  • Baseball=The greatest game ever!

  • @MsLibertyforall100 that was a joke right?

  • Comment removed

  • Babe was the man.

  • We are the Champions?

  • barry bonds fuel : Steroids

Babe's fuel : Hot dogs and beer

    there you have the difference.

  • There is a excellent article by Bill Jenkins about Babe Ruth. The Tittle is Babe Ruth And The Issue Of Race. I think you could find this article on Google. After reading this article, you will find that Babe Ruth was also a great human being.

  • Has anyone ever seen how the game has changed statistics wise? Its crazy. I love baseball and baseball statistics. E.g. in 1934 Lou Gehrig hit .363/.465/.706/1.172 with 40 doubles, 49 home runs and 165 rbi, which is more than an rbi per game played. and he only struck out 31 times in 154 games. To compare, placido polanco, a great contact hitter, struck out 44 times in 122 games this past year. I know this is really random but I was just thinking how crazy it was and baseball fans can appreciate

  • dang he was old

  • I wonder how many homesr Ruth would have hit with the live ball of today instead

of the dead ball of that time.

  • the Barry vs Babe Ruth is silly....

not only was BAbe the greatest hitter of all time, He was one of the best pitchers in the league. he had back to back 20+ win seasons in 1917 and 1918....he won game 1 onf the 1918 World Series with a shutout, then went on to close it out with another win in game 4 of the series.

Barry could never do what babe did. The stats show that, plain and simply.

  • Ruth was a powerful hitter that ruined the beautiful, subtle, athletic, and skill-centered aspects of baseball. Not to say that the ONLY thing he did was hit home runs, but that is what he's famous for.

It sickens me that people won't ever consider Ichiro as being the best ever just because he doesn't stand at the plate like an ape and hit homers.

  • the babe killed that ball. nice

  • He killed that.

  • "Sixty! Count 'em, sixty! Let's see some other sonofabitch match that!"

-Babe Ruth after hitting his 60th homer in 1927. That was a hell of a year for the Babe, but his best overall season came in 1921, his second with the Yankees.

  • @MmmmmPopTarts

One of my favorite quotes of all-time.

  • natural `power no DRUGS , right Mcwire, Canseco, Bonds, A-Rod and more..........

  • It's this simple ................. where many home run hitters have question marks surrounding there performances regarding steroid use or HGH use ................ Babe Ruth got it done WITH HOT DOGS AND BEER. Certainly a true CHAMPION. Lou Gehrig was a True Champion, A True Competitor, A True Gentleman Class Act, A Role Model, A Native New Yorker, and a Legend of Legends!! I, A Detroit Tigers fan of whom has lost respect for baseball due to what else (aforementioned initially), salute 2 GREATS!

  • FAGGOTS TORN DOWN THE PARK

  • The Babe made baseball America's sport. Maybe it's football now, but there's no comparable icon in the NFL.

  • @nihonjoe06 no man... its baseball

  • Folks always forget that Ruth was the best LHP in the AL who set a WS record for consecutive scoreless innings that was not broken until Whitey Ford in the 60's. ( he also started ang got tossed from a perfect game! Look it up! )...Oh and BTW, I heard he swung a pretty mean stick as well....Greatest athlete in a single sport ever ( of course the greatest athlete period was Jim Thorpe ). I mean he pitched and played OF at the same time and dominated both positions..and I hate the Yankees!

  • @ekimfloom

Absolutely. Ruth would have been elected to the Hall of Fame and considered one of the greatest pitchers of all time even if he had never moved to offense.

    Fun fact:

My dad grew up in Tom Zachary's hometown and his wife (Tom's that is) worked at a restaurant that was a part of a hotel. My dad worked for her and Tom used to come in all the time for coffee and stuff. My dad told me all about it. I am currently living in Graham which is literally right next to Burlington. RIP Tom

  • @ekimfloom C'mon Ruth pitched to the first batter of that game, got mad at the umpire after he called 4 straight balls and got ejected. Ernie Shore came in, the runner was thrown out trying to steal and since Shore was on the mound for all 27 outs, at one time it was considered a perfect game by Shore, not Ruth. Now ML baseball lists it officially as a combined no-hitter. Even as a young man the Babe was known to be a bit hungover and grouchy in real hot weather.

