all dogs pout like that... well most of the breeds anyway..and so many breeds of dogs like to stay in physical contact with their owners..most of these owners think that only their dog does that thing..its so naive.. and about the temperament..it depends on individual dog..there can be very aggressive labs and very friendly doberman or german shepherd .. all in all every dogs nice coz they connect with people so nicely compared to other animals.

I have a boxer and I have never met a more friendlier dog who is a people person. When we leave he literally sits around the house and pouts and purposely gets into things he knows he not suppose to, and when I get home he knows that he has been bad and he just hangs his head down and looks at me like am I in trouble? It's hard to get onto him for things. He loves to go on rides. He looks mean but is so loving. Everyone that meets him, loves him!

I agree with DaStr8Truth about this because when dogs play with each other they know how much pressure to apply to another dog.....but a little kid does not have that kind of discretion. I think it is cruel to sit back and watch a child hurt a dog and then say it was all in fun. Yes i know dogs like playing with kids but it should always be supervised. I love boxers. They have such different personalities. Many people think they look like aggressive fighting dogs. I think they look sooo adorable. I think my boxer know how to push my buttons. It have a look that makes me not yell at it (making it hard, anyway), one that makes me play with it, one that says 'feed me'. It also has a tendency to come into my sitting room, sit by the fireplace, sigh, and look blaming at me if the fire's not on. It also blocks the way for the neighbors' cars.
My son was playing with our boxer Minnie and he pushed her over and started tickleing her, then Minnie got up and boxed him down and started licking him and I could not stop laughing.

It is not a cheap procedure which suggests this person has a vested interest in retaining and taking good care of that dog and as an owner of a rescued boxer that was abandoned, shot with a bb gun while homeless, and nearly starved when I got her, I have to say any dedicated dog owner is a welcome dog owner. Even tail docking you can make a (admittedly weak) case as being healthy for the dog considering how many boxers break their full length tails later in life. However, there is zero reason to crop ears other than for aesthetic reasons for the OWNER'S benefit and NOT the animal's.

cropping the ears used to be a breed standard ~20 years ago, at least in my country - it's gone now. however, you MUST get their tail cut as they wiggle it like crazy and it hurts them when they're grown up.

But even not, it's still no excuse to cut off parts of a dog. Off any animal. Imagine me cutting off parts of a kid just because I like it.
@TreyMoore92 since there are a lot of blood vessels in the ears, they tend to bleed a lot. Hurts for up to 2 weeks, but boxers also tend to have a high pain tolerance. Even so, i don't think its very nice. It is illegal to crop the ears in quite a few countries
@Saartje05 its for health issues, i had my 2nd boxer and he had his ears up. but then at age 10, he died from cancer. their ears can catch anything like germs, viruses and bugs. its safer to have it down because they can live longer and be healthy. i have a new boxer, age, 11 and a half.

My friends had a non cropped boxer that even died at the age of 17. Their ears can catch germs? Check them every week and you don't have problems. All you said about 'catching' things does mean the dogs aren't been checked as they should be Like ALL floppy eared dogs. Cropping dogs is just an excuse.

I agree with DaStr8Truth about this because when dogs play with each other they know how much pressure to apply to another dog.....but a little kid does not have that kind of discretion. I think it is cruel to sit back and watch a child hurt a dog and then say it was all in fun. Yes i know dogs like playing with kids but it should always be supervised. I have heard dogs cry out because a child stuck something in it's ear canal or it's eyes....So DaStr8 you are 100% correct.

I love boxers. They have such different personalities. Many people think they look like aggressive fighting dogs. I think they look sooo adorable. I think my boxer know how to push my buttons. It have a look that makes me not yell at it (making it hard, anyway), one that makes me play with it, one that says 'feed me'. It also has a tendency to come into my sitting room, sit by the fireplace, sigh, and look blaming at me if the fire's not on. It also blocks the way for the neighbors' cars.

Dogs aren't born with tails for nothing. People kept telling those stories to have an excuse, but it's total nonsense.

It is not a cheap procedure which suggests this person has a vested interest in retaining and taking good care of that dog and as an owner of a rescued boxer that was abandoned, shot with a bb gun while homeless, and nearly starved when I got her, I have to say any dedicated dog owner is a welcome dog owner. Your reference points for decisions and opinions are not the same as any other persons - consider that. Have a good day!

In my country (Belgium), cropping ears and tails is now prohibited, and I'm glad!
Some people over here want 'cropped' dogs, so they import them from Spain, where this is still legal.
(Spain is also the country in Europe with the most abandoned and dumped dogs by the way...)
Also the uncropped look fits a boxer's character much, much better!

People make me sick when they think it is cute for their annoying little kids to pull on a dog's ears or to crawl all over the dog. Try putting yourself in the dog's place and see how you would like some pain in the ass kid digging in your eyes or ears and you sit back and laugh and say "Oh what a great dog,he is so good with the children" then when he one day gets tired of it and snaps at your undisciplined kids you want to get rid of the dog. they stay the age of 2 their hole life, which means they never calm down and always jumping all over the place, there not aggressive anymore and good with kids.
its a healthy dog but only has a life span of 7 to 9 years which is suprising considering how healthy they look. they also are strong and like to pull you along on the lead so some woman have trouble walking them.

Oh my goodness, I cannot wait to get my boxer puppy! He's coming home in eleven days! I am so excited. My husband and I decided that it was best not to crop his ears. Though, its tail came docked. His name is Lance. I can't wait to have Lancy! He's a beautiful brindle boy with a white blaze on his chest and cute white mittens. I'm so so so excited!

Even tail docking you can make a (admittedly weak) case as being healthy for the dog considering how many boxers break their full length tails later in life. However, there is zero reason to crop ears other than for aesthetic reasons for the OWNER'S benefit and NOT the animal's.

I do not work in the Pet Care group but my GBU is closely tied to theirs so I interface with many people who do work in Pet Care and these people are some of the most companssionate people I have ever met -- to humans and dogs alike. cropping the ears used to be a breed standard ~20 years ago, at least in my country - it's gone now. however, you MUST get their tail cut as they wiggle it like crazy and it hurts them when they're grown up.

@TreyMoore92 since there are a lot of blood vessels in the ears, they tend to bleed a lot. Hurts for up to 2 weeks, but boxers also tend to have a high pain tolerance. Even so, i don't think its very nice. It is illegal to crop the ears in quite a few countries

@Saartje05 its for health issues, i had my 2nd boxer and he had his ears up. but then at age 10, he died from cancer. their ears can catch anything like germs, viruses and bugs. its safer to have it down because they can live longer and be healthy. i have a new boxer, age, 11 and a half.

@1Rockyboxer1 Sorry, but that's the biggest nonsese I've ever heard. I've worked with dogs and boxer's ears have never been cropped here and there's not one I know that died of cancer in the ears. My friends had a non cropped boxer that even died at the age of 17. Their ears can catch germs? Check them every week and you don't have problems. All you said about 'catching' things does mean the dogs aren't been checked as they should be Like ALL floppy eared dogs. Cropping dogs is just an excuse.
