Those pitching staffs were VERYVERY solid, don't forget the relievers back then threw at least 2 or 3 innings, not 2 or 3 outs like today. 1976 staff that swept the Yanks all could have started but Bourbon. No such thing as a "CLOSER" back then.
@spo36 Thanks fore coming out and visiting the ol' channel!! Yore right the role of the closer was just beginning to be recognized with the advent of the ol' ROLAIDS reliever of the year award!! Ahh...a great time to be alive! Thanks again fore coming out. Live Long and Prosper!!!
One of the biggest the mysteries to me is how those young pitchers all disappeared after 1976. Gullett, Eastwick, McEnaney, Gary Nolan, Pat Darcy, Santo Alcala, Manny Sarmiento, and others. Jack Billingham, Pedro Bourbon, and Fred Norman played the course.
@Ariamaluum Thanks fore coming out and the visit. Maybe you just gave me a good IDEA of the next sports video I should make! Thanks again Live Long and Prosper!!!
@mrrick1957 Thanks fore stopping by...glad you liked it! Sorry it took so long to answer back. I'm OTR driver with limited internet access, but hope to do more. Live Long and Prosper!!!
They were arguably the best team of all time '75 and '76 Reds that is. The NY Yankees had a few teams that were possibly as good like 1927, 1961 and 1998.
@L4CES Thanks for the comment and kickin' the dust off this video. I agree they could be one of (if not the greatest)the best baseball team(s) of all-time.Thanks again fore coming out! Live Long and Prosper!!
@DrDupe Dooley noted. Thanks for stopping by & leaving a comment! I agree the '70 team was the foundation of the "Big Red Machine". Live Long and Prosper!!!
@jasonresler Thanks for the comment and stopping by. once I'm off the road I hope to put a couple more vids together about the Reds and baseball in the '70s in general. Live Long and Prosper!!!
Good video IMO. As a lifelong Cincinnatian I feel very lucky to have watched that team come together over those years. Looking back on it now, I didn't appreciate those guys as much as I should have. The Red's winning - was all I knew and I expected it. Of course we now know how special those guys and the entire organization was....took another 14yrs. to win it all again. Now we're at the 20yr. mark without a WS Championship.
@breehound Thanks for the reply. Amen brother on the Reds situation on W.S.s'. The '76 court victory for the players that gave them full free-agency, is the reason most teams couldn't put another team like that together and KEEP them togther long enough to win championships. I had fun putting this little video together, and am glad somebody got some enjoyment out of it!! GO RED-DOGS!!!
First viewer, first comment. I've been a Reds fan my whole life and loved the Big Red Machine, but you two guys look and sound like a couple of redneck sheep and goat fuckers.
HEY.......mister I was just tryiing to help that poor little sheep OVER the fence!!! Besides they dropped ALL charges....anyway THANKS for stopping by and feel free to stop back by anytime and leave a comment. (cause with comments like that who needs enemies??) GO BIG RED DOGS!!!!

You need to show the 1970 team when mentioning it. That Reds team was special and there's no Big Red Machine without it.
