I dont know but.. i think the best style to deal with the chess board in DMD is Quicksilver. If anyone passed it with other style, i salute you man !

I Royal'd my way through the chess board using Cerberus and Beowulf...it just takes alot of practice with Royal guard

Have you played DMC4? The same studio who did DMC1 done that. It has some nice little gothic elements in it and its very fun. Oh and also they combined Dantes DMC3 and DMC1s good oldschool moves which is also very good, don't know if you agree on that:)

@WhiteOfir if you mean he got hurt in the battle with agni & rudra he use block an ability from royal guard that if you use it correctly you avoid all damage from an attack but if you dont used to it youll get damage

I've been trying this technique on A&R with partial success. Sometimes I successfully block all the incoming damage in the air, and sometimes I get the glass-shattering animation. I still haven't been able to figure out when that happens. Also, that said, is it that when you do the aerial block you DON'T take the minimal damage that you do on the ground?

When properly timed you'll also get no damage on the ground, but the timing is much tighter. Simply put: I abuse the invincibilty that a jump gives me to pretty much negate the timing and get a perfect guard any time I want to. All I need to do, is time my guard at the moment their attack connects.

The shattering animation is of no consequence: The block is still perfect.

Thanks for the timely response! This sheds alot of light on it. I realised that the release on the second jump in is the HUGE payoff on damage. That was the most awesome part to me. Not the clash.

You're welcome!

That's what's called a "Perfect Just Release". It works in pretty much the same way as guarding and I abuse the same trick as with guarding. Since I'm invincible when their attack connects, it phases through me, but as soon as I release, it gets the properties of a perfect just release, meaning that all damage from the attack is negated and maximum damage is dealt. And since they're close together, they both get full damage.

I love abusing this game's system. :D

I been trying this fight a few times playing the mission over, just cuz it looks so kickass. I still seem to SOMETIMES block the first jump, and sometimes I take damage and get knocked back. I'm guessing I have to do it either a split second earlier or later, but it's hard to see that making the difference.

Well, it's a matter of weakpoints, I guess. And Royalguard abuse. The releases + DTFlux just deal that much damage, even on DMD!.

Beowulf's weak spot is his only eye and Aerial Cross alone is quite strong.

And sometimes, on A&R, my shots coincided with them hitting themselves.

It happens occasionally. When you have them clash their weapons for a set amount of times (or you clashing with theirs), they drop them.
