@girlygirlrat14 Thanks. Fall 2010 was pretty horrible. Lost Puck suddenly to Lymphoma the last day of Sep then two weeks later lost Sassy and two days later, Roxy. Sassy'd been under treatment for Adrenal Disease and Roxy Insulinoma. They were so bonded that when the one passed I think the other just gave up :(

@Ferretocious too sad. that happened with my pet rats a few months ago. one died and the other followed a week later. I got a ferret shortly after and he's amazing. A bit of a rascal but a great pet.

@MrAlexchappell First off, different species, they can't mate. Secondly, they're both altered. Thirdly, sadly Roxy passed away after a long bout with Insulinoma (Pacreatic Cancer) last October :( Check more recent videos for Percy with Mitzy - he LOVES her just as much as he loved Roxy :)

@TheCrazyCello And you can't "make sure they don't get sick". Most of the ferrets in the States come from Marshalls Farms so they're very inbred and pretty much WILL come down with one of these diseases eventually.

And my ferrets eat the best food on the market - 45% meat protein and grain free - and I've STILL had three with Insulinoma. They also are NEVER given treats with sugar in them. I've had ferrets for over 13 years, run a ferret forum, serve on the board of a ferret shelter and have been interviewed by Ferrets Magazine

@DirtbikeBarbieXoXo Well none of the diseases ferrets get are curable. So you're paying ongoing vet bills every month or so for treatment or paying and giving prescription meds twice a day. This is something you should have thought of BEFORE getting ferrets. I spent over $3K last year on vet bills with my three eldest ferrets sick.

We have 8 ferrets, three dachshunds and one cat...but the problem is that all the ferrets want to do is sleep. Is that normal? The dogs have been a big over whelming with them that we had to separate them from the ferrets. The female seems to be the instigator to that action, so we keep them all apart. Well, except the cat. She hates everyone....How do you get them all to get along?

@Yambii Percy's a Black and White Persian :) Sweetest cat. Actually was found as a stray in Seattle and adopted by me from the Seattle Animal Shelter! Totally mystery as to where he came from because he's a show quality cat. And there aren't any bicolor Persian breeders near here.

My mom's cat did that with my baby ferrets when i first got them. it was soooo cute. She just licked and groomed and cuddled them. She even tried a couple time to carry them around as if they were her kittens

My dog, Jake, was the "Ferret Nanny" when I had a young kit ferret in my home. If the ferret would slip off the edge of my bed he'd gently lift it up by its scruff and put it back up there. And if it did it more than twice he'd bring it to me like "This one's wearing me out, mom." LOL I haven't had a kit for years, though, since all the ferrets I have now were adopted as adults.

Percy the cat was 2 1/2 when I adopted him. So he didn't even grow up around ferrets. He LOVES them. He follows them around and grooms them or traps them in a closet then swats at their heads when they try to get out LOL

I just let the ferrets out the first day Percy was home with me. He was 2 1/2 when I adopted him and INSTANTLY loved them - especially Roxy :) The other cats like them as well but have the advantage of being able to run faster and jump up to places the ferrets can't if the ferrets get to be too much.

The cats seem to view the ferrets as kittens since they don't show fear of them. The cats are always nice to the ferrets but the ferrets can get a bit nippy - check out the Percy vs Ringo vid it's pretty funny!
