@aflpds9 Okk. The poison dart frogs lose their poison in captivity because of the loss of their toxic diet. All their toxins come from their food which make them poisonous.! In the wild they constantly eat toxic bugs. Technically all pdfs are poisonous, It all depends on their diet , if their poisonous or not.

@etwchamps, if there kept captive for awhile, there poison just wears off. it grew stronger in the wild because us, humans, wreck there habitat and they grew stronger poisions

how have to set up the drainage sysyem? I am in the process of build a custom terrarium for my 2 R.E.T.F, and i want to adapt a drainages system as the rain system and humidifier bring the water level up. i dont want this to happen in my new build. I plan to have fish in the bottom of the terra with a massive over hang on one half with a custom waterfall on that half that cicles water over the over hang into the water with the fish. i was going to add a turn lever tap at the bottom on the side.

No, actually, they are a common parasite that resides in the frog's stool. Some breeders will save the parasite with hopes that it will grow limbs and emerge from the water to start the cycle over again. The more you know!

ONE BIG WOW!!!! its really a cool and very tight set-up for the world second most poisonous animal... i mean "animal" or the whole living species rather! so sad even though Poison Dart Frog would be the coolest pet you may ever have but still you could'nt be too careless about it... i got my death stalker scorp its the only thing i could manage to take care of.... but with that extensive care and prevention is a MUST if you still care for your life... Posion dart frogs apparently don't produce their own toxins they derive them from the posionous plants and insects they eat in the wild, the toxin of which they are immune to.

Captive bred frogs are non toxic so he should lead a good long life. :)

Actually, all domestically bred poison darts are safe to own. There's something about what they consume in the wild that allows them to secret toxins through their skin. At least that's what I've read-I'm no amphibian keeper :)

I think the reason he dont have a tank just for the tads is because some species of frog tads tend to be cannibalistic..sorry if thats spelled wrong :P with dart frog tads its best to keep the seperate

No cleaning needed. The frog droppings fertilize the plants and the mister sends water through the soil down into the drainage system.

hey u got bettas aswell kool i got a room full of them i hav to albino frog they laid eggs and ate them and laid some more eggs and then i took them out and put them in a larger tank quater filled water so the tadpoles wont die and some rock when they turn into froglets plus plants nice room and is really good you must of spent alot of money
