Four of the six episodes still exist so this story could be released on dvd if the missing two episodes were remade in animation form (as was done with The Invasion)...the BBC has stills and clips from those two lost episodes so it is doable ...it's a brilliant 60s Who story and deserves the time and effort
If im not mistaken they actually did do that. there is an ice warriors dvd that has all 4 stories - im unsure what they have done with this story though whether it has 4/6 or whether it was animated or reconstructed or what im not sure.
It sucks that sooo many of Patrick's episodes are now lost.
@frobinhood It hasn't been released on DVD yet but the VHS release had a short reconstruction (15 miutes) of the 2 missing episodes using the many pcitures and soundtrack avilable. A CD with the full soundtrack was also included.
You know what i would do for fun if i was a CGI artist.
i would recreate ALL the lost episodes and just claim them to be fan made, using the original audio that way people can get to see what is missing.
Like episode 4 of the tenth planet.
id read the books and listen to the audio and take small clips and work off all of it to how i think it was done, and if a few people tell me that its slightly different i would fix it up...
I bought the Seeds of Death recently (second Ice Warriors story) and theyre awesome villains :) Troughton got loads of cool ones, Ice Warriors, Yetis, and the refined Cybermen (as in the design got better)
@namhara lost in time waz a collection of a hand full of stories wit 1 or 2 episodes left of th story.. th ice warriors has more surviving episodes than lost along with th gunfighters
@keiracounsell yeah, I've since learnt this. Watched gunfighters btw and have to say, would have traded it for a "Power of the daleks" or "Evil of the Daleks" anyday... but I suppose we should be grateful for anything that survived the scrapping.
Ice Warriors would be a good candidate for the "Invasion" reanimation treatment.
@namhara yeh i would have loved power of th daleks 2 have survived or even tenth planet part 4 but oh well nothin we can do now :/ and i wish they would reanimate th ice warriors its a really good story.. i downloaded all th existing episodes and th audio 2 th missing parts and its a good story it really is
Just say every one 1 before Tom (and including him) were great but thats where it started to fall apart....
i havnt seen the original DR but i want to. i love Pat, John and Tom but Tom is my fav because even in his biggest danger he always has a big grin and never panics.
"all circuits woman, all circuits"! Love 60s doctor who the best! The music in this one is particularly good too!

The Gunfighters exists in its entirety and will no doubt get its own release in the next couple of years.
