Got this email from a Canadian friend, a guy, who recently watched the doc. I was surprised by his closing comment:
"The highlight for me was the graduation ceremony, 40 years later, and the bravery of the sixteen year old girl. That really moved me - what courage.
Perhaps we all grow up with the prejudices of our family and culture. How to grow out of it... that's what your documentary pointed out to me. I had a rabid anti-Quebec mentality as a teen, had to address it and grow out of it."
Just watched your doc. My eyes are still teary, it touched me so. Such good insights, good interviews. I liked the variety of them, including the rapper, your Girl Scout troop leader. Excellent - and her feisty attitude, wow! It showed me how one must take a stand, no matter what the culture, the neighbors. The mom's counsel to her son, what's to stop them from ... lynching you. Sobering, the danger facing them. I admire that kind of wisdom. Your personal discoveries really affected me. P.J.
