when i was in hospital for 5 weeks after trach and g-tube surgery. I had to stay longer just to wait for home nursing to be setup through medicaid, nurses got vent training, get backup generater at home, etc. If it wasnt for my caring family there, I would of for sure got bed sores, policy to roll every 2 hours, not enough for me, cannot move enough to reposition myself or anything by myself. I always had a family member there to care for me when nurses were too busy. it be torture w/o them.
wow crazy, K\I know exactly where you are coming from, though I live in NY where there seems to be a different attitude about home care vs nursing homes/instutions. I believe they get the concept more on the cost difference between the 2. my home care costs less, less money is usually better to a gov't. it only makes sense. Currently live home w/ my dad w/ 24/7 nursing. On a vent 24/7 and have a g-tube. I have been truly blessed by god.
