Norway people sorry but you're pathetic. Look back 2 years ago. Bjoergen won nothing But hey suddenly she took her miracle medication and she's undefeatable. Is it really a co incident? Now your entire realy team take this drugs. It's cheating I know that true hurts but it is true after all
@Szef01 Who's pathetic!? People who can't stand losing that's who. Now Terese Johaug won today. How are you going to try to taint her?! I'm sure you'll find some way. Grow up for God's sake and stop acting like children who lose in games!
@Szef01 Marit is the only one taking the asthma medecin lol... where did you get the info that the whole team using it? and why wouldnt every1 else use the medecin if its so fucking good as you are describing it? your argument dosent make any sence at all lol...
@bexerker I realize this comment is from months ago, and now everyone can use symbicort without any problems or penalties. However, at the time of the World Championships, only those who had permission via WADA/FIS could use it, hence the problems in this whole mess.
I wonder if szuszek2 is a doctor since he know so much, I wouln't trust Wikipedia that much btw there have been false info there before (not saying that it is) but one source isnt enough I think... just sayin :p
@bexerker I think szuszek has a fanatical streak. Everybody knows Wikipedia is NOT a reliable link since ANYBODY can post ANYTHING there. There are numerous of experts who have confirmed that asthma medication is NOT enhancing. Just the THOUGHT that having asthma would in ANY WAY be an advantage is so ridiculous that it doesn't really deserve an answer. Szuszek is obviously just sore that her dear Kowalczyk didn't win. Too bad she/he(?) cabn't be generous enough to be pleased for somebody else
@sario1500 well.. I believe a medical study more than a random internet user with their own 'opinion'. Medical study proved that time to exhaustion is increased, so yes if you have the same drug to other competitors without asthma their performance would increase according to the study.
@szuszek2 owalczyk always finds something to complain about when she doesn't win anyway. What happened to just being HAPPY on somebody elses behalf without whining!?
@VmHolmenkollen2011 except the rest of the fans following cross country know the truth... whether it's Petra Majdic or Kowalczyk speaking out publicly, or others quietly nodding their heads... everyone knows and these Bjorgen medals are tainted.... it's not good for the sport to cheat.
You have absolutely nothing to back up your story with. And again everybody know that Petra Majdic or Kowalczyk not the most intelligent or knowledgeable people in the cross-counryt environment (not VM Holmenkollen 2011 words, but pointing to: Team-Norway, Team-Sweeen, last but not least FIS)
FIS official statement by Sarah Lewis, secretary general of FIS: 27.02.2011
- Marit's medication is approved at the highest level of medical FIS. It is also approved by Wada, the international anti-doping agency. They can after the FIS has approved medical use, enter protest. They have not done so, "says Lewis.
@VmHolmenkollen2011 you are pretty lame calling people in the competition 'not the most intelligent'...do you know them?
With that said - read the asthma section on Beorgen wikipedia page . Here is a choice quote for you from the medical study:
"Time to exhaustion has been consistently increased after salbutamol by as much as 30%. Only one out of 8 study participants did not show increased time to exhaustion compared to placebo."
@szuszek2 Again you are putting yourself in bad position when it comes to understanding the context, as you clearly read between the lines rather the complete text. I will once more post this: (not VM Holmenkollen 2011 words, but pointing to: Team-Norway, Team-Sweeen, last but not least FIS) + the official statement from FIS. (unlike you with NO reference what so ever just playing with words you surely cant handle & bend the story in to your liking, that could be defined as "pretty lame"
@VmHolmenkollen2011 I am quoting official study linked from Bjorgen's wikipedia entry. It is a REAL Medical study reference from a journal of applied physiology linked directly from her wiki page. It is also very visible on Bjorgen's wiki page. You are only quoting sports political bodies, not doctors...
I feel sorry for her asthma, but it doesn't change the fact that in many people's eyes she has unfair advantage.
@szuszek2 Oki, clearly we have different view on this subject, but its good :), or the world would be very boring place to live, when it come so opinions. So try enjoy this great championship. Their will always be differences.
FIS official statement by Sarah Lewis, secretary general of FIS: 27.02.2011
- Marit Bjørgen has been through a long and thorough process that there is no reason to start speculation around, "said Sarah Lewis as she displays the IPAD FIS agreement of medications used to treat chronic diseases.
