my cr-v is a great off road vehicle, and no it can and will do just about anything you ask it. you have to know it's vulnerabilities like no armor underneath it and to use good traction tires. Do those twp things and they are comparable to Jeep tj's.

its more of a mazda mpv type of car but its a very nice car for some snow, rain type of weather or some offroad nothing big, just like the ford escape, but ford escape gives too many problems, for off road in a cuv i would take jeep liberty and for city honda or the rav, for crazy shit a homvee anytime :)

hmmm...I dont recommend you to do that again.....It is good for very soft off roading. Actually the 4WD system in the new CRV is know to be the less effective of all Small/Midsize crossover vehicles. The first generation of CRV was more Off Road Capable than this one. The last generation is too urban driving oriented.

gotta admit, these cars don't have any real off-road ability. yes they are very well built, nice confortable family car. but the truth is what you just did here was pushing it to the limits. in the car's handbook it does say DO NOT ATTEMPT TO DRIVE THRU WATER, IT WILL DAMAGE ENGINE. because it isnt a prado or a pajero. just a AWD city car.

@outdoorsman310 Then why would honda advertise the CRV (gen 1) as a truck with off road credintials? ad truth be told. That CRV is damn good off road. Nearly a FOOT of ground clearence! And the intake was higher so you could ford through water. Honda knew what they were doing but didn't know how to continue it. Or just gave up seeing as how if it became a true off roader it would give hell to the Samuri/Tracker and later on the grand vitara

Whenever you are doing this just be careful, and go slow. Once a rock sprang from beneath my Safari tire and ruptured the diesel tank while doing this.

It's a very nice car. They should have made it a bit higher though I reckon. It's only a bit higher than a sedan.
