Great lesson, I am writing down the notes/tabs so I can learn this. But I was wondering is he mistakingly calling the D string the G string during the chorus part?

@DrtyWrm okay I was pausing the video as I was learning each part, he corrected himself later in the video.
@DrtyWrm Yeah...sometimes I get my strings muddled up!!!

How about giving a lesson on timing? Demonstrate n explain the difference between playing spot on with the beat, slightly ahead n slightly behind.

Pretty sure this is Wilton Felder not Jamerson, in the opening riff is using open strings as well.

@twowheelzforme Definitely Felder playing on this track. I think Bass Player Magazine did a feature on it in the late 90s....

Check this fingering.

Take a look at my channel and see an alternate fingering for this? I think you might like it. Just the way I learned.
Great work! ... I prefer the earlier David Ruffin version on which, I believe, James Jamerson played the bassline.

@Splodgo Thanks - yep, I'm pretty sure Jamerson played on the David Ruffin version.
I'm sure you've heard it, but check out David Ruffin's version of 'My Whole World Ended' - now, THAT'S a bassline :)
@howtoplaybassdotcom ooo yeah .. that's an awesome bassline!! :-D
It's simpler and more efficient to play the whole thing in the first position, isn't it?
