Did you guys just make this up? The amount of gamma radiation used on food can not create free radicals to any dangerous amount. They do make radio-lytic compounds but EACH and EVERY one has been strongly evaluated and if they are found unsafe those foods are denied from radiation.

Just so you know: There are many more kinds of bacteria that exist in the world that do not cause disease than those that do. In fact, your colon cannot digest food without it. Your body is covered in what is referred to as microflora/microbiota. Having your body covered in these bacteria means that when your body encounters a disease causing bacteria, there is little room for that disease causing bacteria to multiply.

Don't know if it's true about irradiation causing free radicals but the human body has mechanisms to repair damage from free radicals. So I wouldn't be concerned by getting a few extra from irradiated food. I'd be more concerned about dying from salmonella or botulism. It would be nice to cut down on all those nights spent on the toilet because I ate something that was a little bit tainted.

For example: Deep fried foods are notorious sources of free radicals. They're caused by oil being continuously oxidized when it is heated at high temperatures. Just so you know: There are many more kinds of bacteria that exist in the world that do not cause disease than those that do. In fact, your colon cannot digest food without it. Your body is covered in what is referred to as microflora/microbiota. Having your body covered in these bacteria means that when your body encounters a disease causing bacteria, there is little room for that disease causing bacteria to multiply.

OMG - These heinous companies will always put profit before the health of mankind, because they just don't care. What is even more horrendous is that Mr Obama is allowing it to happen. yes, power/money hungry people are very ambitious and can be very corruptible. people who are'nt, are not and do not seek positions in such power. however the only people who truly get what they want are the ones with power. to fix this, those people who are not power hungry must also be very ambitious.

The generations "X" & "Y", our children and grandchildren are expected to have a lower lifespan than us, due to the western worlds obesity epidemic.
I am sad to say that my country Australia has now overtaken the United States No. 1 position in severe obesity.
Luckily, we have a free health care program for ALL to help to try to tackle this.
Talking of food.....
I'm hungry, I am going outside to pick my own salad, with some eggs from my 3 chickens, which run free in my back yard!

I'm trying to get people 2 have an OPEN mind to everything. were lied to on everything - so how can someone be closed minded & not listen to information? Y comment then? i was lied 2 about cannabis. when i experience it, nothing bad happens like were lied 2 about. fuk, the damn herb has helped my medical problems more than anything else. We increased life expectancy in the last 100 years due to air conditioning, refrigeration,, antibiotics, & greater overall economic wealth/access to resources, and increased worker's rights & equity! This in no way refutes this naturopath's truths about chemicals and clear correlations to cancer increases in the population as a whole. Antibiotics can save lives in cases of severe infection, but in our food supply, & in excess prescriptions, it leads to over load of mycotoxins=disease & cancer!

Great coverage. Irradiation is the complete altering of the molecular structure of natural foods, kills the life & enzymes we need most from food. It should be our legal right as citizen consumers to not allow our air-water-food to be corrupted-YES to the Nutritionist here!:-) Flash frozen is good, not as good as fresh organic, and not inherently bad as irradiation which kills life and has potential unknown health effects by radiation!

not true, theres people from certain locations who've lived healthy well over 100.
The average american for example is on a sick bed by 70 or sooner and its going to get worse and worse. The young generations now wont likely out live their grand parents.

who says lifespan of food does not increases during processing? processing food means to enhance the shelf life that irradiated food hv already done....if u kept potato for 6 months at 4 degree centrigrate potato spouting are there and when same potato are irradiated and kept for 20 degree centrigrate for 6 th month no spouting are not there.................... there is lot of example of increasing shelf life of food when it is processed by irradiation.

It seems to me that some of the people commenting are uncomfortable with the claims put forward by the nutritionists in this video. I think it is a sign of maturity when you can be open to knowledge even though it differs from your belief system or way of life. If you are really interested in if the statements can be backed by scientific data or not just google it :-)

Don't know if it's true about irradiation causing free radicals but the human body has mechanisms to repair damage from free radicals. So I wouldn't be concerned by getting a few extra from irradiated food. I'd be more concerned about dying from salmonella or botulism. It would be nice to cut down on all those nights spent on the toilet because I ate something that was a little bit tainted.
