Sonic Youth are terrible though, don't get me wrong I like my noise rock when its done properly eg, Big Black, Flipper, Controled Bleeding, Meatpuppets etc. But they are just terrible songwriters. With the mars Volta, I'm sure they could be great if they had a more organic sound, but its all too machine like, take away their guitar pedals and computers and they have nothing.

As someone with a very strong Scottish accent who has spent several years living abroad I can tell you for sure that with each encounter you must adapt your accent/speaking voice. The way I talk to my family compared to the way I talk to my foreign friends is completely different - my foreign friends would not understand me if I spoke to them the same way I speak to my family.
