Unfortunately there are a lot of obnoxious people who post nasty comments on some of the You Tube clips. I see young musicians for example, who are bravely putting some of their performances out there in public. I'm a music teacher and sometimes their clips are pretty bad, but they're bravely posting them and they're trying, I really want to applaud. And I'd bite my tongue clear off rather than discourage them. There's enough negativity in the world. My own clips are approval pending.

If someone puts up their own fully original videos then they can hide from the criticisms if they want but if it is on somebodies copyrighted material, eg music video, tv show, then I don't think thy should be allowed. I mean it is not their work they have no right to deny people a comment.

And I have to agree with YOU here ..... if it's copyrighted material or a TV clip or any material which has already seen the public "light of day" so to speak, then it's fair game for comment. I believe that when I signed up, I had a choice of weather to allow comments or not and if so, did I want to screen them. So I believe it must be with every other account. Maybe that person is just screening their video comments. Some people don't even allow comments on there videos. Now that's even more frustrating.

At the least - the VERY LEAST - a video page in which comments require approval should have a notice to that effect in BIG RED LETTERS above the comment section. Otherwise, anyone reading the comments may think that they represent the viewpoints of a normal cross-section of the viewership, which clearly may be far from the truth.

what really annoys me about the pending approval is when someone has posted a video about their views, normally to do with feminism or religion and they cherry pick the comments and weed out the bad ones . they might get 100 dislike comments , discard them, get 5 comments saying their vid is good, which they allow so it looks like they r popular and talking a lot of sense, so irritatin.
