  • i have nothing against him, but am i the only one who thinks that his falsetto voice is horrible? it seems force...i heard him singing with normal voice and yes, that is singing ! :)

  • I also love Jaroussky's & Marie Nicole-Lemieux's performance of this with Spinosi

  • I think Jaroussky & Spinosi are outstanding musicians. There must be a lot of ignoramuses in this audience by the sound of the applause! I think you are also envious of Jaroussky's popularity with some of the best conductors in Europe.

  • @MIMIFORSAGE I wonder who are those ignoramuses in this audience and who is also envious of Jaroussky's popularity? Oscar Wilde said:"To be popular one must be a mediocrity". You know, prostitution is the oldest profession in the world. Successful prostitutes e.g. artistic prostitutes too have always lived better than honest people and honest artists, but some for a change at least want to serve the ART, and not only make money on people's ignorance. If YOU envy prostitutes, I don't...

  • @zelline33 Monsieur, why don't you reply in English to me?You think that if it's PJ's videos everybody's French should be perfect?Get real! Also,it's freedom of expression on YT.Good question why the best orchestras in the world work not with really great artists but with overpromoted POPULAR ones! It's a special talent to become PROMOTED. I quoted Oscar Wilde that to be popular one must be a mediocrity.Garcon? This guy is supposed to be a MAN at his 35! He has a talent of a POP SINGER. Beauty?LOL

  • @serenaluce I would be careful with this type of comments! Philippe Jaroussky is a very good contratenor. There is a reason why he is popular! And if you are envious of him do it like Jaroussky...And maybe you have an other opinion than lots of people in relation to Jaroussky, maybe you have another favorite contratenor...but please do not write such strict comments. That is not productive, that is arrogant! And most people hate arrogant persons....me too! Thanks!

  • @mnummer53 What's this nonsense about somewhat jealosy again? I'm just a listener,so I can't express my OPINION who is good and who is bad?"The race is not to the swift, nor the battle to the strong, neither yet bread to the wise, nor yet riches to me of understanding, nor yet favour to men of skill; but time and chance happeneth to them all." (Ecclesiastes or The Preacher). It's from the Bible. Think it over first. It's about why the best ochestras have to work with commercial career-makers...

  • haha love the awkward bows

  • 3:09 what do we have here :) Really hight, nearly hight c :)

  • @2010wieliczka Philippe, exultate jubilate Alleluja please!

  • Anyone who says that Jaroussky is a mere pop singer has no idea of technique or the requirements of 18th Century music. Jaroussky is superb, and demonstrates magnificent control and approach.

  • @sjenner76 right? take note of how green they are when criticizing his technique. They're ridiculous opera fools that want verdi vocalists to sing Lully! They're the same people that criticize Souzay and Fischer-Dieskau and every other soloist of renown who isn't freaking Bryn Terfel (I'm a baritone if you couldn't tell lol)

  • @sjenner76 if you are a baritone yourself doesn't mean that you automatically understand better than others what CASTRATI singing is,the requirements of the 18th Century music and the closest substitute nowadays to to it COUNTERTENORS!Boys were not castrated to sing like innocent boys for the rest of their life and not like women. If you don't know it educate yourself first and then appeal to others. There were FALSETTISTS like PJ nowadays whose purpose was not to sing like MATURE MEN but PRETEND

  • @serenaluce Im not certain that former falsetists was the same class as today contrtenors. Former falsetists lost rivalry with "big" boy sopranos like Wiliam Savage. Today Alois Alois Muhlbacher cannot be compare to Jaroussky...

  • @2010wieliczka I'm not sure what you are trying to explain to me and why comparing this pretended touching image "boy forever" of a supposedly MATURE man who at his age of 34 already should sing as a MAN, not "big" or "small" boy sopranos who can't sing like mature men and at their age are supposed to sing like BOYS, as well as little girls are supposed to sing like GIRLS and not imitate MATURE women like Jackie Evancho... But this is just PURE POP! He doesn't have CT technique to be called CT!

  • @serenaluce Firstly, what wrong with Jackie ? I m sad than she is singing trite, CC pop rubbish but it is different problem- despite it, her timbre is unusual and rather natural. She has incredibly capacious lungs – bigger then average boy’s at her age and her voice is really low, contralto scale and it allow her to sing with more maturity. Her voice is natural, repertoire is vrong. In the future she will be a pop or cc star but she would be second Ewa Podleś...

  • Listen to Ewa Podles or Marylin Horne ... another world, seriousness and vocal idea! Jaroussky, please, make your POP cds but let classical music alone.

