I've been studying this video bit by bit for a few months as I'm learning it, and I've have been captivated by it! UNTIL THE TREMELO section. Do any other classical guitarists agree with me that its not the best? Or am I on my own here? Xue Fei Yang and David Russell are king and queen of this technique!
@kurapika6191 I don't need to, I've seen it before. Yes, forgot to mention him as well. Saw him play it live as well, before the Romero Quartet came on. Absolutely enchanting!
I cannot express how deeply moved I am by this performance. One of the most difficult pieces for classical guitar - and every single note is given perfect expression. Dynamics, agogic and timbre are without doubt the pinnacle of beauty - making this piece sound so wonderfully moving.
Before, all I knew were performances that made this piece sound like a technical exercise - this interpretation moved me almost to tears.
Jan Oberbek - polish guitarist, who recorded "Invocacion y Danza" on album "Hiszpańska muzyka gitarowa" (Spanish guitar music) in 1979. Perfect intuition of dynamic, light technique. For many years I couldn't find interpretation as brilliant as his.
not to mention he was also a blind pianist which make it even more impressive the works for guitar he wrote. he didnt even really know how to play it that well
I started learning this song on monday and omg it is amazing, i've only gotten up to 1:50 (2 page of 18 or 20 i think) this is an amazing song, and said to be one of the most challenging songs for classical guitar
absolutely hate this song... its like interprative dance for the guitar..... just because its interprative and hard to play doesnt make it a pleasure to listen to
you may also find this one to be interesting John Williams : Hector Villa-Lobos - Prelude no.4
really??? i agree this song may not be the best classical song to listen to but i just love to listen to it because of all the different technical requirements, but this is a really recent song too, dictated in 1997. so maybe that's why. but that other song does sound really good.
Well, i think that kaori is an excellent performer, about Heitor Villa-Lobos's compositions, they are very different, because of the evolution in the music as time goes by, besides, its Joaquin Rodrigo and Heitor Villa-Lobos have different cultures, the spanish is very different to the brazilian in rhythms, harmony, etc., etc., also they lived in different times. Villa-Lobos 1887-1959 and Rodrigo 1901-1999
Well, i would say "en gustos se rompen géneros" or ... one size doesn't fit all ;)
Its of course a question of taste ... but Invocacion y danza is one of the best compositions for solo guitar, maybe THE best composition for solo guitar within Rodrigos works. Rodrigo won a compositor competition with this piece, the 1961 Coupe International de Guitare, a competition organized by the French broadcasting company. It's such a compact and complex piece that it for sure takes time to understand the structure and the more you understand the more beautiful and genius it seems.
For me personally it has more substance than many other solo works for guitar of any century.
Its really worth to spend some time to decrypt this piece for both, performer and listener :)
Eventually I agree with Lobos works are fun to play but only because they are more idiomatically written and easier to understand it doesnt make them MORE fun to play or listen them for me.
I play classical guitar and for me, this is the piece I like the most...it just has some magic into it. couldn't ask more on the interpretation; just superb
I've said it before and I'll say it again. Muraji is such an awesome classical guitar player and what I've seen of her she is very versitile in a lot of the different styles. She is definatly one to watch for in the future. I always get mesmorizied watching her play.
Very nice !!!

The best composer for guitar didn't even play the instrument himself. Possibly more of a genius.
