Aha... I think I may have missed your primary motivation initially... Will be quite interesting to follow this further... Was that your dog poking around at 1:05? I noticed "dog" happened to be tagged here, hehe... So who's the partner-in-crime that does your camera work? I've yet to find someone brave enough for the task...
Lol I am my own partner in crime. I am pretty ghetto currently and just bring out my backpack with my laptop in it and then have my cheapo webcam that I perch on trees. -_-'
@MakingTheMetalBand ... Hehe, fair enough... I forgot to mention, that's some pretty good advice on the band names. I had a mate whose band was the subject of confusion at a band competition, when two *local* bands (in a very small area, mind you) arrived named "Entropy"... They've now renamed to "Entropy Within"
@MakingTheMetalBand ... Haha, I *knew* there had to be a reason why you were so quick to suggest Enthalpy as a viable alternative :-) I'm a Civil Engineer actually, but we did all the Chem/Phys/Geo 101's in our first year.
That alone proves that you can have a "long" band name, but they were more recognized for what they stood for, rather than the name. We, as the people, subconsciously know what "The Machine" part of the name stands for, and that's all that really matters!
Think of Rage Against The Machine. When they first came out, I don't think anybody knew how to classify them in any particular genre?! Rap, hard rock, alternative, metal, nevertheless, they were ahead of their time and they knew exactly what they were doing.
IMO the "Metal" genre is constantly evolving, what we called metal in the 80's is nothing of what it is today. There are also various subcategories. When I think of metal music, I think of people who are idealists that are trying to defy a certain "agenda" whether it's positive or negative.
I love the background music ;) I heard some LOTR in there, and the forest scenery is amazing!
You've got excellent insight. As far as choosing a "legal" name, what about using a conjunction of your name then adding a suffix or prefix to it? So you technically "own" your name.
Yeah, as long as it is not the exact same thing I think you are okay. If you were big time though and had the name "The Metallica".. there might be a problem :S
The page is still loading for me, but thanks for the heads up.
As far as the makeup goes haha.. I just use bare minerals fairly light under the eyes and then a cheap black eyeshadow from wal-mart on the outer corner.. , mac black track fluidline across the upper winged out and on the waterline. For mascara I used Maybelline define- a-lash (again, cheap at wal-mart)
Really good advice overall. There are far too many sucky band names out there, and it seems a lot of people don't put too much thought into it before they pick a name.
As far as the musical periods..In what manner do you plan on incorporating the romantic time period influence into your music ?
you mentioned explosive sound..full bass..exoticism..with the last part, can one expect you to use certain instruments that aren't that generally found in metal ?
For shit's sake, do NOT use a saxophone if you do. Ihsahn did that on his newest album. Sounds horrible. But cowbell on the other hand, use a lot of that.
The sax reminds me of the old Lethal weapon movies, in which they used it excessively. Ihsahn had the same problem with his sax, however..I don't think it sounds bad at all. As long as it is used in moderate ways. :P
What's the song playing in the background in the beginning of the video? It sounds awesome.

Not at first.. listen to the intro of Pretty Tied Up as an example of how to do so with your normal instruments.

hell no.. NO saxophone. I have never really liked the sound.
Lol and I will keep the cowbell in mind. But then the kiddos won't wear the band shirts.. just the ones saying "more cowbell!"
