i love osx. just recently bought a mac, and osx seems faster, more intuitive, less cluttered, and yes, more attractive than windows. i dont understand how windows is better for business. for gaming, windows is obviously better. i produce videos and music and osx shits on windows so far.
I prefer my custom built PC over a mac. I know what's in it, I can upgrade it and i don't have to buy specific components to keep my warranty. IF i ever do have a hardware fail, I can just sent it in to get another. PC is the most versatile platform out there and has room for way more expansion than mac. I use Windows7 and I do not get viruses. I do have to say that a mac is great for Photoshop.
And seriously, If I wanted to have a mac, i'd build a very Powerful PC and dual boot Windows and Hackintosh, that way I won't be stuck with apple hardware yet I can use mac if I want to.

I use Win7, OSX and ubuntu, to be honest I find myself doing more and more on ubuntu, it's just quicker, and does not get in the way, plus I love the way you can get just about any software you need, free, legally, just be opening the software center. The other two are good, but they feel a little bloated, sluggish, and the business model is showing its age.
Windows 7 is good. Snow Leopard is also good. Both have their pros and cons. Leave it at that. No one can say one is better than the other, they are both equal. Maybe you like one better than the other. Problem solve.
If you have the hardware to back it up, yep. Though honestly they are different, and unless you need the new things in win 7 I wouldn't suggest upgrading. I own XP pro and Wind 7 pro (x64) and honestly can say that there isn't enough to force an upgrade, if you got everything you want already in XP.
I use both OS's I found MAC OS is a way batter than windows 7. now I use MAC for business and day to day use its stable and reliable and i never had to format it. I only use Windows 7 for MMO games nothing more after I stuffed with all windows errors and formatting crap.

Windows 7 all the way. I'm a vista user, and I have got the BSOD a few times but the OS is not as bad as people make it out to be. Even so, Windows 7 is definatly better.

@TheMRUndead For a grandma, or somebody fairly computer illiterate, install Ubuntu/Linux for them. Most people just want to browse the internet, and Ubuntu is great for that. I was just using it recently, and was pretty impressed with how much it has evolved. If they want to use other softwares however, like games, that's where compatibility issues come into play, and where you should just stick to Windows, and accept your inevitable fate of the blue screen of death.

look, the best bet REALLY is to buy a Mac. YOU CAN PUT WINDOWS ON IT! AND the hardware is amazing, nobody can say it isnt. So if you buy a Mac, and you don't like OS X, put windows on it and you still have the best laptop hardware EVER and you have your preferable operating system! THEN you know in the future that you can buy a Sony Vaio instead of a Mac. Simples.
@HyperkidZero Macs don't have the best hardware ever. Not to say theirs is complete crap, they have some pretty sick shit, but you can find allot more ram, better processors, higher capacity hard at cheaper prices elsewhere. With Macs, you're pretty much stuck with what you got other than being able to add some ram and or a bigger hard drive. There are to many things to list that make Macs look worse than other PC's in some ways.

@HyperkidZero I personally disagree with that. I went through Apples prices and their custom build system, and their highest end IMac costs over 4000 dollars. Issue for me it, I'm a gamer, and most triple A titles dont run on Mac, plus I could get a custom build PC from HP, that is faster then the fastest Imac, for 1000 dollars less. Plus, if part of my PC breaks, I can replace the part instead of the whole computer.

What I was saying, is that if your not sure, then just go ahead and buy a Mac Mini or something, that way even if you don't like Mac OS X, you can run Windows on it, so then you know your next computer will be something from another company. Apple make excellent, premium computers. No matter what OS is on them.

And after using window Operating Systems for the past 10 years and then just discovering Mac OSX in Sept I'm ... more for Mac OSX, compared to what I used to with Windows 7 Snow Leopard is just better!, and hence why I'm gonna trade me Dell Inspiron 1720 for a MacBook / or MacBook Pro.

I have the best of both worlds, dual booting Mac OS Snow Leopard and Win 7 on my 2008 HP Dv6000 using the chameleon bootloader to load up snow leopard, and i have to say i prefer it just a little more, it uses your computers resources better (RAM, Disk Space) and there are no drivers really needed if you get a new webcam or a microphone or something, it just works. And PC's are cheaper but mac's hardware and software is better. if u cant decide then use youre pc and make a hackintosh dual boot

I like Snow Leopard, but I am a Microsoft fanboy. I have used Snow, and 7 but I liked 7 just a little more. So that is what I run on. I see some things in 7 that copy Snow so I thought that was a little different.

I've been a Windows user for years and never understood the whole Apple bandwagon. But after getting a macbook air, my very first Mac, snow leopard blows Windows out of the water. Dock Expose alone trumps anything Windows can do. Try doing something like Dock Expose on Windows and it will crash. Plus, the multifunction trackpad is solid gold.
@romulus219 actually their are programs on PC that can duplicate what the Dock Expose can do on a MAC, and most PCs now have a Multifunction trackpad, because i'm using 1 on my PC. I also have a MAC but i prefer windows just because the possibiltes with what u can do with a PC or endless but apple kind of limits you. :D
From my experience from both ends i can tell you that both Os's have their advantages and disadvantages. The one that is better is based upon your own preference, for me this would be Windows 7 because i find it suits me more than Mac osx but i wouldn't mind using that as well.

