She made me believe in MAGIC...because her voice was so surreal and other-wordly. I was born in Wash, DC...just down the road from Philly, where Phyllis was revered and adored. And everyday on WHUR 96.3, I would hear a bunch of her songs. This one was a favorite of a lot of people, because I remember people calling in to request it. Her music is the soundtrack to my childhood. So, in a very weird but welcomed way, I feel like she's been a relative of sorts. Always there, in voice and spirit.
This track can be found on a Phyllis Hyman compilation called 'One on One', Hip-O records from the US. I think this the only CD this track is on, great tune!
If only this lady could have stood back and realised what a beautiful woman and spirit she had, maybe she would have stayed with us. I pray God has her in his merciful keeping. He as well as us here, knew her pain. She literally sang her heart out.
