  • I Hate stereotype films...but this film changes the routines of shit American films...Its great job by Japanese

  • You have tip your hat to the actors. Without their convincing portrayals this would have been a bad movie. It had to be done just right. Like the scene of the man who seems so lost and alone at his wife's funeral--you could see how empty life had become for him. And the way the other man cried when he watched his mother's coffin go up. It's powerfully emotional and had to be done perfectly and it was. And, of course, Daigo preparing his father's body and all his emotions spill out.

  • i watched the movie!! and it's soooooooo sooooooooooooooooo amazing!!! i can only beg you all to watch it!

  • Omg,it's Simply Amazing..Can anyone recommend me m0re JMovies?!

  • I read somewhere that the main character Dai has prepared himself about 10 years for this movie. He wrote story , learned playing cello and so on...

Dont know if its true but anyway i think this movie is worth watching. It provides many messages to the viewer.

For example most people treating each other with very deep respect impressed me. Maybe in Japan its normal but elsewhere its different....

Besides music is nice, didnt know cello can produce such sad but beautiful sounds.

  • I live in Japan (not Japanese though), and admittedly, a lot of what is in this movie is still thought of as being important in Japan, where it has been lost elsewhere int he hustle and bustle of modernity. Of course all countires have their bad aspects, but one reason I love Japan is the importance placed on duty to society and others, and for that very reason I do not want to leave.

  • Duty, discipline and devotion---and when you notice it, you are having another day of life with good amount of self-respect.

    enjoy your stay!

  • @10from10 According to the director, the actor who played Daigo was the one who conceived of this movie when he became interested in funeral ceremonies and the film took 15 years from conception to completion. I don't know about the cello stuff.

  • sniff

  • I saw this film in Brazil, where it's called 'A Partida'. I found it fantastic. The Director take a subject, Death, which is normally seems taboo, but makes it into something thoughtful, and poetic. This film is a 'Must See'!
