  • OMG PULSE DIALING!! I wonder what country your in haha

  • @CWM800 Russia, Saint-Petersburg. But, for real, there is almost no Dial-Up remains as ISP and telephony generally in process to be replaced from analog to G-PON with VoIP.

  • @Vednier PREVET! ( hello in Russian -- Thats really all I know hehe ) but wow dialup still exists here in America for the ones that live out in the countryside that, that's their only option or get VERY VERY expensive Sat Dish Internet :(

  • @CWM800 Not really better in Russia - there is places there GPRS is really only alternative to Dial Up. But things is slowly changing somehow

  • Ahhh the days of being a kid on my Dad's old win 98 comp.....

  • In Soviet Russia, letter is faster than e-mail.

  • I think the pulse dialling took this to a whole new level for me :)

  • @silverbakuk

My one neigborhood still has a qusi-pulse dialing phone system.

You can dial 1-800 numbers on tone, but regular numbers are still on pulse.

  • ohhh the wonders of the ciberspace....

  • I wouldn't get away with staying up late with that sound from the Modem going off

  • It's shooting

  • actually the two gong sounds in the protocol is the US Robotics X2 style 53k handshake. This pre-dates v.90 The competitor was Rockwell KFlex both come from 1996. It wasn't until very late 1998 that v.90 came about and those previous modems that were flash upgradeable had Modem Firmware upgrades to support v.90.

  • lol dial up

  • Porn..? :)

  • lol try watching 1080p on that thing!

  • Dial-up is okay, as long as you're not watching YouTube videos or heavy graphical content!

  • id just use my smartphone :P

  • I rememver when 56k was fast, I had a 28k i think and thought my friends 56k was nice.

  • O.. M.. G.. My first days on the net were on pulse dialing lines :P

  • @FumTech no thats only for video. Usually im use FF

  • @FumTech its Y U NO ...

  • Pulse dialing! That's wicked. That shit doesn't even work anymore here in France!

  • Wow - you are using pulse dialing too!

  • I hate 56k modem because it's so slow

  • @MrZiulmota1 Slow but damn, it never gets interrupted.

  • @NewDie9 uhm... yes it does?

  • @NewDie9 its funny how people diss this tech, a hakr fiend of mine launched a cruise missile through one of these back in '93 took all of 36 minutes and they never found them, now using broadband you'd be found in less than 36 seconds just logging on lol

  • @DARTHMOBIUS Suuuuuure he did.

  • @Eeldium Well, I was always skeptical, and still am, but I recall a breif incident back in the day, where one of those missiles launched unexpectedly and was destined for Turkey, self destructed before doing any damage or the techs getting access back to it, just think he coat tailed on that, like the claim about how he hijacked the NHS patient Dbase in the uk, the only thing I seen was his "Proof" of access to the inland revenue Dbase, thought it was a joke till he got 2 years for that lol

  • What isp still has dial up? No wonder it's slow it's v90 protocol (thats what the dong dong sound was I think)

  • @electronicballast this is MNS - large ISP in our city

  • @Aptmactep86 Never heard of them, mind I do live in the uk.

  • How old is the modem?

  • @RoxyXPPC about 11 years

  • @Aptmactep86 Cool. But found Windows 7 standard drivers?

  • @RoxyXPPC It seems yes, but I precisely don't remember

  • @RoxyXPPC That serial stuff it's so standard that runs on everything.

  • @cossasomi Just as a PS / 2 mouse and keyboard, so. ;)

  • use ATDT !

  • ZOMG pulse dialing :)

  • @sonic3243 I was like wow e uses that still

  • Ha I used dial up from 1995-2007 long time i think

  • Careful! He'll DDoS you with his mighty 56k modem!

  • @tannalv lol 100mbit upload and 54kbit down on dial up HE PWNS U

  • I've never heard a pulse-dialing modem before. I grew up with touch-tone systems, but I have a rotary dial phone somewhere in the cellar

  • my snail is faster... .____.

  • lol W7 is says "hey hey modem the 90's called they said they want tere modem back"

  • the gov shut down the i-net! :-)

and you still sending bytes over normal phone lines!

  • In our cabin in the mountains of California no one has ever heard of you have the choice of dial up or driving 25 miles to the "town" to use the wireless at the Starbucks (which I just can't get myself to do) or the library (which is open VERY short hours) and get "broadband"....... which means approximately 600K IF YOU'RE LUCKY........

But at least at our cabin we get a real 52K as opposed to other folks in our little area that get 22K on their dialup.

  • Awww good old connection handshake screams..

  • Love this sounds!) Ностальгия в Риме, ностальгия...

  • 56k still has uses dont fool yourself

  • this is fucking old skool just like VCR VHS LD VCD rubik kubes CRT monitor/television n many more old skool items haha n i blif very soon DVD will phased out 2 give way 2 blu ray disc one day lolz

  • Hella scary sound!

  • No, we mostly using high-speed internet connections (adsl, ethernet, wi-fi, wimax, 3g). This video just for fun, and nostalgia :)

  • @Aptmactep86 He means if you're land-lines still use pulse-dialing instead of tone-dialing.

  • @Aptmactep86 Nothing better than being reduced to 20 mbps just for nostalgia, right? Heh.

In Soviet Russia, modem boots you!

  • Is russia still using puls-dial?