  • they run weird back then...

  • The steroids were different.

  • Hey Einstein, they were no steroids in 1927. Try to think. That is if you have a brain!

  • Jebus H. Christ, put your beer or whatever you're drinking or smoking or inhaling down. I've never seen four simple words cause such consternation.

You are either utterly without humor or wit, or just too tightly wrapped. Or maybe it was a bad night, which everybody has a right to. So, which was it? I don't think it was steroids. They haven't been available since 1927.

  • for some reason the yankees always get good players

  • Is Queen necessary in this video?

  • I take that back. Queen is ALWAYS necessary. I apologies. I am currently very high.

  • yeah......WTF?

    Sabbath would be better....Supertzarz!

  • STOP ARGUING ABOUT WILT CHAMBERLAIN DAMN IT. its a video about Babe Ruth. Enjoy the clip!

  • How long are we going to have to put up with this insipid video which is obviously fake. The first two pitches are clearly not in Yankee stadium and are from years earlier than the third pitch.

So how do we know the third pitch was the actual 60th home run? The banners on the stadium tell me it was more like an opening day.

  • Does anyone know or maybe find his Treasure Island Florida address? I live nearby there and nobody knows where his winter house is. I'd love to know where he lived. For us, he is only a legend. As a Sox fan, he is not my favorite player but can't deny he was the most famous athlete/ of the era and did some pretty amazing things for his time. Everyone loved baseball back then, it was our game. Wish I could go back in time to watch the "dead ball era".

  • The Babe was awesome!!!!

  • too bad he played in a totally worthless segregated league and his accomplishments are meaningless..

  • that's like saying Wilt Chamberlain's statistics are worthless because he was playing against six foot tall white dudes.

  • Wilt's accomplishments weren't all that impressive. because it was an 8 team league with centers averaging 6'7" in height.

however, the NBA wasn't a league closed to all but one race.. so it was more legit than this joke of a league ruth played in..

  • You're a pure idiot.

  • are you're a brainless piece of sh!t...

  • Comment removed

  • Yes, you REALLY ARE AN IDIOT.

I guarantee two things: 1) You never saw Wilt play, and 2) you never played the game yourself.

Wilt was (according to people who played against him, whom I know PERSONALLY) the most amazing physical human to ever play the game. He could run, score, pass, and rebound (admittedly when he WANTED to) and was the strongest man to play the game. He could have excelled as a boxer, as a wide-receiver, really, they said, at anything.

    (continued...)

  • That the league was smaller meant, you idiot, that it was better, the competition tougher, (much tougher) and that players played each other more often, thereby giving them a chance to learn to play each other well.

No one could stop Wilt. Not Russel (I guess HIS accomplishments were no big deal either, eh?) nor Jabbar/Alcindor nor Shaq nor anyone your little pea brain can imagine.

As a NY Knick fan, I saw Wilt play many times from the mid-60's through his last year, 1973.

  • you are fcuking stupid.. an 8 team league of 6'7" centers..is never better than a 30 team league of international players where the average PLAYER is 6'7"..

not saying wilt wasn't great, but no way he averages 50 ppg in todays league.. he'd be more like a Dwight Howard, those kinds of numbers..

  • Ah, the ever-annoying voice of juvenile stupidity. Really, now, all kidding aside what grade are you in? Second? Third?

Dwight Howard? Howard's a talented player. But sorry, Wilt would push him around like a rag doll. Please, you twisted product of in-breeding, no doubt.

Wilt would not allow him anywhere NEAR the basket. There is no one in the NBA now could deal with Wilt in his prime. No one.

Now go do your homework! School day tomorrow!

  • shut the fuck up, you stupid piece of sh!t... you fucking retarded reject..

go get fucked in the ass by your farm animals, you sh!t stupid vermin..

i know more about the NA than you could ever imagine.. faggot punk..

  • Clearly, you are very intelligent, well-informed and knowledgeable about the NA.

What a guy. Wilt sucked, you're right! Russell was wrong, West was wrong, everybody was wrong... except you...

Uh, have you seen a doctor lately?

  • yeah, i said wilt sucked comparing him to the elite center in the NBA.. shut the fuck up you piece of garbage.. you are beyond retarded...

