that sold her must be pissed!

  • Most people don't care about fillies (thus the low price). It's the colts that are the most popular. Zenyatta was successful in the 20 races she ran (small amount considering she raced till 6) because she was tall had a long stride. If she was less than a hand shorter (like Sec, MOW or Dr. Fager at 16.2) she would not have had the success she had. Of course those stallions mentioned would have beat her in a race. She was an exception, but males will usually win the biggest events, like the TC's.

  • @rcschumann secretariat and dr fager couldnt beat ruffian :P

  • Wow, how often do you see a yearling that looks like a 3yo!

  • @emmelby so far only 2, ruffian and zenyatta :D

  • It sousds like a song!! Autotune that and TA DA! You have a famopus horse and a famous song!

  • I'm amazed how quick he speaks

  • I''ve spent some time working around horses... and have never seen a yearling this big!!

  • @horshooer her and ruffian were massive yearlings

  • @pitzforlife74, the sale took place at Keeneland in Lexington, Kentucky. The Keeneland complex includes a beautiful racetrack, the usual backside facilities, and a sales facility. The sale occurred in September 2005. The September sale is one of the most important sales of yearlings in the world. It attracts some of the best-bred stock and some of the richest bidders. Curlin and Rags to Riches were also sold at the 2005 Keeneland sale. Curlin was a $55K bargain.

  • Stunning!

  • And she was just a yearling??? I've seen three year olds that look pathetic compared to her at one year old. Love at first start...congratulations to the Moss folks, and to the very talented agent that bought "Z" for them! What an awesome horse!!

  • How about the one or two people in the crowd that decided to stop their bidding and let her go at that price? Imagine how they feel about now. It is like winning the lotto and losing the ticket.

  • turn on "transcribe audio"

    lmao

  • some horses are sold for more than what they gonna win in their career.. this one was worth priceless for money

  • very talktetive

  • where was this sale held?...if someone ..could...not too familiar with the races ..but i know she has made me interested...lol ...one of a kind

  • @Sainglain, she was purchased by bloodstock agent David Ingordo on behalf of Jerry and Ann Moss.

  • Wow what a low price for her. Bidders who lost probably ain't happy. Lol

  • it sounds sorta like a song how fast they call O.o good thing i plan to be the jockey one day and cant own the horse so i wont need this :)

  • @TheDragonLake Ha! Same here. :)

  • @syren345 depends with the song thing- the heck are they even saying?! with the jockey- you wanna be a racer? (i'm probly wrong) i cant wait to get an apprentiship but first i gotta get out of the house, learn to ride on a sprinting horse, and attend an academy before i can even THINK about trying X3 if this doesnt work out i'm probly screwed for life >.>

  • @TheDragonLake Both. It's like a song, and I want to be a jockey. :)

  • She was calling out for the Moss'! How sweet is that?! She was such a beautiful baby and just look at how gorgeous she is now! Thanks for sharing this video!

  • 2010 HOTY......5 years later.......This horse is a top 50 all time. Period. End of story.

  • thats only about a 40 million dollar profit

  • my gosh! he would be a very good rapper! :D

  • Hahaha, I bet years later now, the other bidders are kicking themselves for now bidding higher on her! xD

  • Hahahaha! She only sold for 60,000 and it should've been 16,000,000. I'm serious!

  • Nice big model of a filly (ever notice the way she walks with her back legs? you could put a wheelbarrow between them but "perfect confirmation horses don't always win big races Its the two things "you can't see" The Heart and the Brain that are the most important - $60,000 in 2005 ha a "Real Bargain" she was bought "for nothing" - Who bought her? (I'm not American, I'm in Ireland) - I would like to see her have a "Sea The Stars" foal, then you might have another Champion ;-)

  • @sainglain I'm not in Europe but I've seen Sea The Stars run and I admit he's quite the runner! Too bad most people don't think that way ^^;

    Maybe next year, huh?

  • My OTTB was in the 2005 September yearling sale with Zenyatta. His name is Devilshire and he was a dark bay colt. Is there any way I can find the video of him in the auction?

  • i heard zenyatta's going to be in the kentucky derby, i hope she is even though thats highly unlikely :( but i can't wait to see her foal!

  • @HorseshoeStables11 She's too old to be in the Kentucky Derby, it's only for 3 year olds.

  • binggabaomb idiibbingbom 454545455455505550505055 binggakfkddpdapm LOL

what the hell thats not a talent to talk like that its just crazy

im going to find doc brown and borrow 100k just in case lol

  • Wow she looks like she walked off an old oil painting of a great race horse.

  • slowmotion please

  • themselves**

  • The person that sold her must be kicking themsleves is the arse!

And LOL the talking is priceless!

  • I wish she wasn't retiring. John Henry won Horse of the Year when he was 9. I just feel Z can show us more if she's given the chance.

  • @ickiepoo Me too. But think- Zenyatta has done so much for us already. She deserves some good time off and a boyfriend. I was hoping John would run her at Ascot, New Market, Meydan, etc. but I'm sure Z is happy. Go look at the video of her kicking up her heels in her paddock. It's posted by bloodhorsevideo.

  • whoa, speed talker

  • Can we do it all again?

  • She was lovely even then...and very vocal as well!

  • wow only 60,000 i could of became a millionair with that horse

  • nov 5th,2011...will win the bc classic

  • What a beauty! If they had only known then what a superstar she would turn out to be.....

  • cheap bid. i would have paid more for a tall filly

  • she went for 60 grand only as a yearling?? Who was to know, lol!!! Big yearling though, looks almost like a 2 year old even then.

  • From 60k auction filly, to multimillion dollar, 19/20 racing champion, her owners got there money's worth!!!! :D GO QUEEN Z!

  • Think of the poor bastard who had the 55K bid. Damn!

  • agon jdiehyspoaiushyduapd 645478 45454 8484846546546546 thats all i heard....