But behind the approval of the use of medication for these rules, there are many and thorough investigation, "said Lewis.
@VmHolmenkollen2011 I trust a real medical studies more and medical studies pretty clearly show the effects. Again - as even the Wikipedia page shows.... Bjorgen's career will forever be tainted by performance enhancing drugs...
@szuszek2 what "REAL" study? I am very interested to know, something you have just come up with now, or is it just pure propaganda and even speculations from you side?
You may give up on this subject, because of no reliable study or proof what so ever.
@VmHolmenkollen2011 dude... if you are unable to go to Bjorgen's Wikipedia page and find the Asthma section and the quote WITH THE LINK to real medical study than I have not much else to day... I am happy however that the fact of her taking performance increasing drugs is mentioned in her Wikipedia entry and most articles about her. Most fair and balanced readers will always know...
@szuszek2 It's pretty sad to see that you read the words, but dont understand what they tell you. Having Asthma will NEVER be an advantage, and using the medicine will only improve your performance to what it would have been without the illness. It's not something anyone who doesnt suffer from asthma would gain any benefit from, which has been stated by several FIS officials and doctors. Why do you think it is that every official body has given her permission to use the medicine? You Sir: FAIL!
@myskijn are you also the one who just removed the asthma study from Bjorgen Wikipedia page? I think you are the one that is choosing NOT to read the words of a medical study: "Time to exhaustion has been consistently increased after [[salbutamol]] by as much as 30%" this is for anybody taking it... You sir are an ignorant...
Should people who have diabetes NOT use insulin? And should not someone with poor vision have to wear glasses?
With these drugs/medicine, you will never as good as if you had been healthy. I feel that it is purely about lack of knowledge when you claim something like this
Have a nice day & stay tuned for VM Holmenkollen 2011 :)
@szuszek2 Your opinions are so stupid and ignorant that I just can't help but comment on them. Do you really think that Bjørgen would be allowed to take the medicine if they were not approved by whole bunch of specialists!?! I have asthma my whole life and WITH the medicine I can (almost) function like normal people. Having asthma will NEVER be an advantage you MORON!
@bambus213 Kowalczyk always finds something to complain about when she doesn't win anyway. What happened to just being HAPPY on somebody elses behalf without whining!?
@bambus213 When people don't have real arguments they resort to name calling....
The facts are simple and confirmed by medical studies for salbutamol (the drug she is taking) - educate yourself and read the study linked from Marit's wikipedia page
Taking it especially by athletes where oxygen and breathing plays a major role (cross-country, swimming, cycling) is definitely giving an unfair advantage. Yes, it prevents an asthma attack, but also increases oxygen intake.

@bambus213 WHy is it that 3 girls in top 4 in the 10KM have 'asthma'??? All of the sudden everyone has asthma...
Like I said earlier... there will ALWAYS be * next to their medals. Luckily most websites and publications mention this fact (see Wikipedia article on Bjoergen)
Unlike many of those caught for doping, Marit Bjorgen always been open about his asthma problem and the medicines she takes. She has followed the international rules to the letter and the doctor's instructions.
It's pathetic, unreasonable, unjust and incompatible, not least that some are using this against her. That says a lot about what kind of people they are.
Those who have (or have had asthma) know that the burden of disease is far greater than the benefit of medicine use in the training and competitive events.
But envy is probably stronger than the wisdom of many of these people. (Justyna Kowalczyk & Petra Majdic)
Justina, thanks for reavealing cross-ski and Norwegian tactic 'in die Küche'.
Indeed from 34:44.1 on I can see Johaug letting Bjoergen overtake her, while the next moment she starts to work full force again not not let you go for a fair finish!
Official reports after the VM Woman's 15 Km Pursuit Holmenkollen 2011: PART 1
- Therese Johaug tried to block me from following Marit Bjørgen, said Justyna Kowalczyk of Poland after the 15-kilometer in Holmenkollen Saturday.
- I would try to follow Marit in the last downhill, but Therese tried to prevent it. Not just one or two, but three or four times. But it is normal - it's tactics, "said Kowalczyk.
