Columbia 300 Freeze bowling ball thrown by Lynda Barnes

The Freeze is a good ball, but I think that I may need to get it baked...it doesn't hook like it used to, except on REALLY dry patterns.

Got to say I've had this ball for about a year as of last Saturday

It is a VERY good ball for junior league bowlers (like meh =)) looking for a second ball or third

but like every ball if you don't bake some of the oil off or use a machine its not gonna be as good anymore

just bowled with it today on fresh oiled lanes... wasnt gettin the hook i use to =(

time to look into buying a new 1

very good ball for me it will last me another season of bowling then I think ill move on to a better ball

Got it drilled a few hours ago, played a few games, and no matter which way I threw it it always hooks toward the middle. Very nice ball.

@SHAWNINATOR lol if youre getting coached, and the guy that made the ball tells you to throw it a certain way for its PAP, then do it, I've been not listening fo rthe past year and lol guess what I just did, what he told me way back , and I'm getting so much more hook that way... that's if the guy knows what PAP is, and I bet he/she does f they're drillign the ball ;)

i'm a 2 handed and i have a freeze..what i can i say it's a fun ball,it hits very hard and for it's price it's perfect...if you want to throw it straight it will go...it's a ball for medium-heavy oil in my opinion...just played with it on a 44 and it hooked how y needed..

@aaronketten Definitly, this is the best bang for your buck. It's equivilent to some of the higher end ($300) balls at a third of the price. Cool B-day present, your gonna love it. Especially going from house balls, it's like another world. Next invest in some shoes and you will be on your way to high averages in no time.

@aaronketten I personally wear a mid range priced pair of Etonic's but even the cheaper ones ($35-$50) are decent shoes and are perfect for a beginner, atlest until you know for a fact that your gonna get serious about the sport and possibly join a leauge. But if you are just going to bowl for fun, the cheaper ones should last you a lifetime and suit all your needs. Feel free to message me if u need any more help. Cheers

@aaronketten i own the ball and it's a good ball. it's perfect scale is at 168 meaning it will hook but will also go straight if you don't hook a ball. great for spares and for learning to hook the ball. it's a great first ball because it will tell you if you need a ball with less or more hook or what not.

Been bowling with a freeze at my local house for 2 years and love it. House pro highly recommended it and uses it himself. His reasoning? unless you're going to roll "pro oil patterns" there is no reason to spend $200 on a high end ball when the Freeze will do just as well for $100. The Freeze is as much ball as you'll need for house shots. I watched him bowl in his league and there had to be 20 guys rolling the Freeze.

Okay I just got this ball and I'm not a good "hooker" (not the one on the corner) I mostly got it because of the price of $108 on the dot it was a steel and that is with custom fitting and free re-drilling.I'm a power house and can bowl in a straight line great so is this a good ball for me?

@cloud33113 well, the ball was made to curve in my experience, it's kind of hard to not make it curve is what im saying, but regardless it hits the pocket well so its a good ball. my average is 170. my first game i got with this was a 200 somethin

@cloud33113 You sound exactly like me. You probably bought the ball forever ago but I just got mine last week and I have never been able to pick up the 7 or 10 pin spares so easily with this ball because it bowls pretty straight. I got the option 1 drilling on it and I have been getting hooking down and man this thing to me hooks hard if i can get it deep enough into the back end because when it snaps back it hits like a freight train. Tell me about your experience if you got it.

@carshowman24 Well I got this ball after I made the bowling team in November and I loved it the first time I rolled it down the ally. I always use to roll it strait because I didn't know how to hook my ball (with a conventional ball it is harder and I use conventional) but I found out that it was hurting my hand if I rolled it like that so i now hook my ball and it works great.

weight looks nice, first ball I got, and well yeah like you all are saying, it isn't hooking enough, I was thinking we could probably resurface it to a 200 grit... cuz stock this comes at 4000 Grit,so I guess it really was meant for dry haha...

Honestly, This Freeze Only suitable on Medium -Dry lane condition ( for Me ) ... In Oily lane , Better dont try it.. The Ball can skid too long...Agree with Mikeploki..

I like this ball but I have trouble getting it to hook on oily lanes. To me this is the only flaw with it. Just not enough grip. I'm going to keep it for open play but try something else for league.

@rjones383 This ball isn't meant to be strong enough for fresh oil, most bowlers get this for when the lanes dry up and they need something to go long so they can conserve energy.

Get the Freeze! I promise you that you will be happy you did! Mine is pin under ring finger with CG kicked out a little. I hit it with a soft 4000 to take a little shine off. AWESOME!

My brother gave me my first ball which i still use (a hammer sharp blade) and would anyone think a columbia freeze would be an upgrade for me or should i stick with what i have.

it depends if you want more reaction I have both of those balls and the freeze hooks a lot more. My reactive started to die thats when i bought this one and my average improved significantly.

@PSLcarlitos the Pro at my house, "Miracle Lanes" carries a 220 avg. and LOVES the "freeze" he actually recommended it to me above the Hammer Jigsaw Corner, Storm Virtual Energy, Ebonite Mission. He said he has sold 30+ balls to the guys in his league and these guys are SERIOUS about their equipment.

this was my first ball and i still use it every once in a while when the lanes dry up.. its got a lot of backend but if you get a little firm it doesnt recover that well, at least for me. good ball though for the price

well now ive got a virtual gravity and a storm fast.. the v grav is a huge step up in terms of hook and recovery and i use the fast when i wanna play straight up the outside for drier conditions

Just went to a pro shop with my dad yesterday and had this ball ordered with custom inserts, weighing at 15 pounds. I get it next Saturday and I can't wait to rip up the lanes at my local bowling alley. I also got tips from the guys at the pro shop and they used the classic football spiral example to explain the hook shot to me lol

I just started bowling last year and today I bowled a 225 and a 246 with this thing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was so excited :) You'll love it. I just ordered a step up... well alot of steps up. The Virtual Gravity by Storm. That made my day even better :)
