I keep The Daughter of Lir in my vehicle's CD carousel pretty much permanently. She has a unique songwriting/arranging style I like very much, as well as her singing. I like this one very much and Silhouettes is a very good cut from that album also, I think.
@AllMediaReviewsBlog If you have an Itunes account you can listen to samples of all her songs. I found several albums by her there. Daughter of Lir, Celtic Requiem, Crystal Shoe, and A Gaelic Christmas. I have listened to some of the samples and every one of them sounded so lovely. Seal Woman is on her album "Daughter of Lir".
I haven't heard this song in a decade. It was used in a Chicago production of Brian Friel's "Translations" that was fantastic, and this music added to it immeasurably. Truly breathtaking in every way.
I agree Tiny, its a wonderful song. All the voices in perfect harmony. And the story and words to the song are so lovely. I wanted every one to get a chance to hear it.
To learn more about the Selkie Legend is on Wikipedia, the free Encyclopedia. It mentions more about the selkie legends and it's origins.

@davegammaleonis Well, This particular song has a sound that is really unusual. The harmony is amazing.

I've listened to Mary for some time and I never tired of her. Mary McLaughlin and Maire Brennan are my two most favorite Celtic style singers.

@davegammaleonis Yes they both have the voices of Angels.
