how planets come to be invaded may be little different to how countries get invaded - what i mean is, think about how when a country is invaded it is based only on some politico's arguing with each other, who then employ their countries armed forces. the civilians are never part of it, and the armed forces just are expected to do what the governments in disgreement tell them.
same could apply with planets, ie you can get invaded & wiped out based on governing bodies arguing only.
i think that in 100 years human technology will be so advanced tat aliens wont want to take over earth. Yeah the aleins could still be more advanced than us but it wouldn't be worth the bother at that point because we would put up such a good fight. Steven Spielberg has managed to cheesify a great concept yet again. I agree with whoever said that they should focus on the ADULTS. The kids are utterly worthless. At least Noah Wyle's oldest son can fight the other is just worthless. Look at the reimagined Battlestar Galactica, look at Mad Men, look at Game of Thrones, Boardwalk Empire, and Damages. All of these shows are about high-stakes power-politics and the relationships people have w/ each other in high pressure situations. DROP THE KIDS!

Well... there are problems with the show. I mean, who is guarding supplies..then we have women having target practice with scarce ammunition. We have a kid that's been infected or latched on to that walks into the command center with an automatic. I guess the general population is dumb. Aren't there any guards anywhere? Maybe, this should be a feel good scenario, where women and men fight side by side....If it is ...1 season. They were lucky enough to get the guy that leads them. He's great.

@brttwtsn The difference of course being that Spartacus is somewhat original material, while GoT is just a book turned into a load of TV screenplays, with much more money thrown at it too. I don't disagree that GoT is a better final product, but I find the creation of Spartacus more impressive given the creativity needed to both write it and work within the budget. It would have been very difficult to mess GoT up by comparison.
I just watched the first episode and I was not impressed. If this show is to succeed they need to kill off all the cute but cloying kids and the goddamned moody teenagers with their fucking Dawson's Creek meets Smallville love triangles. Just stick to the conflicts between the adult human characters and their greater conflict with the aliens and the show will work. Anything less and this show will die.

Honestly, this show sucks. During the premier episode I thought I had missed the first hour cause they went uber-cheap and just had a kid do a voice-over plot intro. Way to cheap out, Spielberg. Then came the same-old, same-old; EVERYONE is supermodel handsome with a little brown make-up thrown on to look like "dirt". Oh my! How gritty and realistic!......not! G.o.T owns this like an iphone owns a cb radio.
Not that great, I wonder if it will even last 1 season? The action scenes are cool and all, but everything else about the show is lame. Too bad it has potential, but oh well we'll just have to wait for another show to come along, maybe Terra Nova will be awesome?

Why are all "modern" aliens portrayed as not having any clothes? This is really starting to bother me. One of the most basic and often used forms of technology is a pocket. It doesn't matter how advanced you are, if you dont have anywhere to store and carry your technology.

@leonia97 Have you actually been reading what I wrote? Clothes have a 3rd very important function. POCKETS! Our astronauts and pilots have a ton of pockets on their uniforms. Even environmental suits have special pockets on them. Pockets are a necessity for any race that uses technology. unless they have enough hands to carry everything all the time. If you use any technology for space travel, you will at least have environmental suits with pockets. Even if you have an exoskeleton.

Though similar in some ways, you're comparing apples and oranges. Both are fruit, but aren't the same. Science fiction and fantasy aren't identical, so Game of Thrones should not be a comparable series to this. American TV has been dry for science fiction. Heck, we have to use shows like Torchwood before we come out with something original like this.

@koshan92 No i think they got the idea for this show from some actually events check out the Ruwa, Zimbabwe story. It's about something that happened in the Ariel School that may put the whole children aspect of the story into perspective for you.

i personally think that the whole plot (while it may seem redundant with the whole invading alien scheme) is very interesting, and I can definitely the series going into more in-depth with the characters. For me I'm more interested in the sci-fi storyline, not so much the acting? True the whole thing with the kid drawing may seem boring but expands character. The sound/visual effects looks something like freddiew's videos. Falling skies isn't the best cinema, i would say, but has a great story!
-So, these aliens have mastered faster than light travel, the crafts are made from materials that can withstand impacts of space debris AT the speed of light, yet we can kill them with a single head-shot. Very realistic...not.
-The alien's science and society has been stable and peaceful enough to have progressed to the point they can master interstellar travel, but all they really want to do is attach space-lobsters to the spines of tweens? OMG, you kidding me?

