I don't think this fellow has had a lot of experience in the plumbing business.Never use a flexible pipe on the horizontal between drains as food particles will build up and give off an odor and the drain will also eventually sag with how water. This is actually called an S-trap and obvious for being called that.I have installed 100s of sinks and have never used a flexible tail piece on the horizontal. I have had to use them on vertical applications where they work fine.Best of luck
I learned nothing from this video. I want to know how to cut pvc pipe and instal a sink vent or AAV... It's like a mechanic saying "This is a car it has wheels. If you look here... we got a door and that's how you get into the car." DUHH!!
I really dont want to know 2 things about this video. The first is where did this moron get his "plumbing knowledge." The second being who is the idiot that actually likes this video.
That won't back-syphon, it'll either draw air from the unused sink or the trap will re-seal itself at during the end of the drain. Yeah, it could be tidier.
@killercabbage1 That S trap will siphon itself dry enough to permit sewer gases to come up into the residence. That flexible pipe and the excuse of why he used it is complete crap. That pop up for the drain most of your home depot's dont carry them but they are avail through a plumbing supply house or better yet replace the damn sink baskets with new ones and make it look right. There are reasons why in most plumbing codes they have made S traps illegal. I am a Chicago plumber.
Could possibly be back vented under the floor. But most likely not by looking at the rest of his work. And in Ontario a two inch kitchen sink drain/trap is only required on a three compartment sink after the connection of the third compartment before the trap
2 inch is code for the drain not the trap arm not the any of you back east dumbfuck plumbers would know that with your building traps and fuel oil lines retards
Wow...as a plumber I dont even know where to start. It's most unfortunate you can buy an s-trap at your local hardware store. However; right next to the s-trap there was probably a continuous waste kit that would have been way better and cheaper that that flexible bacteria farm you installed
Anybody watching this for tips, DO NOT LISTEN TO THIS GUY. That is not a p-trap, it is an s-trap. They are illegal. There is no vent, the water will siphon out therefore letting sewer gas into your house. They DO still make the parts he needs, he is just does'nt know. The flex hose will accumulate food and other debris which will in turn start to grow bacteria and smell. Looks like your degree in architecture didnt teach you anything about plumbing. Stick to drawing cad on a computer....
yah, ....thats totally the wrong way. Poor flow, no venting. Should be:
(from left to right) tail piece, trap adapter, closed piece of pipe, connecting piece, 1-1/2" T-Y, dishwasher connection adapter, 1-1/2" union P-trap, tie into existing vent OR run a cheater-vent, make sure ALL of it is graded correctly, avoid the use of a million 45's.
"ALWAYS PUT IN A P-TRAP, IT KEEPS SEWER GASES FROM COMING IN YOUR HOUSE"- You stupid clown, you have an s-trap that is not vented at all, therefore your p-trap is useless! you need to have 11/2 pvc with a san-t and air admittance valve, then you wpuld be vented. YOU DO NOT KNOW SHIT ABOUT PLUMBING, YOU ARE EMBARASSING YOURSELF
dude thats illeigal for one thats an strap also the pipe between the fixture outlets should not be bent haha looks like thats gonna create problems bad plumbing practices for shure lol
You cant get this anymore??? 1 1/2" tail pieces are typical and all you need is 2 trap adapters for each tail piece. Use solid cemented pipe after that. Use a p-trap flowing back into a TY countinous waist and vent. If your rough in was put into the wall like it was supposed to be. Or like stated below. if this is an island/outside wall trap and vent below the floor. Plumbing like this makes me sick but it does give me 50% of my work when Im called to fix it or make it legal. Day & Son Toronto.
There is a reason us plumbers make the money we make... so our work don't end up looking like this. Not only is that an "s " trap and illegal but there is no venting. Fifty bucks says every time this sink is used you hear that wonderful slurping sound of a fixture not properly vented gasping for air... Expert Village my ass ...
Canadian Plumbing regulations say an S Trap is illegal, and so is plumbing a kitchen sink with no venting, Perhaps if it was an island sink it maybe be back vented below the floor.
HAHAHAHAHAH "the reason why i used this flexable pipe is because you cant find this part. you can not getthey dont make it anymore" stupid fucking idiot
No, i'm pretty sure thats a "s" trap. The thing to remember is that not every state, province,or country has the same plumbing code. Still, it's proven that "s" traps will get siphoned and "p" traps will hold a seal.
Whadda Idiot! Flex line on a kitchen sink... That should stink like chit! I like the way he took a p-trap and Rube Goldberg'd it into an illegal s-trap. This guy isn't even qualified to be one of the idiots wearing an apron at homey depot!
must be a specific pop-up assembly cause i can get those things all day. but yeah....im glad this clown isnt doing my "drain plumbing". hope he doesnt have a video on gas piping.
exactly - it's an S trap, not a P trap... S trap will self siphon, and you will not have water in a trap to stop sewer gases from coming inside.. and yeah... where the hell is a vent?
also as a plumber, all i can say is "LOL"......this video HAS to be a joke !! ;)

In my area of the country, a 2 inch pipe is code for the kitchen sink. 11/2 inch is only permitted in bathroom sinks and tubs.

I have to agree about with other comments about the lack of air intake.
You could have at least used an air intake cap with rubber flapper at the "S" top.
It still may have not met code but at least you wouldn't have a problem with the plumbing working or worst case losing the water seal in the trap.
Also. That flexible piece connecting the 2 drains. NO. just NO. You don't use flexibe on horizontal runs.
This, and I'm not even a plumber.
