@RandyPWNZ For Minecraft it works great, but I was telling someone earlier even that makes the laptop run hot. And I mean "Sweet Jesus there's dry ice on my lap" hot.
@dagmarthomine Most games let you do it but every one is different. In UT3 you have to pull up the console and type "stat fps" without the quotes. I think the console is either the tilde, tab, or one of the F keys. F'in keys, how do they work?
@Joe1996BC Absolutely. When OSX first got Steam I saw these articles saying that the games ran so much better in Leopard versus Windows, but trying it myself they were a lot worse. Like a good 20-30 frames worse, to the point where I couldn't even play Minecraft without a problem. Though that might've just been a bug in the game itself.
I'm posting kind of late, I just got the same 15" i5 macbook and I keep hearing people say it gets hot, if you were to put a cooling dock under it would it help it at all? Also when you say hot.. is it to the point you can't lay your hands on the computer anymore because it's hot? Or just heats up a little and you can feel the temps raise somewhat?
@freakofmhs Honestly, I was playing Minecraft on it the other day and the bottom got so hot I couldn't hold it. That's how hot it gets, but it's been that way with every Macbook I ever owned with the exception of the 11" Air - you really have to stress that thing to get it hot. But it's just hot underneath, not so much on top. You can definitely still use it.
@movieluv94 I downloaded refit and I use that instead of Bootcamp so I could get all three on there. And yeah, it gets hot. But the battery life is pretty good all things considered.
@ItsKadBuddy It comes with some cooling system, you can hear the fans going a little but it will get hot. I wouldn't put it on my lap that's for sure. But I can't remember it crashing on me since I got it, so it has to be doing something right.
@TerryxMasters hey try SMC fan control for mac its definitely cools down ur mac ! and then via osx go to windows bootcamp the SMC app will still run and while gaming the macbook stays cool :D i love it !
Hey, how did you get wireless internet on Windows 7 with the current Macbook Pro? I installed Windows 7 and the wireless did not show up and it's asking me to use the ethernet to connect online. On the older Macbook it worked perfectly fine and the wireless did showed up.
@JSantana319 I just put the snow leopard disc in and it installed all the drivers for me. Other than that you might have to plug it in to download them.
if you want to play games why dont you just buy a real laptop? instead of a Macbook ? thats just stupid macs is good for photoshop and such, but why ruin it with installing windows on it, then theres is no point to get a Mac.
@Youngisjoven It can get pretty hot. I've owned three Macbooks since the Intel ones came out and they all felt really hot. I don't have specific temps, though.
@capacop01 That I don't know. If it's what NVIDIA used before the 3d monitors came out, then maybe? But it's not one of those new 3d screens if that's what you're asking.
@UhateMacsToo What's with all the hate? You say that like you're the first man to discover that Apple doesn't pack their machines with gaming hardware. Chill out man, it's all good.
@TerryxMasters just a tip, your gt 330m isnt running at its correct stock clocks, apple actaully underclcocked the gt 330m , get nvidia tool to overclock or restore them to original clocks, type in gt 330m 512, it runs bad company at high settings, but some how the mac books 1 does,nt u need to overclock it, if you do post a vid thx
What happened to the GTAIV demo? I understand you had to leave, but can we see a video of that? That's probably the only game that I play on my computer and I'd really like to see how it performs on the new MacBook Pro. Nice videos.
Thanks for showing real action on your new MacBook Pro, other people just open boxes ;) Mine still takes 5 to 7 business days to arrive. Enjoyed your 3 part review a lot!
You would notice a fairly significant difference there. First off, the 13" doesn't allow for the i5 or the i7 which knocks off about 40% of the processing power, making it significantly slower in computations. Also, while it uses the same graphics card, it only has half of the available VRAM meaning that you will have to turn down your textures significantly. As a gaming device, the 13" probably won't cut it. However, if you won't be gaming, the 13" will be golden.
well after 5 minrues in minecraft mine heats up like a bitch

@SonicXpress I think I split it in half, OS X for my videos and music, Windows 7 for my games.
