Most people don't realize the dexterity it takes to do this move, it's not like everyone can do this. I've tried it and you have to be very flexible to pull it off without injuring yourself. I've been successful a few times but not with as much poise and grace as datstyuk does, it usually ended up with me crashing into the boards. just pause at 0:43 and you'll see his torso is perpendicular to his footing. not easy.

The problem for goaltenders with this move is that he pops his left leg as if he is going to shoot , waits for the tender to make a move , than pulls the string and the goalies done. And becase of the way he makes this move he still has room even if the goalie dives .in other words, you're the man datsyuk

There is absolutely nothing you can do but lay down in the crease and hope it hits you. Any goalie in the world has to honor the wrist shot and he's got the puck in shooting position all the way until he pulls the string on it. He pauses long enough to look like he's reading the tender to make the first move. If he is and he really can go 3 ways on that, yeah, there's simply nothing that can stop that but himself. Getzlaf did something like it but I thought he was going to break his ankles.

Probably the best stick handler and Offensive defensive player to play...and I love the wings grew up knowing nothing but the wings.... Federov and the Russian five use to be my idles and I'm American..... but in most of these goals I do believe datty is pretty close if not over the goal line and if any one of you knows about hockey then you should know it doesn't count after you cross the goal line in a shootout or on a penalty shot

And on one of these dekes, he turns directions top speed on one skate, post shot fake, then roofs it. Not easy for a goalie or anyone to anticipate that sort of skill and balance.
