There's no need to hate Beyoncé or other artists that covered it because they never said that it was their song. Everyone knows that it's Jill's. I saw Jill perform it live in DC a couple of months ago. Let me tell you she blew the house down with that. I had a tear in my eye. Her voice was so operatic, wrought with power and emotion. Beyonce honestly doesn't have the pipes, vocal control and talent that Jill has performing that song.
I respect what Beyonce does, but I think Hannah Montana would have covered the song as well as she did.

It is, therefore, JILL's SONG ONLY. (i can type in all caps too.) The other's only covered it. If Prince writes a song and Chaka Khan does a cover of it, it's still the intellectual and legal property of Prince. His name is still on the credits in the liner notes if she actually records it.
I can guarantee you that she would have to get his permission to even record the song, formally. The same rings true for beyonce. To formally record this track, she would have to get the permission of Ms. Scott and she list Ms. Scott as the writer/owner of the song. She would also have to pay her much publishing fees and royalties for it because it belongs to JILL. It is Jill's song. That's all i'm trying to say. Beyonce did a decent job with it. But the song isn't her's legally.
you produce a child with someone. you and he/she carry & care for this fetus for 9 months & deliver the baby...you make sure it gets all the care it needs & you ask someone to babysit the kid for a week while you're on vacation. they do so. is the child now their's as well? they took good care of the kid too, right? based on your logic, the child is now shared between you, your mate, and this 3rd party.
i was there on the 14th of June jill was amazing the entire show was very good including robin thicke, chaka khan did not sound the greatest that night but she was still good
