they made an american version of the original series Life on Mars (which this is the 3rd series off) and trust me ... it turned out so bad they canned it before it reach the end of the series

The American remake ended so literally to the title, I wonder if the remake of Ashes to Ashes will end with all the cast being set on fire? THAT would be great television!

@zl4iuzmh because an american remake of a british tv show has never worked. To my knowledge the british have never remade an american tv program. For example the it crowd, same story line, but it wasn't as good as the original. Also the life on mars usa version wasn't as good, because they chose wrong actors and it wasn't as funny. And before you accuse me of being biased, i'm icelandic, and i have watched both versions.

I know ppl say its not as good as Life on Mars, therefore its crap, but I just don't c it that way. It took some time to get out of its predecessor's shadow but its a really good entertaining show in its own right. Sad that after this we won't hear from the Life on Mars universe again. considering it was now like 20 years ago, a show in 90s may have worked (I say may with alot of emphasis)
