In my school, we have "bible wednsdays" and when my friends tried to start a GSA it got turned down because it would spark "too much controversy." I agree. The problem with all organised religion is that it is largely driven by the herd instinct. When an instinct takes charge most logic goes out of the window. The herd instinct desires nothing more than to increase the herd and its security, anything outside the herd is seen as a threat, whether this is true or not! In the end is it not arrogant that we think we are so important that if an ultimate being such as a god exists that it would be concerned about us worshipping it?

An average Atheist knows and compares the advances of science and the scriptures of said religion, so he/she can debate and come into a conclusion. When I heard of this nonsense I commented that I believe the President of the United States of America should not impose his beliefs on the citizens, as there are many different beliefs and cultures which make up this country. I always felt that it was not right to say "and may God bless America" at the end of every Presidential speech. If you believe in God and Jesus, it is up to YOU to praise their holy name, not the President.

I agree. The problem with all organised religion is that it is largely driven by the herd instinct. When an instinct takes charge most logic goes out of the window. The herd instinct desires nothing more than to increase the herd and its security, anything outside the herd is seen as a threat, whether this is true or not! In the end is it not arrogant that we think we are so important that if an ultimate being such as a god exists that it would be concerned about us worshipping it?