Windows 7 is just the pc what you are looking for as gamer. Its Easy to use, No viruses, no problems and the best of all is: Gaming is realy fast, and just good. :-)

@fdrpyahoocom well ur so lucky cuz my antivirus already detected 23 spywares and trojans, i had to do restart my computer many times cuz it just did not respond, and i had to remove my mozilla firefox, cuz some of the other viruses just fucked it up, every time i open firefox it opens 7 tabs with some wierd codes.

I'm a windows user,I use XP sp3 and I can say that after XP it's a chaos. I upgraded to Vista and then went back to XP.I used 7 at a friend's laptop and didn't liked them either.
I now have decided that my next OS will be Mac.
I will keep xp until new programms stop be compaitible with them.
just because windows 7 is going to be better than vista doesnt make it better than Snow Leopard. the reason 7 has to bring so much to the table is because vista was lacking. and the reason snow leopard is basically an update with a few new features is because they did it right with mac osx. so your reasoning for saying 7 is a must upgrade and snow leopard isnt is horrible. even without snow leopard OSX is still better than windows 7.

Sorry for double posting; i have to disagree that Win7 brings more to the table. Win 7 combines the task bar with quick launch, making it feel like the OS dock, and they they have aero features that aren't very useful. You may or may not use them. But with all the under-the-hood workarounds and rewrites done on snow leopard (compared to leopard) you use them no matter what. GCD and OpenCL are better improvements than Aero snap and Aero Peak and superbar.
@theohmightyniffum Not true, still using Vista on my PC and used 7 several times on other PCs. I'll tell you straight up that it's the same OS, Vista and 7 are perfectly fine. Win 7 just has a few added features since Vista but it's kernel is 95% of Vista.
That's why people could use Vista drivers on it for beta and said "wow it's so stable!". Silly souls.
crap sounds the same no matter what accent you carry! MAC is only good for recording the pictures, video-clips, and sound-cords needed to replay h0m0s3xual experiences. Don't download snow leopard on a gaming comp. My custom built PC with W7 will put all MAC's to shame. What I was saying, is that if your not sure, then just go ahead and buy a Mac Mini or something, that way even if you don't like Mac OS X, you can run Windows on it, so then you know your next computer will be something from another company. Apple make excellent, premium computers. No matter what OS is on them.

I have Windows 7 and i use Snow Leopard with my graphic design course. And after using window Operating Systems for the past 10 years and then just discovering Mac OSX in Sept I'm ... more for Mac OSX, compared to what I used to with Windows 7 Snow Leopard is just better!, and hence why I'm gonna trade me Dell Inspiron 1720 for a MacBook / or MacBook Pro.

It´s simple.. speaking about this time.. in the actuality, you can buy a very very good PC for a very cheap considerable amount of money as for example a Dell XPS M1530 that would cost you around 600 $ or might be less running Windows 7 x64 and it can smoke every Mac and it´s incompatible, but nice appearence Snow Leopard OS X in every fields... am I right? what do you guys think?

I have the best of both worlds, dual booting Mac OS Snow Leopard and Win 7 on my 2008 HP Dv6000 using the chameleon bootloader to load up snow leopard, and i have to say i prefer it just a little more, it uses your computers resources better (RAM, Disk Space) and there are no drivers really needed if you get a new webcam or a microphone or something, it just works. And PC's are cheaper but mac's hardware and software is better. if u cant decide then use youre pc and make a hackintosh dual boot

I've been a Windows user for years and never understood the whole Apple bandwagon. But after getting a macbook air, my very first Mac, snow leopard blows Windows out of the water. Dock Expose alone trumps anything Windows can do. Try doing something like Dock Expose on Windows and it will crash. Plus, the multifunction trackpad is solid gold.

@romulus219 actually their are programs on PC that can duplicate what the Dock Expose can do on a MAC, and most PCs now have a Multifunction trackpad, because i'm using 1 on my PC. I also have a MAC but i prefer windows just because the possibiltes with what u can do with a PC or endless but apple kind of limits you. :D

From my experience from both ends i can tell you that both Os's have their advantages and disadvantages. The one that is better is based upon your own preference, for me this would be Windows 7 because i find it suits me more than Mac osx but i wouldn't mind using that as well.

I'm a windows user,I use XP sp3 and I can say that after XP it's a chaos. I upgraded to Vista and then went back to XP.I used 7 at a friend's laptop and didn't liked them either.
I now have decided that my next OS will be Mac.
I will keep xp until new programms stop be compaitible with them.
When that happens,I will get a Mac.

just because windows 7 is going to be better than vista doesnt make it better than Snow Leopard. the reason 7 has to bring so much to the table is because vista was lacking. and the reason snow leopard is basically an update with a few new features is because they did it right with mac osx. so your reasoning for saying 7 is a must upgrade and snow leopard isnt is horrible. even without snow leopard OSX is still better than windows 7.

Sorry for double posting; i have to disagree that Win7 brings more to the table. Win 7 combines the task bar with quick launch, making it feel like the OS dock, and they they have aero features that aren't very useful. You may or may not use them. But with all the under-the-hood workarounds and rewrites done on snow leopard (compared to leopard) you use them no matter what. GCD and OpenCL are better improvements than Aero snap and Aero Peak and superbar.

7 isn't necessary from XP. xp works perfectly fine and still gets the job done.
Vista on the other hand, well then you might want to upgrade to 7 right away

@theohmightyniffum Not true, still using Vista on my PC and used 7 several times on other PCs. I'll tell you straight up that it's the same OS, Vista and 7 are perfectly fine. Win 7 just has a few added features since Vista but it's kernel is 95% of Vista.
That's why people could use Vista drivers on it for beta and said "wow it's so stable!". Silly souls.
