@bexerker I realize this comment is from months ago, and now everyone can use symbicort without any problems or penalties. However, at the time of the World Championships, only those who had permission via WADA/FIS could use it, hence the problems in this whole mess.

There are numerous of experts who have confirmed that asthma medication is NOT enhancing. Just the THOUGHT that having asthma would in ANY WAY be an advantage is so ridiculous that it doesn't really deserve an answer. Szuszek is obviously just sore that her dear Kowalczyk didn't win. Too bad she/he(?) cabn't be generous enough to be pleased for somebody else

@sario1500 well.. I believe a medical study more than a random internet user with their own 'opinion'. Medical study proved that time to exhaustion is increased, so yes if you have the same drug to other competitors without asthma their performance would increase according to the study.

It is also very visible on Bjorgen's wiki page. You are only quoting sports political bodies, not doctors...

I feel sorry for her asthma, but it doesn't change the fact that in many people's eyes she has unfair advantage.

Having Asthma will NEVER be an advantage, and using the medicine will only improve your performance to what it would have been without the illness. The facts are simple and confirmed by medical studies for salbutamol (the drug she is taking) - educate yourself and read the study linked from Marit's wikipedia page

Taking it especially by athletes where oxygen and breathing plays a major role (cross-country, swimming, cycling) is definitely giving an unfair advantage. Yes, it prevents an asthma attack, but also increases oxygen intake.

Unlike many of those caught for doping, Marit Bjorgen always been open about his asthma problem and the medicines she takes. She has followed the international rules to the letter and the doctor's instructions.

It's pathetic, unreasonable, unjust and incompatible, not least that some are using this against her. That says a lot about what kind of people they are.
