  • 2:28...as good as a bmw? lol you must be kidding...only 1 thing to say. shut the hell up sir.

  • haha all the essex guy cares about is the looks.

  • MK2 the best

  • gearknob is from the mk5 on that particular pre production one

  • How do ppl think the Civic si looks better than this??

  • 2dr > 4d. All day long especially with the MKV and MKVI.

  • This will be my next car :) Not in red, but in black or white...cuz they make those red GTI lines at the front stand out more :)

  • I`d go for the new Megane 250, much better track car and far better looking.

  • i really LOVE how WHATCAR got readers to comment on the car. I dont see anyone else doing it.

    GREAT JOB GUYS!

what everyone says is relates to the real buyers. i have one and what everyone say is spot on.

    VERY good car. 5/5.

  • Go for Opel Astra OPC much much better

  • How come i see some GTI's with xenon headlamps?...and this one is without any?

  • @Caleb0014 Caleb, the reason you see MKV GTIs with Xenon headlamps is due to the fact that they came from the factory with them as a standard option. With the new generation of MK6, they made it optional equipment and anyone who chose to go without it got stuck with the gay ass halogens. Just another reason I love my MKV. The headlights are so damn good for visibility at night. Never have I had the same kind of visibility when driving at night like I do in my MKV. Perfection.

  • i think the worst GTI ever was the IV....

  • mk 2 all the way.

  • I hope to have an MK6 one day, I currently own a Mk4 GTi vr6 and absolutely love it!

  • its trying to be a audi,poor.205gti still the best drive 25 years on

  • so bored of "vtec" i need some oomph, ordered one 4dr, in tornado red, w/dsg.

  • I still think the MK4 body shape was nicer looking (more Euro) than the MK5 or 6. Especially models like the '337' and '20th A.E.' GTI's with the slight factory body kits. The MK4 R32 was also nicer looking than the MK5 or 6. My opinion.

  • Just commenting on the exterior, I like the look of the mk6 overall, but disagree that it looks better than the mk5, but maybe it will grow on me. I think the front and particularly the rear is better on the mk5. The rear lights look a bit boring on the new model and I think the Twin exhaust together on the mk5 looks more agressive. And to solve the problem of the bumper not being colour coded...get one in black.

  • I agree.

  • Volkswagen always seems to amaze me. Great quality and I love the interiour. But I go for the new Megane RS not the quality of the GTI but I think more fun to drive.

  • i must have this gti lol.

  • My next car :> 8->

  • no it isnt. you dont see many gti's in red. too many white and dark colors.

  • i own a golf MKV gti i like my model more Interieur wise hmz but i like the new Front of the golf the rear is just not for me tough i still prefer the 5 altough they both have their style :-) also i don't like the rear exhaust they should of made it more like the R32 instead of putting them so far appart

  • vou comprar um e mandar trazer aqui para mim no Brasil ....um novo sonho de consumo ......isso não é um carro é uma maquina show parabéns Volks pela sua inovação ......

  • the 2009 VW golf GTI and the 2009 VW Scirocco are both amazing cars

  • why are people comparing gti and r32 then saying with an ecu flash it will outrun it, its modified so no longer a standard gti modify an r32 .........

  • LOVE IT NICEST IN WHITE

  • The back looks shitty. The proportion of glass v the bootlid just looks wrong. A little bit grannyish in my view. The front is the opposite. It looks nice and aggressive

  • Translate the video pleaseeeeeeeee

  • get your dumbass honda remarks off here

  • Lol du Spinner hast ma gar keine ahnung vom echten 1ser Golf

  • mate, its is actually the other way around!

Jap cars are well known for stealing European car designs. Just look around : Toyotas, Hondas, Mazdas, they all copy Europeans cars in a way to make they way through. For me , no matter how hard they try it , Asian cars look all the same

  • No actually its the other way around. Dumb kid honestly if it weren't for the japanese probally anyone wouldnt be driving a car. Wow

  • I think you are giving too much to the Jaspion and Pokemon world. In real life, Theres a automobile history of precision engeneering behind BMWs, VWs, Porsches, even Skodas, that set the standarts for car manufacturing. Have you ever heard of DRIVING DYNAMICS? Well it is something that Pokemon and Jaspions need to work on.

  • Any One know where we can get a video of a drag race between golf v and golf vi ... Still think my DSG will give it a go !!!!

