Congratulations an awd audi beat a rwd bmw. If they used an xi bmw(awd) it wouldve done just as well. But either way all wheel drive sucks. Rwd bmw's ftw! rear wheels should be used for power and front wheels should be used for steering, period. Bmw handles better, looks better, and its faster in a straight line than it's audi counter part always.
@joshgrami If the engine is transversal implemented then it have an haldex system. If its a longitudial engine its a torsen differential. If you buy a newer Passat you should have the Hald-differential - the older have till 3BG the Torsen...
50% of success in this depends on tyres. Fit best AWD with crappy summer rubber and you won't go further than crappiest FWD on set of proper snow tyres.

Well, the reason why they took those "shit loads" is they're comparing cars, which are bought as offroaders. Adding Land/Range Rovers, true Jeeps and other professional stuff is no value added.. The X5-persons claim their car is good offroad; well, since this video we can all safely say "out of road cars, there is nothing wrong with the offroad capabilities of a AWD-estate". Volvo XC and Audi Allroad Quattro are just plainly good cars..
It wouldn't really matter if you ask me - a family considering an Audi A6 wouldn't consider a pickup at the same time... I don't think this test was done to show the best offroader around...
next time when they do this,tell them to include a JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE, not the shit loads like lexus, x5 or nissan LOL and yeah the audi did GREAT !!!
As big of an audi fan as I am, I agree with putting a Grand Cherokee up there. 4.7 liter with Quadra-Drive in 4 low. With the 3 differentials locked, and the option of Wrangler SR-A's, it would have made it up that even without the hill groomed.
Did I mention that they got a 5-cylinder turbo diesel (sprinter motor, if I recall correct) in the 99-04 generation of Grand Cherokees?

nope. They put a diesel 5 cylinder in the euro market 99-04 Grand Cherokee. The 5.9 is the 6-cylinder out of the ram. The 5-cylinder is a Sprinter motor

no way...Subaru has AWD steering by electronic system od differs. Audi has Quattro (by Torsen Clutch) and Nm making the best traction using computers and before (since `80 to `90) by hydro... But Jeep or LR or H1 should be better...but Qouattro is cheaper and more comfortable.

Actually, the Volvo Cross Country (XC70) uses the Haldex. Not surprised that the All Road won. The Audi Torsen diffs ROCK. I have driven an X5 in the snow and in my opinion it was somewhat scarey. I would love to have seen them add in a Touareg or a Cayenne to the mix. AND if you do the research there is an Audi that uses or in the past used the Haldex diff... the TT

A3/TT came with Haldex as Volvo/Skoda/VW (with the exception of the previous version Passat 4Motion which also had Torsen).

Because Haldex is a cheap solution which does not work as well as Torsen, or a lot of other various systems. Therefor I don't think you could do it with your S3. That's why I answered this to your comment. ;-)