  • Yeah. Wilt sucked. Right. Wilt sucked. No talent whatsoever. In fact, he shouldn't have even been allowed to play in the "NA"!

    Just wanted to be clear.

    You are clearly deranged.

Wilt would have averaged 70 points/game if he played against today's pussy athletes.

    Okay, PAL?

I've wasted enough time with you on this absurd topic.

  • you're so fucking stupid it's ridiculous..

  • W r u talking about piece of crap, stop to shit from your mouth iliterate, learn how to talk before spit mistakes from your gay ass, Wilt Chamberlain is the most unstoppable basketball force everybody except you has ever seen. Just shut up bitch.

  • You, dickhead, shut up or i kill you.

  • I live in Mexico DF, i don't think you'll like to fly here these days cunt. Ok, i went to far, but why did you say all that bullshit? Youre a little douchebag.

  • Easy, WiltKansas. It ain't worth it. This guy, theredferal it whacked. He sucks off NBA players and thinks they are better than anyone in the past.

Argue with fact and stats. That's all that means anything.

  • THE BEAST

  • babe > bonds

  • babe, you were the shit

  • @heartyhoopz1184 Not to be rude, but that is a dumb comment.

  • No doubt he hit the ever loving shit out of that one.

  • 0:33

    Holy shit.

I think that baseball's still travelling. Babe really was the original uber-athlete.

  • Hes not an athlete.... he hit some home runs, he was still fat and slow, and couldnt do anything else

  • Well...considering he once STOLE HOME...won 95+ games as a pitcher and still holds the consecutive scoreless IP streak in the WS...I'd say he could do much more. He was listed at 6'2 215 in his prime - and if you check pictures from his early to late career...he was not fat. He was only heavy in his last 2-3 seasons. Lifetime .342 average to boot...

I'd say he could do a bit more than "just home some home runs," kid.

  • The greatest player of all time; nobody but he and Ted Williams ever combined power and average to such a degree. And Babe WAS a top pitcher for the Red Sox before his hitting compelled management to move him to the outfield so he could play every day. He also saved baseball after the Black Sox scandal, while Bonds did his part to nearly destroy baseball with the steroid scandal.

  • @buckfan1969 ---got that right. Ruth and Bonds were polar opposites in a lot of ways, including their attitudes

  • @buckfan1969 what people like you don't understand is that steroids legitimately saved baseball after the player strike. the homerun race between mcgwire and sammy got people excited about the sport again. we should be thanking steroids. and dont even get me scarted about barry. babe was a better pure hitter, but barry was a better allaround player. no disrespect to the babe...he is a legend. its just that barry deserves respect too

  • @mothahen123 So now the argument has evolved from steroids don't help a hitter to steroids saved baseball? Please...Bonds was a good hitter but not in Ruth's or Williams' class; not even close until he started cheating. Go look at his stats prior to 1995. I hope he goes to jail and never sniffs the hall of fame.

  • @buckfan1969 i don't get your first statement. steroids saved baseball...that's a fact not an argument. after the player strike, the home run race reguvinated baseball. first of all, who says barry started in 1995? secondly, prior to that he'd already won rookie of the year, won 5 silver slugger awards, 5 all-star bids, 6 mvp awards, and 5 more gold gloves. how can you say that that is not legendary by itself?

  • @mothahen123 First; he'd only won 3 MVP's prior to 2000; then won 4 from ages 37-40; a time when every other player in the history of the game was slowing down. His numbers prior to steroids were very good, but not legendary. Baseball survived strikes in 1972 and 1981. No reason they wouldn't have survived this one also. Steroids did far more harm than good; it cheapens the records of every honest player who ever played the game and put everyone in the steroid era under suspicion.

  • @buckfan1969 i read the stats wrong about the mvps. that's false. his stats were legendary. the only year that really sticks out in the 2000s was the year he hit 73. the rest were on par with the rest of his career. he also hit those with 177 walks, and against pitchers who were juicing too. all he did was even the playing field.

  • fuck he really killed it

  • Sorry,I mistaked legacy for legend.

  • Only when he hit the homerun,he didn't move from basement of feet. He is a legasy of Baseball.
