Interesting insight, kyotokombat. I hear some L7, or maybe the opposite? If this came before L7, I would say they owe the Fastbacks a measure of gratitude.
God, I love this song. This album was my entire senior year in high school. I remember hearing the fastbacks play live on one of pearl jam's pirate radio sessions (I think in '94?) and being blown away. This is the first time seeing the video and god it's great to hear!

Kim? Didn't you have an a apartment across from Suzi Tennent! You Let us Smugglers stay there. I would like to thank you. Thanks!! Rock On!!! Paul Preminger.
Hi. I'm Kim from the Fastbacks and you are right. Duff was our 2nd drummer (Kurt was the first and he wasn't too good) and I think Duff was only 15! He was our neighbor and a good musician! I heart Duff!
I just found these messages about us (FBX) and thought I'd write and say HELLO. This is Kim Warnick from the FBX and Duff did indeed play in our band. He's on our very single and it is hard to find.
Kim is a friend of mine. She taught me to blow spit bubbles at Milam and brought me cassets of her music when I was paralized in a hospital (Please don't ask me how I am. I'll just nod and say I'm fine....). The last I saw her was at a Possie's concert. Kim, write.
Hey Kim, I just left you a messege on your YouTube account. I hope you enjoy the YT site, it isn't as cool as it used to be, but it's still pretty cool.
Where is the actual video for "Just Say"? I have it dubbed on VHS somewhere, but I want it on YouTube, damnit.

From 2:14-16, the best drummer they ever had makes a corn-flake cameo.

I remember walking in Seattle a long time ago around 95-96 and me and my friends were in a ATM line, and Kurt Bloch turns around, lol.
Very nice man, was delighted to meet fans. This is my favorite song of the band by far.

I love the dissonant chord changes in this song. This would be almost better than any Pixies song if were just a little more focused.

Fastbacks have been around longer, but this particular song is one from the early 90's. I don't listen to L7 so I can't make a fair comparison.

@toodrunktodream I love this band too...the 90's were so good in rock...especially 1994...what a year \m/
Andymalcolm1 1 year ago
@toodrunktodream - I heard it as well. It was actually Eddie Vedor that was just playing the record that he had while the band was taking a break.

The Fastbacks. Rock musics most underrated band.
They turned out consistently great albums for, as far as I can tell, damn near 3 decades.
Anyone who loves punk/power pop owes it to themselves to buy at least 1 Fastbacks cd.
Betcha cant eat just one.

Buy all of them!
Love,
Kim W.
