I love the enthusiasm for this camera,-- for clinical reviews, try camera labs. Having seen this review a month ago and forgotten about it, something must've stuck because I just bought one! Steep learning curve, but as the camera store guy said, "No matter what else comes out, this camera will still rock mad images 10 years from now!"
i would be happy to have a 5D markll but you look like a kid in toy'sRus you even kissed the camera!! LOL!!! I mean, I only have a 1100D T3 so is really nothing compared to that....
You can re- focus with the AF-ON back on the camera in LV mode when shooting a video or filming yourself like in this tutorial. Point the camera at yourself or an object you want to shoot and just press AF-ON in until the focusing stops and you hear a "beep", there you go- you have now re-focused your image. You have to set your camera to AI SERVO to make it work though. Note that it doesn' t work perfect all the time, especially in low light situations.
@bkfilipi Most of this video was done with a GL2. The picture quality of the 5D is much fancier, I use it on the location stuff and am holding it myself. It is actually very cool to use.
should i be going for a full framed sensor camera like the 5d mark2......main area of interest is street photogarphy....n landscape.....BUT BUT.....i am not very good....own a d3000 nikon....i mean still a beginner.....have understood manual mode iso, shutter n aperture....but still love p mode n non flash mode....was going to buy the 550d.....BUT what do i donow....n will the lenses of the 550d fit on the mark 2...? i dont think so....what do i do?
I can totally appreciate your love and affection for this camera. I got one last September and it is absolutely phenomenal. The camera I had prior to this one was the Rebel Xti (400D) and the ISO difference is incredible. I found photos with ISO 400+ to be noticeably grainy. With the 5D mk II the ISO 1000 photos I have taken have surprisingly tolerable graininess. I don't have your F/2.8 but the EF 70-200mm F/4.0 IS USM.
I was just curious why your video is only up to 480p resolution when you are using the 5d Mark II, doesn't it have full HD capability? Really enjoyed your video, wish I could have watched it in a higher resolution, it was still good though. Thanks
Hey Rob..thanks for the quick reply..i deleted my post because if i just read further below..you answered my question already and i didnt want to be a repeater...lol.. I was leaning for the 5d mark II but you really enforce my decision..im going for the 5d....having video is a bonus for me too..i care more for image quality.. You are doing a great job man..keep up all the hard work bro..keep the vidz coming!!
I am a beginner to photography using the nikon d3000. Your videos are so great and have helped me tremendously using the manual settings and now after a few weeks my pics are actually starting to look okay! Can't wait to see your next video!
I only have a 500D and it does on 30fps at 1280x720 or 20 fps full hd format, but I would really love to upgrade to the 5D or maybe 7d because of the video part is better also.
So Sammy I look forward to your 7d review also ;-)
Everything I have read about it sounds very cool. The video features such as the frame rate selection and quality parameters are crazy.
I have not used it at all but have heard nothing but good things from its users. I personally am a fan of the full frame sensor of the 5D but the 7D is more than enough camera for most all situations.
Sorry Sammy, I once loved your videos, but since you've done this sponsorship thing, I really can't take you seriously, you don't seem to believe what your saying, it seems your just selling stuff for your sponsor. Sorry, but that's the way I feel, this video seems to demonstrate it. I love your origional videos and have them on my drive, but I don't think I will be watching any more. You just don't seem genuine anymore.
I also do in all honesty love this camera, I would leave my wife and marry it if it would have me. I have only shot with the original 5D for the past 3 and a half years and felt like I was cheating on it with this 5D mark II.
Don't hate on a camera that you don't even know =o)
Only recently discovered your videos, and I think you are doing a great job with them. Especially your tutorial videos. I tell people who ask me about the fundamentals of photography to watch your videos because you explain things in a clear easy way with your own unique style thats funny and fresh. I think you could really do well doing face to face workshops. Keep up the good work. And great review. Looking forward to seeing your Nikon reviews.
Well at least we know it's AWSOME!!! They have to give you a free one for all that. Because if they don't your next review will be a Nikon and they don't want that.
I LIKE THIS CAMERA SO MUCH....

too bad that youtube compresses the video too much. I made a video with my Canon T1i and uploaded to youtube, but it really losses its quality.

I've always loved Canon!!
Right now I'm a student and was only able to buy a digital rebel xti (which I love)
But like you said, I have only heard good things about the 5d as well.
When I'm able to get my hands on one (and some money to buy one), that's what I'm going for!! Great video!

There is no autofocus but that's awsome? how long did it take to come up with that one for them. Sorry Fontana but it's no longer honest.

The route of it is that you now seem to be doing more about selling products for Sammy's than doing honest, passionate videos about photography.
I do wish you could find some happy medium because I do love your origional videos.

what the hell would a 25600 ISO possibly be necessary for? That just boggles my mind.

My guess would be when using only your back LCD screen to light a pitch black room and get the shot ; )
