  • best cover!

  • Thank you very much!

  • beautiful man beaufiul

  • Thanks a lot!

  • Wow! Really good! 5/5!

  • Thank you!

  • Nice song ..but sorry Leadbelly may have sung this song at one time but John Fogarty of CCR wrote this song.

  • Thanks for the comment. Incidentally, Leadbelly first recorded it in 1934. Fogerty was born in 1945.

  • Well you did a fine job but the sheet music I have credits JF

  • f yeah dude! thank you ty!

for what, you may ask... first and foremost; your amazing rendition (and brilliant vocals btw) of CCR's spin on Midnight S. next, for giving us the chords. and finally, the ability to let me replay this video as many times as i need to get the song down pat (and it is going well, if i do say so myself). not to mention, im sure my friends will enjoy finally hearing the version of this song that they've come to love. hehe i usta play it all wrong, thanks again and GJ

  • You're most welcome and thank you for the kind words. Wish I could hear your version when you have it "down pat"!

  • Thank you. That would be nice!

  • this is the best cover i've seen so far :D i mean best voice and most originall :) favorite'd it and 5*rated :)

  • Very kind of you to say!

  • Are you covering the Leadbelly version or the CCR version?

  • I actually hadn't heard either version ( or any of the many others ) in a long time before recording this but if memory serves it's more CCR than Ledbetter.

  • Good job man!!!

    Really nice voice!!!

What is this tune? Can you send me the chords?

    Cheers!!!

  • Thanks. Midnight Special by Leadbelly gained wide-spread fame through a cover by CCR. Do a tab search on this piece and you'll find that most versions are played in the key of D. I play an E progression but I capo up a couple of frets: eg. [E]Yonder comes Miss [A]Rosie, How in the world do you [E]know I can tell her by her [B7]apron & the dress that she [E]wore Umbrella on her [A7]shoulder A piece of paper in her [E]hand I heard her tell the [B7]captain Turn loose my [E]man Hope that helps!
