Just fucking wonderful. Sadly I only discovered SAHB after he died (even though I'm old enough to know better!) but if there's ever been a better lyricist & performer than Alex then I've yet to encounter them.
Thanks for posting. How sensational was SAHB. Theatrical Scottish brilliance at its best. How much they are missed. Great band. And who could ever forget Zal Cleminson's make-up. Underrated guitarist.
i think this is the better of the two takes. i'm surprised at how consistent are the off-key out-of-time nuances. you'd think he was winging it... obviously not.
Alex Harvey's band used to be called "Tear Gas" - they used to do the local circuit in Scotland in the early 70s. Saw them several tmes before Alex hired them. Oh what memories! Och aye the noo!
This version is another take from OGWT sessions that used by RAI at least (TV Italian I guess). Yes - Live On The Test (BBC CD contains an original audio track from OGWT), highly recommended to all SAHB Fans.
A piece of genius - a brilliant take on yet another moribund chanson

Oh lord, the original is so much better : Au suivant by Jacques Brel.

I can see why the other take made it to the show. Still great though.

I'm from the USA. Check out the band from the midwest
called VAMBO MARBLE EYE. They broke up a while ago, but you can find stuff from them. They cover "Next"
as a faster and bizarre version. They were highly influenced by SAHB.

knowing the stuffy BBC, it was probably the guitar humping which acted as the catalyst for the second take.

They're two separate takes of the same session