In this video, he has all the voice in the NOSE: it's unbearable!

  • @MisterPapageno Dear friend, you know very well how much I like real countertenors and prefer them to women in pants roles:-). But in this case I fully agree with you. Better Podles and Horne. PJ's singing is just unbearable. Let him entertain people like any POP SINGER does. Classics in pop interpretation is a different genre. It also has a right to exist if people like it, but please, any HONEST artist should call a spade a SPADE, and not present his POP singing as TRUE BAROQUE!!! That is all!

  • @serenaluce Hi my dear ;) finally we agree on something :D

  • @MisterPapageno Hi dear:-). I've been away, but now I'm back:-). Well, we have already agreed on some points before:-). We can argue on other points, but I still appreciate your taste and interesting opinions:-). Have a nice day!

  • @serenaluce You too ;)

  • SPINOSI ... non c'è più nulla da dire, è un GENIO :D

  • I'm Italian, and have studied roman philology.I don't agree with you at all. It also depends of wich retranscription of the partition they have been using as reference for the performance (italian have been evoluating through the time and the lyrics readapted to a more modern italian with different terminations). Regarding PJ, you should read his cursus and biography before suggesting is a pop singer. Maybe you just don't get the subtile post-modern humour of this version and that pisses you off.

  • @ZOSKYA "italian have been evoluating through the time and the lyrics readapted to a more modern italian with different terminations" what are you saying? In Italian, neither ancient or modern version has the word profondU ciecU or mondU ... What serenaluce is just saying is that Jaroussky in this case changes the vowel because he isn't able to do a proper O which is a very difficult vowel for singing because it tends to get in your throat or in your nose. By the way, I totally agree with her!

  • Wow!

  • a me sembra troppo veloce, va be' che avete tecnica, ma non esageriamo,la Musica prima di tutto!

  • Spinosi rocks !

  • <3

  • Great voice but he doesn't speak a good italian..

  • @mamophyt If you're talking about his talking at the beginning, he's speaking French.

  • @ufcountertenor

il mio commento si riferisce a quando J. canta in italiano. Ha una voce splendida e una tecnica incredibile... Ma qualsiasi trattato di canto barocco esorta i cantanti stranieri in primis ad avere un'ottima dizione italiana..

  • @mamophyt This I know. And his italian diction is quite good- almost perfect, actually.

  • @ufcountertenor

are you sure? are you italian? I'm italian and sometimes I don't understand what he is singing... why?

  • @mamophyt No, I'm not Italian, but I'm a pretty good judge at good diction. If I ever have a question with an aria that I'm working on, I usually turn to Jaroussky for clarification. It might be the fact that older Italian is used in these arias, although there's not too much of a difference between that a modern Italian. :)

  • @ufcountertenor Oh, come on!Who told you that you are a pretty good judge at good diction? You flatter yourself and it's not modest. You must understand better than native Italians what good pronounciation is. You turn to PJ for clarification in Italian or baroque? You couldn't find the worst source for it. I have Italian blood and I can really hear his awful pronounciation which never improves as he is just a POP SINGER performing baroque in falsetto. You can't hear this "Nel profondU ciecU mondU"?

  • @serenaluce Hi serena, I find you anywhere ;) this very time I agree with you! Total pop singer, not caring about music but just making money. Besides, Orlando is a CONTRALTO, not a koloratura falsettist as Jarrousky is! (and for koloratura sopranist I intend that Jaroussky is good from do4 to sol4 ;) !

  • @serenaluce Anyone who knows anything about singing knows that you have to modify your vowels at the bottom (and top) of your range. HE IS SINGING OVER AN ORCHESTRA.

  • @Wally773MTG And if you know ANYTHING about singing should know that nowadays promotion and sound technicians can make a "great singer"of ANYBODY who only has a special talent to PLEASE the right people who will record him or her. Before singers had to SING! Nowadays some even can only lipsing. All this PJ's merit is that he only can produce isolated from any image SWEET SOUNDS and play with his soft fingers to disguise his pure POP to entertain the crowd, and sound technicians can do the rest!..

  • i love this guy!

  • TEARS IN MY EYES!!!!!

  • TEARS IN MY EYES!!!!!

  • Purissimo piacere, sopraffino, ineguagliabile.

  • THATS WONDERFUL

  • Thank you so much for posting such a beautiful music, I really appreciate it. He's an angel from above. I just can't help loving his beautiful voice that soars marvellously!

This video just made my day! I love you.... Je t'aime Jaroussky

  • He's so beautiful, his voice is stunning. I love him!