Well... there are problems with the show. I mean, who is guarding supplies..then we have women having target practice with scarce ammunition. We have a kid that's been infected or latched on to that walks into the command center with an automatic. I guess the general population is dumb. Aren't there any guards anywhere? Maybe, this should be a feel good scenario, where women and men fight side by side....If it is ...1 season. They were lucky enough to get the guy that leads them. He's great.

@brttwtsn The difference of course being that Spartacus is somewhat original material, while GoT is just a book turned into a load of TV screenplays, with much more money thrown at it too. I don't disagree that GoT is a better final product, but I find the creation of Spartacus more impressive given the creativity needed to both write it and work within the budget. It would have been very difficult to mess GoT up by comparison.

I just watched the first episode and I was not impressed. If this show is to succeed they need to kill off all the cute but cloying kids and the goddamned moody teenagers with their fucking Dawson's Creek meets Smallville love triangles. Just stick to the conflicts between the adult human characters and their greater conflict with the aliens and the show will work. Anything less and this show will die.

Honestly, this show sucks. During the premier episode I thought I had missed the first hour cause they went uber-cheap and just had a kid do a voice-over plot intro. Way to cheap out, Spielberg. Then came the same-old, same-old; EVERYONE is supermodel handsome with a little brown make-up thrown on to look like "dirt". Oh my! How gritty and realistic!......not! G.o.T owns this like an iphone owns a cb radio.

Why are all "modern" aliens portrayed as not having any clothes? This is really starting to bother me. One of the most basic and often used forms of technology is a pocket. It doesn't matter how advanced you are, if you dont have anywhere to store and carry your technology.

@leonia97 Have you actually been reading what I wrote? Clothes have a 3rd very important function. POCKETS! Our astronauts and pilots have a ton of pockets on their uniforms. Even environmental suits have special pockets on them. Pockets are a necessity for any race that uses technology. unless they have enough hands to carry everything all the time. If you use any technology for space travel, you will at least have environmental suits with pockets. Even if you have an exoskeleton.

Though similar in some ways, you're comparing apples and oranges. Both are fruit, but aren't the same. Science fiction and fantasy aren't identical, so Game of Thrones should not be a comparable series to this. American TV has been dry for science fiction. Heck, we have to use shows like Torchwood before we come out with something original like this.

This was the WORST most HORRIBLE sci-fi I have ever seen.
Who starts an alien invasion story and not show the invasion, and then from the perspective of a little boy. Common, I already want to aliens to leash the kid, I mean it's that pathetic. i personally think that the whole plot (while it may seem redundant with the whole invading alien scheme) is very interesting, and I can definitely the series going into more in-depth with the characters. For me I'm more interested in the sci-fi storyline, not so much the acting? True the whole thing with the kid drawing may seem boring but expands character. The sound/visual effects looks something like freddiew's videos. Falling skies isn't the best cinema, i would say, but has a great story!

-So, these aliens have mastered faster than light travel, the crafts are made from materials that can withstand impacts of space debris AT the speed of light, yet we can kill them with a single head-shot. Very realistic...not.
-The alien's science and society has been stable and peaceful enough to have progressed to the point they can master interstellar travel, but all they really want to do is attach space-lobsters to the spines of tweens? OMG, you kidding me?

there not, easy to kill. i saw a episode on demand. head shot only work at close range. for the metal suited aliens = i think they some sort of manipulated humans anyway

Lets not go down that road, I feel a "who would win in a fight, Mighty Mouse or Superman" kind of direction here. I guess my real point was that they cut WAY too many corners on this show.