  • I have a MkV R32 and I think the Mk VI GTi looks beautiful. The issue is 'lack' of horse power. The market has moved on & circa 200 hp isnt enough to compete. My R32 with 250ish is no longer leagues ahead (although it sounds years ahead) and although the new 'R' will have the Audi S3 engine the GTi needs to be somewhere in between the R and where it currently is.

If I was a tuning company I would be rubbing my hands together as the new GTi will chip to around 250 for as little as £500/ $700.

  • The only advantage the r32 has is the handling b/c of AWD. There is barely any difference between the 0-60 times and 1/4 mile times between the 2 cars. For 400$-500$ a stock base price GTI with a ecu flash will produce more hp and outrun a stock r32 for 8k$ less. HP is not a issue.

  • I have a MK3 GTI VR6, had a MK4 R32, and I actually like the MK6. The rear looks like it comes from Audi's SUV platform. It might take people a little while to get used to it, but I think it works nicely. The body lines flow smothly, its like a MK5 smothed out more.

  • I have to disagree with you on the Mk6 having smoother lines than the Mk5. I feel they went more angular with the new one. I see it in the headlights, front grille, tail lights and fog lights. More straight lines I think and I believe that this is what the engineers were trying to achieve - a sort of Mk4/Mk5 style mix with more emphasis on the Mk5. I like the Mk6 all in all, and I bet it looks even better in person. Props on the R32, I had a Mk4 GTI VR6 so I've tasted VR power!

  • i have to agree with rugbynimbus, i have a mk5 gti and that is the best one yet, don't like the back of the mk6, spoilt it.

  • What an unfortunate redesign. It's like they miss the point of the GTI altogether. Thank God I got my MkV before this abortion slid out.

  • You're just jealous. Piss off.

  • Yes, clearly you're more in touch with my feelings than I am. That's good, because it saves me the trouble of actually expressing how little I give a shit because you already know it. Thanks.

  • Great, now piss off.

  • funny - most mentioned an "improved rear". The one thing I DON'T like about the MKVI is the rear. I have a MKV and think it is the only thing better than the upcoming model. Two reasons - taillights look like shite on the MKVI. They are too large horizontally and mimic the Tiguan too closely. Finally (and most importantly)...the exhaust. Golf = hidden turndowns. GTI = dual LL exit. R's = center exit. The dual L/R exit is too American looking for my tastes aka cheesy - still want though

  • I had one in white^^

    Nice car^^

  • And just when you think the current GTI look great...

  • I really like this car, hope I can buy one when I have the money.. Thats what I really like about the GTI, it is an very realistic dream, isnt it?;)

  • I'm saving right now!

  • Nope, sadly, not. The GTI is my dreamcar but it's relally expensive that's why it didn't sell very well and why they are so rare. I see way more BMW X6s on the streets than GTIs. Have you noticed that?

  • @karlamann I am a new driver and i have a Ford fiesta, very old when i say old i mean VERY old, im sick of driving around in a tin can on wheels i want a nicer car :)

  • who gives a rats anus what these clowns think the car looks like! i have eyes to poofs! whats it like to drive?

  • do the MkVI GTI's have 4motion standard? i heard they did but wasn't sure if that still held true!

  • i WISH i HAVE THIS CAR...

  • the front bumper looks really nice. but i hope they have a aftermarket rear lights.

  • dash colors are white, just like the scirocco´s, but the center console will have the blue/red colors afaik

  • I really hope they dropped the ugly blue/red dash lights for 2010. Any word on what the dash colors are ????

  • Shame that steering wheel isnt being kept..

  • wheels look like shit, but overall its a superb car...

  • Wolfswagen

  • Looks like another winner

  • Great job fixing the backside...that was the ugliest part of the last car. I'm still not crazy about the wheels.

  • i agree the mk 5 lukd like an egg. now it luks slick. luv it saving up 4 this car

  • I would never change my r32 mk5 for new golf and i think mk5 r32 is meybe last model of r32 becouse there is global crise and auto industry is going down but sure this vw looks nice i driven gti edition 30 that thing for that money taste nice people....

  • ok for a wv.

  • Currently I drive a MKV Rabbit, and when the lease ends in about a year, I'm highly considering the MKVI GTI, the Scirocco if it comes to the US, a BMW 1 series, or something else... As of now, it seems like I'll be sticking with VW again :)

  • Looks good!

  • i cant under stand

the previeos model had a 300 km/h dash board

and this new one is 280 km/h ?

  • well the previous model had the same speedo from the R32.. now they will probably have different speedometers (GTI & R32)

  • much love to the new mkvi GTI, but i love my mkv 2.0T wolfie. VW FTMFW!

  • love this car
